Going to agree on the "what she wears" part, I got into an argument with a guy claiming she "is a waifu".

Funny thing is I'm in an argument there about her right now. I can tell we have quite a few supporters on that end as well, though.

We still don't have official confirmation. Denying that doesn't break NDA nor does it confirm anything since Nintendo hasn't said anything. Besides, it's not as though Shovel Knight disconfirms Shantae in any way or form.

I wouldn't count Quote out. He's arguably the biggest indie character in Japan seeing as that's where he originated. Wouldn't be surprised if we got Quote as a Japanese indie rep, Shovel Knight as a Western indie rep, and then Shantae as the middleman/woman as she has presence in both areas.
