Funnily enough the person who made that video is actually a friend of mine.

Yes, sir.

Those chapters aren't revised yet though, so the quality might be a bit questionable.

English. Don't worry, Portuguese is a nightmare for me too, I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. By the way I also tend to get tenses mixed up a lot.
Yeah, I remember when I moved back to Brazil for awhile and took a Portuguese class for one semester, I was totally lost. On the other hand, having school end at noon was kinda neat :p

Also, is that link above the story you wanted to be revised?

When I think about it, it's kinda sad that I do better with English than with my native language. My English is almost all self-taught too.

And yeah, though I already have the prologue revised, I just didn't update it in FF.net yet. So the first actual chapter is the one that needs some revision done.

I've seen this comic before but I've never noticed Pikachu with the Arceus photo lol.
I like that comic, it's hilarious. And why Pikachu mention Arceus in that comic anyway.
Got sent to loser's by a :rosalina:. ://

And also apparently our fun was too much for the Rosalina boards to handle. They took their revenge I suppose. ://///

GGs rekt 2-for-1.
No, we had some dilemma that should we transformed to a social thread like this thread? Or be more strict, because of your raid our thread has turned into a Social thread! Go check it out!
And I'm not mad anymore, you can come and chat with us about nearly anything!
A raid that wasn't worth because both sides didn't gain anything from it. There's always next time. :/
Always welcome, but only if you have anything you would like to share with us, don't just spam, I want things that are interesting.:)

Well for being self-taught, that's pretty damn impressive. Your English is better than a lot of people I know of who are born in English speaking countries.

Also, do you mind pm'ing me your story on here? That way I have the link readily available whenever. I can take a look at it for you if you would like.

hey! me too! but I edit my post because I always had more to say when I finished a post. And you show know that not everyone take their English as their first language.
Your telling me Japanese don't learn English first?
Snotty sarcastic comments aside, grammar still bugs me. Even when I work on other languages I hate doing my assignments because I feel like I always screwed up. It just one of those issues I had as a kid and I was never able to improve, now I'm stuck correcting myself at every turn. It kinda sucks that I can't just let it go

Funny story though, the way I learned English was basically that I once saw my uncle playing Kingdom Heart: Chain of Memories in a GBA emulator, the game looked fun so I decided to download it myself. I was curious about the plot though, so I looked if there was anywhere with a translation of the script and there was. I then began comparing the words of the translation with the ones from the game and from that I basically learned English sentence structure as well as a good number of words and I just expanded from there just by comparing the two texts.

tl;dr: Kingdom Hearts taught me English in a weekend better than teachers did in years.

And the funniest part is that I never did beat the whole game.

Anyway, I'll send you the link by PM, no problem.

This story makes me feel like I should get to playing 7th Dragon 2020 without a translation in an effort to learn Japanese.

I don't get your meaning... in Taiwan English is actually our subject, Japanese is just like us, very strict when educating English. And calm down...what I mean is my English ability is still average, hope you understand.

speaking of

just got an in-game tip stating that WFT's usmash has a window of full invincibility

learn something every day
Unfortunately its horizontal hitbox is poop. But I saw that hit a while ago.

I was amused by a tip that advised you to mix up Link's Jab combo with USmash/DSmash, which means that little trick was intended.

I gotta play one of you Zelda mains sometime. I lost to one on For Glory today although I wasn't playing as well as I could have. I just went too yolo and got FSmashed. I probably have some bad habits right now from trying to beat Classic on 9.0 on the Wii U. Screw the 5+ free-for-alls, screw the fighting Mii Team, and screw Master Giant/Fortress.

Great read @ FullMoon FullMoon , really cute story so far.

I have some friends who were raised in foreign countries who came to America and they think English is an easy language. I agree with this after my personal experiences in learning Spanish. We agreed that the grammar in English is really simple compared to a lot of other languages. I think that a lot native English speakers really overrate the difficulty of learning exceptions in pronunciation, when we only have 2 ways to conjugate most verbs in the present tense and only one conjugation for every other tense.

And then they say video games aren't educational :p

I never tried the KH games, but I actually happened to listen to a song called KH: Chain of Memories, or perhaps it was a remix, and it was amazing.

And alrighty, I'll take a look at it when I get the chance. With no distracting people in the background yelling at Call of Duty multiplayer, that is <.<

Thank you!

And yeah, English feels really simple to me, except pronounciation but even that is not that bad. Portuguese though... Oh man. I've also studied Spanish and despite it being more similar to Portuguese in structure, I still have an easier time with English.

Hey, Kingdom Hearts taught me English and Touhou probably taught me everything I know about Japanese mythology and single-handedly made me very interested in Japanese culture. Video games probably do a better job at teaching me things than school.

Yeah, unfortunate indeed. I guess. I don't play the character, so it's technically better for me if she's bad :secretkpop:

I'm still baffled...if they intended jab1>dsmash and jab1>usmash, how the hell did they not realize that would make jab1>jab1>jab1>jab(ry a thing? You'd think it'd at least cause pushback after the third hit or something like most dtilts...

