WFT has no problem against ZSS at all due to her crouch. Yoshi is p doable imo. We struggle with Fox, Kirby, and Villager the most imo.
The Mario/Dr.Mario is quite tough matchup too. I can't find a good move to approach with. And spamming projectile can sometimes go against me because of the cape.

My list of MU experience for Wii Fit Trainer :)

Extremely bad MU's for Wii Fit:

--Mario- Reflect, combos us badly, out ranges us and is a small target and he can out camp us. He's literally made to counter all Wii Fit options.
--Villager - Disjointed hit boxes and fair/Blair/nair prevent our usual movements. Can camp us and absorb our projectiles and use them against us. Can gimp us pretty well.
--Olimar/Alph- Side B Pikmin throw. This move alone shuts us down and there's not too mucH we can do against it. We can't really rush down, because we are pretty floaty and Olimar avoids attacks due to his small size. He out ranges and just has to run away from us. Olimar times Wii Fit out pretty easily.
--Diddy Kong- This guy literally says "FU" to almost every option. All his aerials out beat and outrange us. Banana pressure is tough and he is also small and speedy.
--Mr. Game and Watch- Small target who can absorb our stuff. Spaced back air and up air is hella annoying against Wii Fit and he has combos out of grabs.
--Pikachu- Super small, speedy and mobile. Combos us and can camp us with thunder jolt. Quick attack shenanigans make it tough to hit and gimp.
--Sonic- You need a semi charged to full charged Sun ball to hit him out of spin dash. His damage output is silly and he wrecks Wii Fit when he closes in and there isn't too much we can do about it.
--Sheik- Fair literally shuts us down. That's all she needs to get the lead against us. Her needles out beat so much of our stuff. Super speedy and a combo freak.
--Luigi- Fire balls and grabs is all he needs. Fighting Wii fit is pretty easy for Luigi since Wii Fit can't really approach him safely to begin with.
--Duck Hunt- Hide behind projectiles is all he needs to do. Wii fit is trying to close in? Duck hunt can just retreat and repeat the cycle. His gunmen and crap protect Duck Hunt from our projectiles. He out ranges and badly camps us out.

Great players with these characters will be an extreme nuciance. Prepare for an extremely stressful battle that will require great reflexes and massive thought. One error can easily turn the tide against you instantly against these characters. The MU isn't impossible, but it kinda feels like it. Do your best and try to be perfect no matter what.

Bad Match ups for Wii Fit:

Rosalina
Captain Falcon
Ness
Yoshi
Fox
Kirby
MegaMan
Toon Link
Mii Gunner(if customs for Mii's are legal)

These characters all counter Wii Fit very well. Wii Fit either gets out ranged, rush downed or zoned out badly by all these characters. Some of them are tough to hit for him\her. The battle is doable, but pretty tough.

Somewhat bad match ups for Wii Fit:

--Peach(combo us for days, Rush us down and ledge guard us pretty bad. She also out ranges and out prioritizes as well)
--Falco(Reflector shuts down our projectiles pretty bad and he outrages and out prioritizes us)
--Meta Knight(Can rush you down me get early kills on you, pretty tough to gimp as well)
--Dr. Mario(Easier to gimp, but still very annoying like Mario)
--Marth(Tippers and outrages you when spaced correctly. Can rush you down as well)
--Pac Man(I don't understand why people say Wii Fit has the MU advantage on this one lol. A good pac man is hell for Wii fit. A total camp fest)
--Greninja(Small stance makes him tough to hit and he outrages us)
--Jigglypuff(She's very light, but she does outrange us with aerials and she can gimp us easily when used right)
--Zero Suit Samus(She out ranges us, can close in well and do silly kills with combos)
--Mii Brawler(tiny custom brawler)(He's small and can rush you down easily. Can score early kills with helicopter kick)
--Lucas(Small, out ranges us, can combo us and can absorb our Sun. Pretty tough to gimp)
--Ryu(The stupid combos he can execute into kill moves. Pretty tough to gimp and has annoying shield stun and breaking capabilities)

Match ups Wii Fit has the advantage against:

--Robin(Literally a free win for me. No reason to lose this MU. Combo fodder, slow and easy to gimp)
--Mii Brawler(Default 1111)(Gimp bait and you can just camp him out)
--Bowser Jr(Literally all you have to do is play campy and throw out header and Sun balls when you see him approach or use Koopa drift. Extremely easy to gimp. Extreme combo fodder)
--Zelda(She is forced to approach you. She has a reflector, but she's combo fodder as well and you out camp her pretty bad. Her kill moves are pretty easy to see coming)
--Charizard(Ultra combo fodder and pretty easy to gimp as well. Just avoid grab and side b and you are pretty much set in this MU)

Anyone else not listed has like around a 50|50 MU vs Wii Fit Trainer.

