  • Getting good at this point is how miserable and down the rabbit hole you're willing to go to get it.

At the end of the day, it's probably the ****ty dilemma of life. If you can't justify if it's worth suffering for, why the hell are you doing it.
It's kind of surprising how well Joker's F Smash kills without Arsene. It probably feels a lot weaker because of the sound effect.
I love how people can directional airdodge into the ground and STILL have time to, not only get away from a frametrap, but punish said frametrap. Amazing game design.
People wonder why I throw attacks in the air and "press buttons" so much, but that's basically the only real way to play this ****ing game. You can never really punish things on reaction, simple things like a guy sitting in shield or an airdodge, but they can always just do something straight afterwards. By the time you react to it, you've already comitted and the guy is probably punishing you for it.
Not even a whole year since Ultimate came out and I've contemplated quitting at least 3-4 times. Can't see much of a bright future.

    Competitiveness is miserable.
I'll never understand the people that say they play better in tournament. I play like absolute ass crack, in tournament. Everything about my play automatically becomes worse.
    Wifi Zeldas offend me.

The only reason for me to watch it is because of the memes.

Other than that, the anime (correct me if I'm wrong) fails the Bechdel test, and probably won't be among my must-watches.
Competitiveness is an absolute curse of life. The only way out is to win, but you're pretty much miserable all the way through.
If we didn't have the drive for competition, life would be better. There'd be no war.

There's no need to improve on what doesn't have flaws in the first place.

Most of the big inventions and breakthroughs have been through simple curiosity and accidents tbh. I don't think those "damn fools and their flying machines" had competition in mind, when they tried to fly. Nor did they probably envision how much they would revolutionize travel. They literally just wanted to fly.

Competition is really only necessary in structures designed for competition. If you actually truly love what you do, you would do it regardless of any external accolades or material rewards. It's why lots of scientists, artists, and inventors were poor, ridiculed, and even killed for their endeavors. And lots of them never even received any recognition or gratitude for their achievements until well after their death.

Current industry innovation is bound by budget constraints and artificial monopolies. That's why "competition" is necessary to innovate and progress. I'd imagine if the world were to get rid of patents and leverage technology to greatly reduce, or even remove the necessity for labor, you would find plenty of people to happily spend their time innovating and refining whatever industry or product they're into. And hell, you find people who do those things without getting paid or looking for external validation right now in the first place, and call it "a hobby".

As for me, I'm happiest just playing Smash, without any desire for ranks or "being the best". I find "being the best" a finite endeavor, as there are only so many people you can be better than. Improving yourself may very well be infinite though, at least by mortal standards. So I just simply improve and have fun, with winning and being good at the game coming as a byproduct of that. Not to mention how painful being obsessed about winning will be, in an environment that makes it impossible to ever win all the time.

It's how I can laugh and screw around, while my friends and other people get frustrated trying to beat me and yet still never manage to do so. It's the difference between trying to win through rank and tournament wins versus sheer fundamentals brought about by continuing to do what you love. Do you love competition or do you love the game? The approaches might not seem all that different, but one fosters a much more positive and happy state of mind than the other.

If I can ever manage to grasp that concept, it'll likely do a whole lot for me. Because let's be honest, I've managed to stick around through all the dissapointments I've had throughout the years, and still going. I look back, and it's only really been the love for the game that's kept me going. If anything, I may come to realise that this "desire" to win and do better (through ranking) is just what I understood to be the language other people speak, and thereby the only way to be aknowledged. That's where I went wrong.

If you take all of the artificial filters, there's no denying you still love the game and have a genuine desire to improve. Everytime I want contemplating on quitting, I always simply realise I have a lot of interesting plays, and it's hard to leave that behind.

Is there a reason Leon's shield drop Side Bs are working far more than they should be?
    Wigglerman

He plays Bowser, right? Far as I'm aware, Bowser's Side B is really good out of shield if someone attacks from the front and doesn't cross up (In which case, Up B is the usual option). It's a pretty fast grab and has the Tough Guy protection if they aren't hitting hard enough to stop it. I get grabbed a lot for being wreckless against defensive Bowsers because it's pretty difficult to get out of the way in time if I attack the shield. Free damage.

It's actually not fast when you're considering it's out of a shield drop, which is my main concern. It'd be a lot faster to just grab, which is like Frame 8-10 (and basically the same range, too). If he's grabbing you out of that, you're clearly doing something wrong. I've even seen him Side B Pichu's Fair on shield. Either Pichu's Fair is really that laggy on shield, or VoiD literally did nothing afterwards.

Shield drop Side B is Frame 17. There's absolutely something wrong.

Hard to say. Maybe it's element of surprise, not what they expected? Match up could still be a little funky for some? Could be a lot of reasons. Probably will keep doing it until it stops working on people, punish them for lack of knowledge or bad plays with big damage or even a KO from it. Tis weird but not the weirdest stuff to happen in Smash lol
It's really hard to use stuff like Quickplay if you want to genuinely get better. It's really easy to lose track of purpose, and alot of the time you just end up going with the flow, wasting time and getting upset about silly things (i.e "teabagging"). You really have to have the right mindset and go in with a specific goal, but hardly ever to just win matches.
Getting all kinds of whack with Zelda. Now I just need to polish it and keep it consistent. People seriously don't realise how stupid she can be.
How old is Smash Ultimate Zelda.

Looking back, Smash 4 comebacks weren't all that special. You were only really a stock away, and RAGE just helped.

It still happens in Ultimate sadly, but to a lesser extent.

Not really. RAGE is reduced, and the extra stock makes it feel like you earned it.
I'm stuck without progress in basically every aspect of my life.

Well, you admitted it so that's progress. *wait, did I just make a loophole?*
It's ridiculous how good you feel after getting stuff done. Like, simple things. I tend to put everything off. I'm an expert procrastinator. I folded all of my clothes and did all the dishes, and it feels really good that I'll wake up in the morning and won't have to do it.

I'd legit probably be doing better with K.Rool than I do with Banjo in tournament right now. :D
Smash 4 people onwards, liek, "-2 unwinnable matchup"

I had fun playing Brawl Falcon against Brawl Pika jabbing and winning (Opponents can't even CG the sequence right)
Zelda's Spanish voice is so much better than her English voice, in BoTW. :D