I gotta play one of you Zelda mains sometime. I lost to one on For Glory today although I wasn't playing as well as I could have. I just went too yolo and got FSmashed.

excuse me sir, that attack doesn't kill

And TV. Gotta love it when you're watching trivia shows like Jeopardy and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and you get question right, which you can then proudly proclaim you knew the answer from watching an episode of SpongeBob.

Speaking about learning languages, my story with English is one @Ffamran will probably like, since I basically learned more advanced English by watching the Looney Toons when I was a kid. I took it upon myself to watch cartoons in SAP most of the time, and Bugs and Daffy thaught me a lot of things, hahaha. I was pretty advanced in English for a kid in elementary school.

Then came the internet and some nerd friends from the Björk forum nazi'd me until I learned proper grammar and punctuation. To this day I think my grammar is better than a lot of native English speakers'.

At least from what I've seen in YouTube comments :'D

And yet you think Nazi is a verb.

Though in all seriousness, anyone that grew up on Looney Toons did their childhood right; props to you for learning a language from it, too.

The wonders of English. You can transform any word into a verb by adding the -ed suffix :p.

Or a 'd or wtv.

That's actually something I like about English, I think it's a very flexible language, even if that kinda thing is not actually correct. Spanish is a stiff mofo that hates everyone and is super hard to learn. Spanish grammar is sadness.

Oh, well, I am now relieved. Before reading your comment I was a bit nervous.
No,no,no, English, in fact, is widely taught in high schools in many Asian countries, but only a few students can be good enough to use it on a daily basis like me, even more few of them will use it in Smashboards.

I was going to say something about that until I thought about how I would turn nouns into verbs in French, and realized it doesn't exactly work the same way it would in English (even if it's still technically wrong in English). It's an odd thought to a native English speaker, but other languages really don't have the same flexibility, do they?

Languages are a funny thing.

I learned english by watching cartoons, too.
For example, I watched and pretty much learned every episode of Teen Titans for the dubbed version, so it was easy too keep up with whenever I watched the original one.
Few more cartoons, movies and tv shows, an effort to keep track of subs and dialogue (and I discovered that like 90% of the subs are terrible), a bit of polishing during middle school, and voila, BBR/Mod material (who still watches cartoons).

Oh god, don't get me started on the terrible subtitles.

I worked as a translator for a while for a company called SDI Media. They sub shows into many different languages, and have offices all over the globe. They also had pretty high standards (props to them), so I learned a thing or two about subtitles and how to properly do them. You know, breaks in lines, proper translations, trying to translate word plays without losing the original meaning, proof reading, etc.

It made going to the movies a chore :'D. Now, every time I watch something with subtitles I cringe SO MUCH because of how terrible they are. It's like all those standards were completely lost or something. It's even worse because cinema subs seem to be the worst.

I recently attended a screening of Evangelion 3.0 in the theatre, and the subtitles were godawful. Oh, also, if you ever watched it, the Netflix series Knights of Sydonia....

God, the subtitles both in English and Spanish were SO bad. I was SO pissed during the whole thing that I almost didn'tfinish it. Just cause my boyfriend was really into it and convinced me of watching the dub, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it until the end.

I was going to say something about that until I thought about how I would turn nouns into verbs in French, and realized it doesn't exactly work the same way it would in English (even if it's still technically wrong in English). Yeah, different grammars totally have different ways you can bend the language. Turning nouns into verbs in Spanish is also possible (albeit still technically wrong), but it doesn't sound nearly as good as it does in English, since verbs have different suffixes for every tense in conjugation. Meaning every verb has like 17 variables in Spanish :'D.

Turning nouns into verbs in Spanish and English is technically the same since you transform a noun into an infinitive form, but yeah, it's less classy.

And then I realized I am sitting on my couch at 1:30am, drunk, trying my hardest to remember French grammar rules in an attempt to say "He Nazi'd me to death over my grammar" in a foreign language.

C'est la vie.

I spent a lot of my life thinking I would die without ever having touched a drop of alcohol.

Then I found out rum is ****ing delicious.

I plan to stay resolute on drinking only for taste though. Having an alcoholic father, I've seen what that **** can do to someone's life and I want no part of it (and, honestly I don't enjoy being drunk anyway). Not to mention it's an expensive habit anyway.

Yeah, so long as you know your own limits, you're good.

I'm definitely not the kind to get drunk constantly, but I do like getting a shot or two of tequila every once in a while. And yeah, I agree that rum is tastey, but I think it's better when it's spiced. Brandi is pretty good too.

Sorry to hear about your dad, though I'm glad to hear you've got no intention of following his footsteps. I was the same with cigarettes, since my parents both smoked like chimneys when I was young. My older brother actually developed chronic bronchitis because of all the years he spent surrounded by second-hand smoke.

