  • “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.”

    -Job 3:25
I've tried 3 different pairs of Joycons, and I can't really understand if the problem is me or my first pair. I'm trying my first pair, and I feel them really fine right now. I've tried them with Kazuya and then with Zelda, which are the ones I can tell the most. The EWGF timing seems to change a bit between them, but it's mostly due to how the stick feels. Newer sticks are stiffer, and I remembered my first pair feeling like that, but now I feel them being loose honestly helps.

It's hard, because I'm never really sure where the problem stems from. Since I have three of them right now, I'm trying to at least narrow down to one or two of them as to at least get fully used to it and not have to re-adjust. Is it psychological? Is it physiological? Can't even tell.

It might be the diagonal input that is the issue. A stiffer stick might help you feel the timing of the transition of the stick from down to down forward. Mine is pretty bad and it is pretty iffy where I land on the stick. Sometimes I angle tilts when I don't want to and other times I miss it when I do want to.
Looks like I'm surprisingly good at dash """camping""". I was winning a lot of exchanges and whiff punishing. So much for my "impatience".

Sounds like you are on the right track then. Just be careful of doing it too much and your opponent punishing it with a burst option.

I don't understand how UltimateFrameData says Zelda's Up B is -19 on shield, when I've literally gotten shield drop smash attacked, and many times to count.
    S
    StoicPhantom
Landing lag might factor in too. I remember it was something massive like 30 frames.
    Oz o:
    Oz o:
There's no landing lag if it's grounded. **** is like -30.

    StoicPhantom
Ah, when you said -19 I assumed you were talking about the aerial version. Yeah, the ground version is laggy on shield and there definitely is room for a lot of smash attacks.

Is he really that bad though?🤔 (I haven't played Tekken since the early games).

I haven't really played any of them, save maybe when I was really young and I knew nothing about it's lore. To me, it was just a fighting game that had a literal ****ing bear.

I looked it up, and it says he really is just bad. He used to be a hero before, but now The Devil within consumed him entirely (but apparently he let it).
Looks like I finally re-adjusted my EWGF timing...after like three weeks. It was a mix of my stick deteriorating and switching to a new one. The timing is definitely different, and it made no sense how I randomly started doing Wind God Fist out of the blue. So frustrating to practice something for over a month, only to randomly start misinputting and having to essentially re-learn the timing.

My keyboard doesn't look as good as the Frame1.

Good video for people that can't afford these, but I don't think I want to worry about the extra wear to my keyboard. I'm ok with the paying the extra for something that'll last me the hours I put into these games.

Though the point is moot anyways as I guess the Frame1 and the others are severely backlogged. From what I hear it takes people several months to get theirs. I might think about building my own if that is the case lol.

I thought the Smashbox had one of those arcade sticks, but it's just buttons. If that's the case, it doesn't seem too different from a keyboard, which are generic and a lot cheaper.

A Smashbox is literally built for Smash, though, and they're also a lot more aesthetic (if that matters to you).
    S
    StoicPhantom
Aesthetics are certainly a plus, but the issue is more ergonomics. Keyboards will work with the layout and are decent alternatives, but they aren't ideal. The problem is a lack of space on the keyboards versus one of the boxes so things became rather cramped. There's just simply not enough space to prevent cramping your hand to hit the those buttons. There's more room on the box which means your hands can move in a more relaxed position.

I'm going to play around with it when I get a chance, but I can already tell that it won't be great long-term. I think I need a little more vertical space than my keyboard offers. Though my keyboard is on the small side too.
Well, turns out I finally got my account back. I went through a whole process, because Nintendo needed to personally call me, but I had concern over whether or not the call itself would be expensive. Apparently, receiving calls is different than calling yourself.