So much of this looks bonkers to me...
I can only guess this comes from a difference in playstyles but I can't say because I've never seen you play without customs.
My San Diego regional(top 32 out of 100+) and recent SSS SoCal regional(13th place out of 100+) placing were all with default Wii Fit. SoCal literally is the most diverse scene because there literally is a master\expert that specializes in each character here.

I specialize in Wii Fit Trainer and Mii Gunner(1111) here.

There is also Marth, Samus, Toon Link, Peach, just about every character used here and they all get high placings over here.

I literally have MU experience against every character in the game thinks to each specialist of each character here in SoCal. People will disagree with my list of MU with Wii fit, but I've played every character and everyone here in SoCal is no joke. They use each character to their fullest potential. You have Pros like Zero, Larry, Tyrant, Rich Brown, Mr. Con Con and many others living here. The competition is very fierce and I love that I get to play with all of them.

Hey guys, it's ksizzle of VitaminZK. Probably a waste due to AceStar making his video that I just saw now upon entering this thread haha, but we've made a patch notes video for Wii Fit Trainer. We did a few for 1.0.8 and are going hard with 1.1.0. We've already done Marth/Lucina, and Robin. This is our 3rd one for this patch. Hope you guys enjoy! Let me know if I missed anything so I can add it to the compilation video at the end of the series for characters who only had few changes!

Nice. We were actually looking on some confirmation on header lag reductions.

Changes made to specials also affected customs if you were interested, but aside from that it looks like you covered everything although we're still digging to see what some mystery params are apparently.

I wasn't questioning the socal scene or whether you can actually play default, I'm not even really questioning your MU spread because I know different playstyles and opponents can change your perspective on these things. It's just your reasoning for some of them come off as very wild which is why I wanted to see how you played in default.

Sorry for the miscommunication 9ball. I pretty much play very defensive and I use many side b's and down b's to air stall in neutral to have my enemies on their toes. I wish I had a laptop so I can find the streams I played on and have someone convert it to a YouTube video. I don't repeat the same patterns, because I know my opponent will see through it soon, so I mix it up and use a variety of things to keep them questioning my next movement. I just play very patient and work around the opponents actions.

I've had people tell me they hate playing me because I'm too "campy" and "defensive" lol Wii Fit was made to be defensive with an unorthodox moveset. My key is to get my enemies off stage. That's where the easy kills come in. All Wii fits should go off stage and gimp when possible, because I've seen some people just stand near the ledge and not take advantage of Wii fits amazing off game stage. Take advantage of what Wii fit shines at(off stage). It's very difficult to punish an off stage Wii Fit.

It's cool. I'm just really interested in learning from other players to better myself and Wii Fit's meta as a whole. I spoke to @ Fancykong Fancykong about this before, but sometimes I feel like my style is way too aggressive. I don't think we as a community have a concrete idea on how to play WFT yet which is why our MUs differ so much from player to player, but also why we've got so much potential compared to other characters. It's even more promising when you consider how well we've done without it.

Although I'm a very aggro WiiFitTrainer, I find that she has the most potential as a patient camper. She was in-between Footsies character and Camper character, the 2% Sun Salutation Healing Buff really put her on the campy side. Now that healing makes a difference, her opponent has to approuch because they won't let WiiFitTrainer heal.

I've never found much success in camping myself. Far too many reflects and absorbs are waaaaay overtuned on very common characters. On top of relatively slow startup/release times, and shields being amazing, I could never get much mileage out of camping. The SS buff was cool, but it also came with lag reductions, and the DB buff. Let's not forget that we have kill combos on the entire cast below 100% that start working as low as 50% from a nair. We also got a legit zoning tool that even Villager would be envious of so we can approach. It might just be my inclination for traps and counterplay, but that type of potential doesn't really spell "mainly camp" to me. I think it can be effective, and deadly when used to frustrate and control the pace, but I believe she'll end up optimally played as a hybrid rather than just offensive or defensive only.

I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED. Yeah, I'm actually more/less aggressive depending on the matchup, so even though I have all of the combos under my belt, sometimes I take the Robin approach and use my projectiles to create openings for combos against characters I don't exactly want to approach. For example, uncharged SS to grab to forward throw into up smash isn't a true combo, but it involves several DI traps in a row that makes it torture against heavies Or you can use full jump Bair to either move away if you hit shield or advance with a falling Nair combo if you get a hit confirm. Er, I guess I can add those to the combo guide.

