Playing all day Friday and through Saturday morning, ZeRo came up with his biggest win yet in the young life of Super Smash Brothers for Wii U. His win over Europe's Mr. R keep his record in 2015 unblemished and for the achievement in front of thousands at EVO and over 90,000 Twitch viewers, ZeRo will take home $11,556. The prize pool for Super Smash Brothers Wii U had no pot bonus, but the huge number of entrants has allowed ZeRo to take home the second largest 1st place prize of all time for Smash. The current record holder is Gnes for taking home $12,500 at MLG Dallas in 2010.

Zero and Mr. R Embrace after a hard fought finals

Check out the results for top 8 and stay tuned for full results in the coming days. You can watch the epic moment when Zero took the final game here! Possibly even more impressive than Zero's win streak was a record he set at EVO 2015 in not dropping a game the entire tournament.

Zero doubt he'd come on top.

The competition for first prize was near zero.

Okay, okay, we all saw this coming.
But WHO SAW DIDDY COMING? This was a massive moment, showing that despite nerfs, the character is still strong, and that you don't need to play Sheik to win. Absolute hype.

Abadango played Pac-Man up until the finals, counterpicking Wario to deal with the Shiek matchups in Zero and Mr. R (though he lost both, still did better than Pac would). But Pac-Man should definitely be listed as one of Abadango's characters.

The bigger they are, the harder they fall. I'm sure a lot of people are gunning for you now Zero. Congrats.

Abadango was the only Japan player in Top 8. RIP Rain and aMSa and Nietono. Oh god Nietono didn't even go far.

Everyone expected this outcome tbh.
You should write Sheik before Diddy Kong for characters Zero used though.

Looks like he wins again, but I'm surprised that Dabuz only got 5th place though.

Zero has much better fundamentals and mastery of the neutral game so it is not surprising. Nairo came the closest but he kept missing his mark and SDing. Way too much SDing and missed techs in Top 32 hopefully that changes down the line the game is still very young. Players also need to learn more match ups and learn to counterpick stages better like seriously Abadango switched to Rosalina against a Shiek and then went to Battlefield that is two big mistakes. Their also was a lot more variety this tournament and a few upsets. The tournament was filled with hype and was run so much better than Apex 2015. Now that customs was shown to add a lot more to the game than it takes away we can bring the meta game forward and ignore the anti custom scrubs.

You're calling Zero an anti-custom scrub? He has led the charge against them lmao.

He did get put into loser's bracket fairly early if I'm not mistaken. I can't remember who put him in loser's though.

I think it was either ESAM, Larry Lurr, or Static Manny. I'm probably wrong though.

Am I the only one that finds it ironic that the last hit to win the game was Diddy's Hoo Hah?
To be honest.....It was a pretty lame ending to an already predictable and anti-climactic finals.

Quite honestly the best tournament for Smash 4 ever. Such a strong showing, and it continues to make me very hopeful for the game's future in a competitive light. Grats to the winners! Top 8 was full of phenomenal players whom all deserved their spots.

I remember it was Static Manny, but I did hope he can get a bit higher...
Sadly and frankly to say, I didn't really watch any of the Dabuz match because I was sleeping during most of the EVO tournament (Stupid time zones...), but I did heard that one of Dabuz match stream was cut for some what reason, I know it was just a joke, but did it really happened?
Urgh... just why do I feel Dabuz was sort of... despised?

can someone please knock him out in a tournament just once? seriously I don't think M2K was even winning this many notable tournaments in brawl in a row, and he was using the most broken character in smash history.:psycho:

Its like every single large scale tournament zero goes to, he pwns everyone. Its kinda getting repetitive at this point

Eh, congrats I guess.

I'm looking foward the day ZeRo loses :p

We all knew he was going to win anyway, so there wasn't much surprise factor...

Even though I wanted someone to finally beat ZeRo at this tournament, I've got to admit, that finishing string was awesome.

It's kinda sad how much people seem upset that ZeRo won, yet they didn't actually watch the rest of the tourney, wich was pretty hype overall, if not for a handful of matches (thanks to some customs).