I had sorta made a vow not to ever smoke, but stress coming from my job made me cave in and I started smoking like 4 years ago, although not as much as my parents. Thankfully my lil' brother made me promise I wouldn't smoke again and I've stayed clean for a year.

Vices definitely aren't a cool thing. :/

Yeah, @ DevaAshera DevaAshera had done a personal conversation to him, he just has a bit mental disorder. Alright, that's just a thing of a past let's stop caring about it for now.
To be fair, I only said I believe he may have a mental disorder.
She shows all the signs of being either Autistic, like myself but not nearly as well adjusted or pleasant, since he takes relatively unimportant issues and flips out over them as if they were life or death and seems to have an obsession with it (many with autism have obsessions, such as mine being video games), or he is a sociopath for the first reason listed along with his inability to empathize with others since he either can not or refuses to put himself into others shoes to try and understand how they feel and thinks others should just 'accept' his opinion while saying he accepts theirs, which he clearly does not.

He also said he 'knows' that all males who like Rosalina (or most of the other female characters) only like them for perverted reasons yet says its 'okay' if I like her 'if (I'm) really a girl', which is, quite frankly, extremely sexist (he also insulted my brother and friend when I said they like her, saying they just don't admit it and then somehow thinking such an implication wasn't insulting).
I also found out he doesn't like Peach or just about any of the female characters, likely for similar reasons, along with Sonic (whom he called Modern 'Hentai-quilled' Sonic) and just about any 'Japanese' characters (he said the 'best' versions of Mario & Sonic were the American Comic ones, which were both based on the old cartoons, so I suspect he just doesn't care for Japanese stuff in general).

I tried to have a civil conversation with him to help him to understand why people hate him and to get him to be more accepting of even things he loathes but was offended I told him to get over unimportant things and, essentially, suck it up along with believing that he can not be acting immature just because he feels he's intelligent, though I did inform him that Intelligence and Maturity are not connected and that even the most intelligent of people could act like an immature child.

To be quite honest, he reminds me of Chris-chan, the creator of Sonichu, and anyone here who knows who that is likely knows exactly what I mean..

Yeah... you already told me this back in the Rosalina Social thread.
Anyway, we have to take this as a lesson that we need to not other users feeling when expressing our opinions. So that we won't hurt each other's feelings.

IDK what's going on in this thread anymore . ^this sounds like something better kept to PMs.
Sorry... we know that things gets a bit out of hand. We'll stop.
And I know that even though this is a social thread, we still have to talk things that are Zelda related.

The subject doesn't have to be about Zelda in the social. It's probably better not to talk about a specific member unless you want to share with the class, so to speak. Just saying.

Well, that user was quite known of purchasing tons of Amiibos of his unfavorite character (And he seems to be really irritated of how Rosalina fans like her the most). I know there were some incidents that group of users mock a specific user, now that's cyberbully. Even though we might not agreed what he says, we should stay friendly.

Like this quote, I think I take this as an main rule to most of the Social threads. But again, I don't really like a large amount of raid to a specific character main thread. Of course we are welcome to chat, anything interesting rather than disgusting.:)

Idk I legit don't remember but I picked him up some time ago
You pick up a lot of characters many times ago lol

@Ffamran :4falco: D-tilt > F-air is a true combo. You need to land the 12% hitbox of d-tilt though. Works at 27% against Mario

Also, I picked up Palutena. At 114%, d-throw to u-air still combos and KO's at that percentage (Against Mario btw). I'd usually go for d-throw to n-air since it deals 1% more damage but when it's time to KO, u-air is the follow up I go for. This is all 3DS numbers by the way so d-throw > u-air probably KO's at lower percentages in the Wii U version (I think). So far, my strategy comes down to jab, grab, abuse b-air and dash attack, don't touch tilts, use f-air, counter sometimes. I feel like a good portion of her moveset is somewhat unusable

Well her tilts arent that bad, utilt is a combo finisher and anti-air. It also kills arround 105%. Ftilt reads spot dodges and rolls and also does high shield damage. Dtilt is zelda Usmash. Spam fair. She has jab shananigans like jab to grab, jab to Usmash, jab to fsmash. It's a good kill or grab set up. Only Dtilt is unusable

Yeah. I already know about her godlike jab

Also, the group of grape lovers (I included) finally finished the guide I was talking about T^T

Time to take a break with you guys (Relax in the social in other words). Let me know if there's a raid coming up

Let's raid the Marths next :)
I'll go watch. Don't go too far or post anything that's offensive, it can be funny, but don't make the Marth thread users panic, and then they ultimately close the thread. Maybe I'll take a few tries(Nah just kidding):awesome:

And don't consider raiding a post as a true harmless legit activity, a good raiding is try to spice up the conversation in the thread( If that's your goal.), you can go and cheer up then I won't say anything, just don't get too cocky if you know what I mean.
Enjoy your raid fellas! Stay enthusiastic! (And by the way, which thread will you raid on?)