To be honest Wii Fit should be played campy and defensive with a hit and run type of style. I tried aggro before and it was a flop. I might as well use Sheik, Diddy, Mario or anyone who does aggro better than Wii Fit. I used him more defensive and hit and run like and it's been a huge success for me. I started placing way better with this style. Wii fit being used aggressive isn't ideal inmo. Wii Fot has the tools to be defensive and run away like. He excels at this. Combined that with his great off stage game and he becomes a special kind of annoyance to the opponent. Wii Fit is best used patient, defensive and has a good balance of keep away and needed zoning. The thought of an aggresive Wii Fit rubs me the wrong way. Let's just say aggro wifi fits almost always get eliminated early on in tournaments here in SoCal. Unless someone can link me to videos of Wii fits having great results going aggro in tournaments... I'll change my mind, but I personally believe the character is meant to play as a keep away, runaway and defensive character.

Did the length of DB change?

Some people have mentioned it but I don't know if anyone has actually tested it. Don't remember how long it lasted in 1.09

It was 8.5 before. Didn't notice any change myself but it's possible.

Waveguider is pretty notoriously aggressive. It's actually from watching him that I got the impression that dash attack was really good.

There's no doubt WFT has the tools to play defensive and runaway, but that style comes with sacrificing stage control which can be a nightmare for a character that has issues landing. It's also worth noting that the hybrid style I'm thinking of would use option selects which are unique to her due to the way her normals function--taking advantage of both her powerful defensive options and her strong offensive/mixup game.

Dash attack is a good move and it helps with landing opponent punishes and the unexpected rush down. I only get aggro off stage for early gimps and spikes, but that's about it. Wii Fit doesn't have any issues landing at all. You have side b and down b to air stall to land safely and B cancels to make landings safe. Wii Fit is one of the few characters who can land safely back on stage. You aren't sacrificing stage control with a keep away strategy, unless your literally going off stage and spamming side b the whole time. Wii Fit is a very patient character who requires good zoning use, aerial spacing and mixing approaches and strategies with Side B and Down B air stalling and B cancels. Not taking advantage of any of these really gimps the characters and you are better off using a different character who plays aggro or defensive better. Most players are use to aggro styles vs defensive styles. Theres a reason why Wii Fits over here get wrecked pretty badly, because they use her aggresive and don't mix things up with side b or down air stalls. Zero himself told me I have a great Wii Fit and I differentiate myself from other Wii Fit mains hes played.

Wii Fit definitely has landing issues. She certainly in a better position than someone like Bowser or Roy, but all the stalls in the world won't change that you have to land and have no reliable aerials to cover you outside of customs. Even Robin with her horrible ground speed can be a threat when attempting to juggle because our options come down to momentum changes and air dodges--neither of which are a threat in a game full of disjointed uairs, invincible usmashes, and frame 1 shields. That's not to say she can't land, but compared to a lot of high tier characters she's only average at best.

There's also pretty much no way you can play run away and retain stage control without being a trap type character like Snake. Even if you're microspacing with things like perfect pivot jab you're still giving up space for your opponent to move into safely. If you know some way you can run away and keep stage control you know something that can literally revolutionize fighting games. I might have misunderstood you a bit here, but if you're suggesting potent WFT play requires approaches using sideB and downB air stalling, that's pretty crazy as you'd be putting yourself into disadvantage without prompting which would be free for any character with a good anti air. There are a lot things we aren't using as Wii Fit players but I wouldn't agree that forgoing any particular style or technique should signal being better off using a different character. No one has had even close to the amount of success to make that call as it'd suggest optimal play which no one customs or no is even close to.

No offense to you on this last point since I agree that you're pretty good from what I've seen, but I don't put much stock into anyone's opinions of someone else. Least of all ZeRo as his thoughts seem understandably sporadic. If nothing else, I'm even more curious to see how you run default as a lot of this stuff(if I understood you that is) sounds really strange.

I also main Villager and unfortunately he and WFT have a lot of the same bad matchups. But WFT can beat Villager. They both have a lot of awkward, irregular hitboxes, but WFT can approach diagonally while Villager can't. You can also heal and power up while Villager stops to throw a gyroid or plant a tree.

As for Yoshi, nope, not doable at all. For either of these characters. Or maybe it's just me. Even mediocre players kick my ass the second they switch to Yoshi and his giant lightning-fast unpunishable hitboxes.

