I just wanted to say that pretty much any character can do this. In Ike's case it's easier to see it with Nair. I too have experimented with this. Uair works, not as well as Nair but it's still effective if you have decent button control or you'll end up doing a jump cancelled up smash.

Hmm...I normally just tap the joystick the direction I want to aim and the imput is registered. Then I just use any b move I want and it comes out in the direction that I wanted.

I can care less. I just use anyone I find fun and not care bout how well a character places. If theyre looked down on, I'll make an effort to prove people wrong.
