For any FE Heroes players, has anyone been losing more than usual in the Arena this week? I've been losing a lot and thought I just sucked but I checked my defense results and I've won against 3 other people? Wondering if they upped the AI or something so it was more challenging for everyone. Or at least for everyone not Olivia or Azura since the AI has no idea how to use refresh units at all lel

Surprisingly this was one of the battles I won. Both Takumi's were level 40 btw

I got roflstomped yesterday -- every team I made got hard countered like the game just knew who to match me with so I would have no chance of winning -- and today, I ended up getting matched with an all right team, a really bad and underleveled team -- the starting team of Alfonse, Anna, Sharena, and Virion all at level 23 to my lv ~28 units --, and a team that almost killed me -- I blame Camilla --, but Jakob sealed it. Subaki, your sacrifice was not in vain... Nor Sophia or Frederick who died again.

A problem I guess is that -- outside of people re-rolling for all the 5* units they can get -- apparently, a lot of units used to attack are apparently red sword units e.g. Lyn, Lucina, Marth, etc., so people defend with blue units. That's great for someone who has over half the green units in the game, right? Not really. 'Cause I would get screwed if I meet anyone with 2+ red units or anyone with 5* units. I remember fighting a team of three 5* units, Eirika, Ephraim, and Ogma, and one 4* who I don't remember, but think it was Takumi. If I choose to go the blue units route, well... yeah... All 3* units minus Sharena and I've been having -- as everyone knows -- trouble using and getting blue units. Trying to build a balanced team sucks when none of my blue units except Shanna who is way underleveled compared to the other blue units and Sharena are my only good options, I lack any other archer other than Virion, and my mages except for Merric kind of don't do well in arena -- Cecilia would get destroyed by anyone with good physical attacks, so her Gronnraven is pointless against units like Jakob, Kagerou, Saizo, and Takumi; F!Robin just got promoted, so she's level 1, and then there's Sophia.

Most of my victorious arena matches can be described by looking at who my avatar is right now: Virion. In Virion and Robin's supports, Virion wins against almost all of the chess games he plays against Robin. Why? His words:

"I won, yes, but at what cost? Half the moves I make in this game could never be used in a real battle. My own men would have my head on a pike before the enemy even reached me. No, this army needs a tactician who loathes the sacrifice of even a single man. It needs you, Robin."​

Basically, I win through slaughterfests making sure that the last unit standing is my own. Fire Emblem Heroes lets me do that since units don't suffer permadeath, but I would never want to do that in the main games. Still sucks since all the EXP goes to waste and literally put units out to die.

If ya don't want to read it, she can't be doubled by some of the fastest characters in the game like Marth, Tharja, Kagero, Olivia, and TAKUMI THE TERROR unless they themself also have +Speed or added speed from something like Rally Speed.

Eph has +Defense -Resistance which like Oboro, -Resistance sucks (it's only 17 ;_, but imo the +Defense outweighs the con so I'm fine with it. Tiki has +HP -Attack which hurts. Still gonna use her until I get a better red unit though since I have a situation similar to Ffamran except with red units, but other than absolutely demolishing Hector (who you barely see anyways since he isn't in focus), she doesn't offer much. Cecilia is the opposite of Eph with +Resistance -Defense which is whatever. Really want to replace her with Julia if I can get her, but that's 95% because her voice actor also voiced Edea from Bravely and Lyn from Xenoblade X.

Eh... Made a mistake; forgot Hinata has Fury. So, no, he's not in the top percentage of all Hinata. He's just average. Funny how the Hinata and Jagen I have both have Fury and are average units. Only 4* Bartre breaks this and he's above average.

Hey, at least there's hope for Xander when he's eventually released. Cue Zephiel coming first and we all end up with sword knights.

Sooo having never raised Marcia before (or looked at her growths), I was assuming from her stat gains that she was some sort of weird high strength high speed Pegasus.

Huh, just realized that I have no anti-armor blue units. Well, that's another reason why I have so much trouble against sword knights. Don't think it's a problem in arena since I think there's only 1 sword knight, Draug, but in singleplayer, yeah... a lot of sword knights at times. F!Corrin, Est, Nowi, Oboro, Odin, M!Robin, and Ursula would be really helpful right now. Also, Saizo with low HP means he gets one shotted by most mages. Great... I think Jakob is my only really usable offensive grey unit now. Gaius is either slow (Gaius #1) or just as weak to resistance (Gaius #2), Matthew does jack for damage, and Virion also has terrible resistance, but at least he can kill stuff. Maybe I should level up the special map Felicia, but her defense looks terrible and that's average defense to boot.