Unironically, I've been teetering from lack of sleep the past couple days. This infernal heat + humidity has made it difficult to get any consistent sleep. I dunno about those other guys, but I'll be glad when autumn rolls around.
    Jesus said:

"I stood in the midst of the world, and I appeared to them in flesh. I found them all drunk, I found none among them thirsting; and my soul was afflicted for the sons of men, for they are blind in their heart and they do not see. For empty came they into the world, seeking also to depart empty from the world. But now they are drunk. When they have thrown off their wine, then will they repent."

Out of the mud, crawling up through the quicksand
Leaving the dark, coming into the light
Don't lay me down, save your last rites
'Cause I'm still standing above ground

Back from the dead alive, hell couldn't hold me
Back from the other side, up from the dirt I rise

I have trouble believing adult men play that way.
Born on the right side of the wrong side
I wear my ****ing insides on my outsides
You can see my heartbeat, it beats right through
And till the day it stops, I'm gonna mother****ing persecute
    Every single one of you
I'm not alone, I got the devil, and he's coming too
Coming through to straight mother****ing bury you
Someone's gotta die and I'm ****ing bulletproof

Let me tell you a story, it's about a little kid
Who never really understood much of anything he did
He had a chest full of heart and a body full of scars
In a broke down palace on a broken boulevard
And he was faithless, but he lived through all the hurt
'Cause every time he did he knew he got what he deserved
Had to hold onto the fire even if he had to burn
Any pain became the only way that he could ever learn

So thankless, but he knew that he could take this
Everything then came apart so one day he could make this
It's a song for the nameless, that's ageless
Hold onto my hand, I'll show you scripture in these pages

I think this can be directed at pretty much anyone, unless you've achieved everything you wanted in your life... which really isn't most people.

It depends. Someone who was born with various illnesses is likely not going to achieve their goals depending on what they are and what their circumstances are.

Most of the people I've known just don't have any real desire to engage in anything higher level or even try to better themselves. They just do whatever is convenient and follow the path of least resistance. Much of their problems stem from being short-sighted and only picking the most convenient option even if it causes problems down the line.

But I've known people that really could do anything they put their mind to. The problem was that they were frequently barred from doing so because of external circumstances. I know someone that was really good at American football and practiced his ass off. Even though he was good enough to be a starter at his school he ended being put in reserve because the local rich families wanted their kids to start. Even though he creamed them in practice scrimmages, he was prevented by the coach and administration from actually realizing his potential. He eventually quit because he didn't want to let down his family and be a perpetual benchwarmer.

He had goals and aspirations when he became an adult, but the economy and especially the lockdowns from the pandemic really ****ed up the job market here in the US. Young people like himself were already struggling, but the last year has been especially terrible. He was gathering resources to start up his new career, but he's had to put all that on the back burner because he's having difficulty finding a stable job and a place to live.

He may succeed eventually, but he's a good example of how you can have the right stuff and it's the world that is what's wrong. That's before getting into those of us who are disabled and are physically prevented from being able to do some things. I know I had to let go a lot of things because they simply weren't feasible.

But most people take things for granted so they never realized what they could potentially be even if they had ideal circumstances.

Steam sales are usually a steal for us, but the newer games are all ridiculously priced, like full console titles (probably 60 US$). I can't imagine SC6 dropping to about 1/4th of that price.
    S
    StoicPhantom
If you're wiling to wait and keep an eye out for publisher sales or Steam's annual summer and winter sales then you can find even newer games for absurdly cheap. That's one of the pluses of PC gaming even if it has a higher initial investment than consoles do. Though SC6 released a little before Ultimate did so it isn't that new.

I can't say if that is true country to country, but keep an eye out going forward and you might find a decent deal on it. Though it might be a while since we just had the summer sale and Bandai Namco sale not too long ago.

I haven't looked into any of his combos, but it feels to me that DI affects them enough to be mixups a lot of the time. I don't see how you could consistently land those without needing to back off sometimes.
I play offline earlier could barely get anything but is was coolio.
At least I'm a lot more consistent with EWGF, even with a very laggy TV.