Kirby isn't too hard when you outrun him, now that the patch keeps WFT from having to surrender against short characters. It's simple to keep Kirby in the air. Fox is easy to punish if you vary up your short hops (n-air and d-air) and shield/grab like crazy.

You say Villager is doable, but Yoshi is impossible? What? Lol you can power shield eggs and perfectly time sun salutations at his double jump and landings. Just evade and roll from his aerials and predict any b reverses he may do. Play patient and keep away like and the match up becomes a lot easier. You can't do nair to nair combos on him, because he has massively priority in his Nair. Most yoshis will play extremely reckless when you run away and attack when the opening is right. I honeslty haven't had any problems at all with Yoshi. Annoying, but I haven't lost to any yet.

I feel like you haven't played any experienced Villagers if the Villager is even giving you space to approach. Villager wrecks Wii fit whether he's playing defensive or offensive. He will destroy your approach options with his zoning and priority Nair. Wii fit is trying to retreat? Too bad! Villager can just play aggressive and hunt you down and still do great. Villager is literally Wii Fits worst match up ever. There is no character that shuts Wii Fit hardcore as bad as Villager. Villager out zones, has massive priority, range and can absorb either projectile of Wii Fit. MJG and Shane Bruce(best Villagers in the Wc) literally will poop on any Wii Fot they play. You can win the MU, but it's extremely difficult and requires the most patient mind set. You really have to perfect your power shields if you want to make the MU a bit easier.

Villager actually does way better than Wii Fit as a character. I secondary the character and it's sad how easy it is to beat Match ups Wii fit struggles with. Villager inmo is literally a better Wii Fit. Only reason I main Wii fit still is because no one else really uses the character or places well with him. JohnNumbers and Tkbrezzy do in the EC, but no one does in the WC. That's why I use Wii Fit.

Eh, Yoshi feels difficult, you can't just shrug off his aerials when he's pressuring you, his whole gameplay against projectile characters is NOT to combat their camp game with eggs, but to rush them down with falling aerials, and his pressure game is ridiculous. Sure, playing keep away make him easy to see coming, but avoiding his aerials is like a RPS. You might or not be able to just avoid it.

And despite I play both WFT and Villager, I can't really imagine the matchup...

That's why you must play patient and force the Yoshi to do stupid moves or punish him. He's extremely beatable if you play patient. Yoshis do out range with aerials, but always keep a distance and strike accordingly. Attacking him head on will only get you combosd badly. Keeping a full charged sun at all times is ideal, because it goes through his eggs and you can hit him when he's approaching with aerials. Always good to throw out jump cancelled headers out, because they make great anti air support.

Fit's playstyle is very punish-based, and Yoshi might just be the most difficult to punish of anyone in the game. Think shorthopped f-airs and then retreating after the hitbox. Fit's got literally no way to respond to that except if she has room to run away and hope for a better neutral game elsewhere. He can't be shorthopped against, outspams her projectiles, and trumps her air game with superior range, priority, active frames, and even super armor, and can immediately change directions if an attack whiffs.

Villager is easy to punish with an agile character because of his awful run speed and dodges/rolls. And she out-stalls him with healing. No matter how bad that matchup gets, you can't say it's worse for her than fighting someone like Shulk or Dedede. She can't even roll through their tilts and get into her own attack range.

Shulk and DeDeDe's don't even give her trouble. Villager does

I cannot take someone seriously if they actually believe Villager is a simple MU for Wii Fit and Yoshi is impossible... I'm done here.

I used to think the Villager matchup was difficult, but ever since I started jumping over the Lloyd rockets instead of blocking/destroying them, it hasn't been quite as tough. Charged SS I think beats the slingshot too, and you can heal/charge when he's trying to set up his tree. That said, I tend to think perceived matchup difficulty depends on personal experience, so it's probably all relative anyways.

Really? This is quite a list. The only matchups I struggle with are sheik mario pikachu and sometimes megaman. I think it might be a difference in playstyle and matchup knowledge some matchups it is actually best to go in with wii fit trainer and i personally play aggresively and have more success in playing aggressively rather than defensively. My style is inspired more by waveguider and tkbreezy. I find the camp game to be too predictable. Against someone with patience and good reaction timing i would think the match would be frustrating but most of the time i see wii fit trainers struggling it is because they are trying to force a camp game that isnt working and dont know how to utilize her upclose tools.