On another note, I learned that Superman 64 had multiplayer. It looks terrible.

Looked up Shanna since for whatever reason I keep confusing her with Catria from which game she came from and who's sister she is. I think it's the short blue hair. Anyway, she's Binding Blade's equivalent to Est as the youngest Pegasus Knight sister with Thea being the middle sister -- she's Catria -- and Juno being the eldest sister -- she's Palla. In terms of gameplay, she's more like Florina as the first Pegasus Knight you get in Binding Blade and less like Est who's the opposite -- Est is recruited late and at a low level like Nino in Blazing Sword.

It would be neat to have more Pegasus Knight sisters, but the problem is that they would pretty much all be lance units and obviously, fliers, by default which I wouldn't considering my lack of blue units. They can change them like they did to Caeda and Palla, but that might annoy some players who associate them with lances. Here's the weird thing, though, Juno is on official art shown holding a sword. Later depictions on the Cipher trading cards only show her using lances. The other Pegasus Knight (sisters) either have swords as sidearms or only use lances like Cordelia, Hinoka, Subaki, and Sumia. Juno's initial rank in swords is E, but she could have been justified as the sword-wielding Pegasus Knight instead of having Caeda and Palla inexplicably made into sword users which some might not care for Palla, but others do for Caeda. Eh, maybe it's time that in a future Fire Emblem, there are Pegasus Knights who favor using swords and maybe axes.

Also, Juno's married to Zelot, a cavalier. It would have been cute to have a married couple in Heroes. Is there even a married couple in Heroes? There are parents and single ones at that: Bartre and Eliwood -- I think his wife dies before Binding Blade. Marth is probably married sometime later, but they won't say to who, same for Chrom, and Hector is married, but I don't remember if they say anything about his wife being alive or dead in Binding Blade. If they're both dead, then man, I feel really sad for Liliana. Hawkeye has a kid, but they don't say anything about his wife or who the mother of Igrene is and Igrene herself is married to Astolfo, a thief, and has a daughter... who's dead. Future Nino, so, Nino in Binding Blade, also has kids, Lugh and Raigh. Anyway, maybe they'll bring in Pent and Louise and Juno and Zelot.

Question: Why is he not in the game? He looks badass. There are a lot of sword units, but they could just give him an axe. He's considered the better axe user compared to Ogier who has lower constitution, but is faster and luckier. Come on, just give him a Raven handwave. We need more MANLY men in Heroes.

Well, Frederick is doing better now. Attack and defense are working, but having low health still concerns me, especially since his good stat, resistance, isn't exactly helpful all things considered unlike Gunter who has low HP, but high attack or Selena who has low HP, but high defense. Regardless, he has a Hammer now and is a mobile anti-armor unit which Gunter already fulfilled, but still.

Shanna overtook Subaki in damage a couple of levels now and is only barely above him because Killer Lance has a might of 7 compared to a Heavy, Steel, and Sapphire Lance's 8. She's not as physically durable or as fast, but she's pretty much been the hope of my blue unit situation. Definitely going to promote her. Also, just realized that she's basically a flying Fir who I messed up on stat strengths/weaknesses. Forgot to account for her Speed+ skill; she has high defense and low speed. Great... a myrmidon who's slow.

Spoiler: Momentum and rarity

Speaking of promotions and ranks, I feel like 3* below thieves run out of steam much sooner compared to other units of equal and maybe lower ranking. 4* Jakob is doing fine, but 3* Gaius, Matthew, and Saizo feel like they hit the ceiling at around level 20 to 25 -- I stopped trying to level them up and all of them, except Matthew who's average, have issues that make me not want to promote them. At that point, they're usually doing so little damage that I would be better off bringing in Jakob, a healer, a non-grey unit, or Virion.

Healers don't really run out of steam, especially 4* and above units; 3* would definitely benefit from a promotion if the other units they're healing are around lv 30 and taking much more damage than they can usually heal -- Imbue can alleviate this, but that means giving up on a buff Special.

For the other units, 2* seem to lose steam around 15 to 20 -- Alfonse and F!Robin felt this way where at around 15, they are just terrible --, 3* around 25 to 30 -- a struggle with the lance units since I've never summoned a 4* on this file or the first file, but I have for re-rolls --, and 4* and 5* don't lose steam; they slowly drift into their max stats.

