If I’m to be honest, as popular as the ideas of Goku, Shrek, and SpongeBob are, I like the idea of Aang more then any of them.

Not that Aang is the only good option from Avatar, but he is my overall favorite. Both as an Avatar character and as a non-video game character.

…what’s wrong with goku, shrek and spongebob?

Champion of Hyrule Champion of Hyrule It's just that a lot of people, and I do mean A LOT, have requested them, especially in the Smash Ballot.

Honestly, I think it'd be pretty cool to see the Ninja Turtles in Smash, with their movesets based on the Konami games. Maybe even James Bond.

I am surprised James Bond was not as requested as Shrek, Goku or Spongebob in the days of the ballot. I mean, sure, there is the video game character rule, and many may not be aware that James Bond was said to be planned for Melee at one point, but I think he has more history with Nintendo than the other three I have mentioned had, if you know what I mean.

By the way, about James Bond...

"For his neutral special, he wields a gun!"

Sorry, but I had to.

Sakurai never actually said he was considering bond for Melee. He only stated the reasons why bond couldn’t be included.

I figured something like that, but I did say he was "said" to be planned. By "said", I was not fully confident if that was really the case. Still, Bond was mentioned nonetheless, was he not? I am still sure he would make more sense than the other three characters I mentioned.

It'd be cool if they put Mario from that one movie (I forgot its name) in the game :troll:

Jokes aside, I think it'd be awesome to see some kind of board game get in somehow or another. I know I've joked in the past about the merits of a Chess rep in the Smash series, but I do genuinely think that board games have interesting potential to represent the genesis of the "game" and still be related directly to Smash's theming whilst also providing a unique take on the formula. Then again, you could theoretically argue that a Chess rep would technically be a Wii Chess or Clubhouse Games character, but I digress.

That being said, in terms of specifics, I'd quite like to see King, who'd have a moveset with somewhat of a summoner archetype (being able to summon Pawns for lower-powered attacks for disjoints, or more powerful moves with more unique effects being connected to more powerful pieces - maybe a Knight that charges forward before kicking upward, or a Rook that allows the King to teleport a bit like Orcane's up special in Rivals (in reference to "castling".) There's a lot of potential for integrating the mechanics of chess into a platfighter character, and it'd be incredibly interesting to see how they'd be handled.