I used to think the Villager matchup was difficult, but ever since I started jumping over the Lloyd rockets instead of blocking/destroying them, it hasn't been quite as tough. Charged SS I think beats the slingshot too, and you can heal/charge when he's trying to set up his tree. That said, I tend to think perceived matchup difficulty depends on personal experience, so it's probably all relative anyways.
i also love that villager has no hitbox on his recovery. once you get him offstage and force him to use his up b thats when the edgeguarding begins

I agree every wii fit trainer ive spoken too seems to struggle in different matchups. for example i find beating rosalina easy however other WFT mains say its one of her worst matchups. perhaps we need a forum on what is best for certain matchups. I was thinking of actually uploading replays of some of my matches so we can gauge certain matchups with different playstyles.

There seems to be a lot of debate on aggresive/campy wii fit trainer. It could be possible that playstyle should change based on matchups. In matchups against other zoning characters such as r.o.b pacman, or villager, wii fit trainer has to approach and should with some good baits and reads. Maybe ill start uploading matchup replays that i have so that wii fit trainer mains can have a united sense of how to play wii fit trainer with in all of the unique and individual matchups. I just have to figure out how to upload replays.

I've had the luxury to play against some of the best players around the world. I've played against so many amazing players who each have mastered the characters I've listed above. Wii Fit struggles against all of them that I listed, but he/she can still win. You say the camp game is too predictable? Not to sound rude but I've gotten high placings with default Wii fit in stacked regionals that have pro players such as Zero, Mr. R, Vinnie, Tyrant and others in them and got top 32 at Evo with the camp style. I have yet to see any aggressive Wii fit get a high placing at a major tournament that has pro players in them. I do change up my style against certain characters that I know that the camp game doesn't work on. I don't play against everyone the same and I do mix my stuff up. That's how I manage to place well with Wii Fit. I personally do not see an aggressive Wii fit to be ideal, because I haven't seen one place very well in a stacked pro filled tournament.

Off topic question, but why hasn't JohnNumbers vs Zero battle at Evo been uploaded on YouTube yet? I wasn't able to watch it while at Evo sadly. :(

I definitely wasnt trying to say you are wrong but possibly what one may consider a bad matchup may not be a matchup for someone else i know wii fit has alot of bad matchups but just speaking from personal experience i havent struggled with a lot of her matchups that are bad on paper. Im sure that you are more than capable player I was just interested in hearing all of the different opinions on playstyle and matchups. Im really intersted in seeing your tournaments are their any vids online or a stream i can follow where you play at your tourneys. I want to start going to tourneys.

I dont know why john numbers match hasnt been uploaded yet. Ive been looking to watch it but if you watch numbers versus false playing sheik at Big house of cards you can tell he has been practicing the sheik matchup.

Yo man, chill, don't double post anymore please. I f you want to add anything to your previous post, use the "Edit" button.

Now, let me tell you, I regularly play Customs, and that list of bad matchups shrinks in a very notable way. It's great to gain a move that hits small opponents when uncharged, and a great neutral pressure/Shield pressure move.

My list was about default Wii Fit and I do agree that customs do make almost all of his bad MU's hella easy. Customs are dead now, so there really isn't a point in discussing them to be honest.

Has anyone noticed that deep breathing's healing goes down to 1% if you use it repeatedly? Or was it like that ever since?

New maintenance coming this weekend/Monday. The times indicated are the same as almost every DLC/patch update has been in the past, so be prepared for any buffs/nerfs just in case.

I'm a little worried just because a few other games are undergoing maintenance around those times as well, but we can definitely be hopeful for the good stuff in terms of game balance.

I'm looking at you, Sheik

But more importantly, we'll see how Wii Fit responds when her intense workouts finally gets her some results. Does she go lax, or does she keep up the pace when her hard work gets her some noticeable improvements?

So apparently we missed some buffs:

Wiifit[Fair Landing Lag] : 18.0 => 16.0
Wiifit[Bair Landing Lag] : 19.0 => 17.0
Wiifit[Uair Landing Lag] : 16.0 => 14.0
Wiifit[Dair Landing Lag] : 28.0 => 24.0

and
  • Hit lag modifiers greater than 1.0 are now safer on shield than before (Marth, Ryu, Roy, etc) dividing the hit lag frames the attacker receives by 1.25 (minimum 1.0)
which will affect how safe certain moves -- mainly fair(1.5 hitlag), jumbo hoop (1.5 hitlag), enriched sun(1.5 hitlag) and bair (1.2 hitlag) are on shield which with the lag reduction might change how her neutral functions a bit. We'll definitely need to experiment considering things like SHAD uair/bair and crossup fair were already decent.

Turns out the data was correct but the labels were swapped somewhere along the line and that was either Marth's or Lucina's. Hitlag modifiers are still a thing but no aerials are strong in neutral yet.