Part of me wants to summon just for the hell of it, but I might want to wait until there's news of the next focus to see if I want to try and take a shot at getting Ephraim again.

Then I went 0-2 in Top 8 bracket.

Well, Hinoka is a 5* and we all know where she is: Nowhere. Speaking of which, has anyone heard anything about Leo? Of the Fates siblings, I don't remember anything about him when people talk about Heroes. It's Takumi's a dirtbag this, Camilla onee-sama that, Ryoma rare badass this, Xander can't be used that, and go die Pineapple-kun this -- please don't actually die, Tokyo Ghoul needs you. Elise and Sakura I can understand not being talked about since they're healers and nothing really special as far as I know other being obligatory imouto. Hinoka's rare to the point of being considered not actually in the game and is apparently average while Leo... Where is Leo? O brother, where art thou? Edit: I should watch that film in its entirety one day.

All things considered, I don't even know why Hawkeye is a 5*. Yeah, he's kind of a plot-relevant character, but not really. Dude shows up, is connected to Athos, isn't really used 'cause he's a pre-promote, and is y'know... there. If he's here for 5* abs of fanservice, then sure. Was going to say ditto on Fir, but just noticed that she got upgraded to 5* for the time being.

So, I kind of wished that Hinoka was a 4* summonable unit like Camilla. She, Camilla, Elise, and Sakura don't have a legendary weapon or object attached to them like Leo, Ryoma, and Takumi. Even then, you could still have Leo be a 4* summonable unit since Ryoma and Xander are the heads of their family and marketed as badasses and Takumi is the most recent best archer in Fire Emblem after Shinon, so it could be justified that Takumi should be marked rarer. I don't know, maybe it's just because Leo's apparently a really nice guy as a character, so it would be cool to have Leo around.

Also, don't know how rarity is actually handled since Eliwood, the main character of Blazing Sword can be summoned as a 3* and 4*, but Lyn and Hector are 5*-only units. Really? The spotlight hero of Blazing Sword cannot be summoned at his full potential, but his friends can? I get that Lyn is popular and Hector is one of the strongest and most badass lords in Fire Emblem, but Eliwood's still the main character. Similar case with F!Corrin who can only be summoned as a 3* and 4* while M!Corrin can be summoned as a 4* and 5* and M!Robin who can only be summoned as a 3* and 4* while Chrom and Lucina can be summoned as a 5* and 4* in Chrom's case. Considering that Fir was upgraded, they might have planned for this where foci are upgrades for characters like Eliwood, F!Corrin, and M!Robin since they might not have enough time to put out new characters quickly.

Holy Din, 6 new units and 2 of them are blue mages that I will never get because this game hates me and savors my pain of having crap to deal with red units... Also, rip my idea of maybe summoning again to try and get Eirika, Ephraim, or Julia. Oh, and the first unit from the Tellius games is... Not Ike. Surprising since they continued the siblings theme and Ike has a sister, Mist, but they decided on Sanaki who is apparently Micaiah's younger sister. Anyway, now we have Clarine's big brother, Klein. So, if Clarine is Zelda, then who is Klein?

Other stuff: decided to train F!Robin and the 4* Gaius I summoned before because I ran out of stamina to train Shanna and the others and low level training goes by really fast. Problem: I don't have any other lv 1 units, so it's been this weird have Lissa tank stuff and somehow kill everyone with Gaius and Robin. It's working and one, 3* Robin is obviously performing much better than when she was a 2* and two, 4* Gaius is great, but his resistance really concerns me.

And lemme just say this... Oh my god, Top 8 was hype. Incredibly hype! Especially when Tsu took the stage, he was doing phenomenally.

As for my recent pull, I actually got two good units. 4 Star Robin with decent stats and 4 star Kagero - IDK about the stats though. I was planning on using Felicia because she is a very good dagger user and off-healer, albeit frail. But Kagero is also pretty absurd with her Poison Dagger.

I wasted so many feathers getting various now-benched characters to 4 stars that I probably won't get another 5* unit for a very long time. Especially because the appearance rate resets with every banner/update.

Whoops, forgot to screenshot it which doesn't really matter. The eighth summon was in order: 3* Cherche, 3* Lon'qu, 3* F!Corrin, 3* Eliwood, and 4* Subaki who I blame for making forget to screenshot the summon. Well, I don't really have to promote old Subaki, but I should check if new Subaki has better stat distribution like high attack. Ditto on Lon'qu.

Anyway, I find it amusing that in ranting about why F!Corrin and Eliwood can only be summoned as 4* below units, I end up with them. At least I have a ghetto mage and Eliwood is my first sword cavalry other than special map Stahl. Corrin is the most useful right now since other than being the only blue unit who uses magic, I have at this point, 3 Hammer users and they cover as cavalry, flying, and infantry and while Eliwood is all right, I didn't like that Yuri Lowenthal voiced him and he was summoned after Palla who while a flyer, was summoned as a 4*. I hope Ursula is released soon since it's going to be logically impossible for me to do the bring a Blue tome user for one of the quests.

It's the same for both, right? Kind of weird since they use either or instead of both. Maybe that's the point? I think both Robins have the same quote too. Speaking of which, F!Robin's special quotes are hilariously spoken really quickly.

Geez, I think I'm missing only 9 green units now. The recent update didn't introduce any, so I really do have half the greens. And now, the search for archers continue... The stupid thing is that unless you get Noire, hire a SpotPass unit, or reclass someone, Virion is your only archer in the entirety of Awakening. Please, game, I do not want this to continue.

Spoiler: The Eighth's Stats

Cherche: low attack and high resistance. Not helpful since she, like many Wyvern Riders except for Camilla, have low resistance to begin with and Cherche's main draw is that her attack is supposed to be stupidly insane. With it being high in the first place, she can probably get away with it unlike Lon'qu.

F!Corrin: low speed and high defense. Welp, she's going to be a tank and a blue Tiki. Hopefully she doesn't get doubled by everything known to man like Sophia.

Eliwood: low HP and high speed. Another low HP unit. Low HP has been screwing me lately with Frederick and Saizo who I might add have relatively high defense, so it's disheartening. The only units who were able to get away from this were 4* units like Gunter, Palla, and Selena and 3* Laslow. Then again, they have high defense to compensate or in Gunter's case, a high attack to go all in and Armored Blow to help. Eliwood doesn't have any of that, he's kind of a red Jagen.

Lon'qu: high HP and low defense. Between him and low attack and high resistance Lon'qu, I think I'd rather use this Lon'qu.

Subaki: high attack and low resistance. Great, the one Pegasus Knight with low resistance has it for a weakness. Well, at least you can kill stuff better unlike average attack Subaki.

When I first saw his full body portrait, he reminded me of Assassin's Creed's Niccolo Machiavelli. AC2 was closer to portraits of Machiavelli with the giant poncho thing that doesn't really look like Reinhardt's outfit, but AC2: Brotherhood's version looks a bit closer to Reinhardt who after looking at his old artwork and him closer, reminds me of Bloodborne and I guess, Victorian fashion.

Olwen reminds me of someone and I can't remember who. I don't think it's Casca since other than the hair, there's not much similar to them. Probably a really old anime or something. Anyway, either or would be nice since they would be a proper blue mage.

Holy Din, 6 new units and 2 of them are blue mages that I will never get because this game hates me and savors my pain of having crap to deal with red units... Also, rip my idea of maybe summoning again to try and get Eirika, Ephraim, or Julia. Oh, and the first unit from the Tellius games is... Not Ike. Surprising since they continued the siblings theme and Ike has a sister, Mist, but they decided on Sanaki who is apparently Micaiah's younger sister. Anyway, now we have Clarine's big brother, Klein. So, if Clarine is Zelda, then who is Klein?

Other stuff: decided to train F!Robin and the 4* Gaius I summoned before because I ran out of stamina to train Shanna and the others and low level training goes by really fast. Problem: I don't have any other lv 1 units, so it's been this weird have Lissa tank stuff and somehow kill everyone with Gaius and Robin. It's working and one, 3* Robin is obviously performing much better than when she was a 2* and two, 4* Gaius is great, but his resistance really concerns me.

Don't you think you should spoiler part of this? I know the game is like 10 years old now but that's a pretty huge plot point

Anyway I can't decide if I should continue saving orbs or try and get Sanaki. I doubt I could get her in 3 summons though. I'm also scared that they'll add more Tellius characters soon that I actually really want

I'm going to turn into one of those people who save orbs and never use them because the "next best thing" is around the corner

According to the March Quests, you need armored units. So I guess I'm saving up for the Effie focus event if they don't update the free unit list. I'll probably have...140 orbs by then?

AMAZING tournament, one of the best ever. Made G4 look like a local.
