I was wondering why the legendary "Fireball gimp" went down in that match. LOL.

I'm also used to 3 stock in friendlies but I adapted pretty quick. Cloud is dumb enough to make it work and make every game close winky face
I actually like playing 3 stocks in friendlies myself, but I just went with 2 stocks because that's the "standard" lol

Zelda's biggest flaw is that almost everything she has actively works against her. She has some of the outright worst mobility in the game (one of the slowest dash speeds, bad air speed) poor frame data, and her fastfall speed compounds by making her probably the easiest character in the game to kill due to her large height and light weight, making it very difficult to escape juggles in general. She has the problem among many characters of struggling to land, but she does have Phantom or Nayru's Love to somewhat help her in that regard.

Zelda's neutral is well... really bad. It's bottom 5 if I had somebody to ask. Her complete lack of burst mobility options (even though :4ganondorf: has worse range and is slower than her, he has dash attack, wizkick and flame choke to help all give him better options in neutral and reach the opponent better than Zelda can, and generally a higher damage output and reward on hit) means she has a hard time approaching, especially with her horrible air presence. Even though her damage output is threatening at first glance, the only real solid poke she has in neutral is Dtilt. Zelda is one of the most unsafe on shield characters in the game. Unless she lands a properly spaced bair or an fsmash on shield, she's going to suffer varying degrees of punishment for it. Some of her moves have wonky hitboxes. Usmash, forward air and back air all have hitboxes that don't match the animation, and Ftilt lacks a hitbox in front of her.

Unlike every other low tier, she actually struggles taking off stocks due to her lack of kill confirms or a safe, fast KO move. Her down throw can lead into up air at KO percents, but it can be easily DI'd. Let me put this in perspective for KO confirms for each low tier:
  • :4palutena:'s safe KO options are bair, uair and uthrow. Kill confirm? Dthrow to Uair.
  • :4duckhunt:'s safe KO options are utilt, and uair
  • :4ganondorf:'s safe KO options are bair and ftilt and dtilt (I don't really play Ganon so somebody please clear this up). Kill confirm? Sour dash attack into up air.
  • :4jigglypuff:
  • Meanwhile, :4zelda:'s fthrow and bthrow cannot kill until near 200% (dthrow doesn't kill until 652%) unless you got Rage or if your opponent has **** DI or if they have light weight. Down smash is unsafe on shield, and bair has a good amount of landing lag even if you SH it. Up smash, dash attack and forward smash are laggy as hell, and none of her tilts kill except up tilt until around 160-170%.
Remember when I talked about Zelda's tools and character build working against her? I forgot to talk about Din's Fire. The idea behind them is smart. A projectile that can be used for stage control, setting up combos and KOing at high percents. Them being able to be air dodged isn't a bad idea either, but good lord it was executed terribly. It is far too predictable for them to be hit. The main issue is that with frame data, the opponent doesn't have to commit at all and Zelda is punished severely for using her only theoretical option for making opponents approach her. Therefore she lacks any solid mixups to use against opponents, and Phantom's so laggy and the hitbox is so small that she can be punished by somebody jumping over her and hitting her even if she makes the right read.

Zelda has little to counteract very patient, defensive or lame play, ESPECIALLY if the opponent actually knows the matchup. Zelda definitely has an adVENturous (hurdur) number of high level results, 2nd at UBC weekly, 65th at G3, 5th at a Florida weekly, 1st in some place in Minnesota, 1st in a For Glory small tournament, but they can all for the most part be attributed to most people not having any damn idea how to fight this character. Zelda may be popular in lower levels of play, but at mid to high level she's a rare character to face in bracket especially if it's a dedicated main on the level of MaXy.

tl;dr Zelda is bad because of a near nonexistent approach and a poor neutral, movement options, frame data, safety on shield and projectile, along with being easy to lame out. Pretty much the only reason she gets any success in competitive play is because of large amounts of MU inexperience among top players. KuroganeHammer and many other people on these boards have had a scenario where their scene has a really good Zelda, they run into them for the first time and get messed up, then they learn the matchup and end up bopping them. It's true.

You know what? If someone is up to play now, I'll go for it. I'd like to get a feel for where I stand.

I used to play it a ton too with friends way back in 2007. Good times actually. Probably the best moment was when we did a quest and one of my friends died and everybody stole his stuff lol! We were all in the same room so watching/hearing him rage as everyone took his stuff was hilarious lol. I even remember the name one of my friends used: "swamprat99". Got no idea how he came up with it, but I thought it was pretty cool.
Wow this is great! I'd pay good money to get my hands on this. Would look nice next to my Mario plush.
Please watch my cringey middle school aged videos!

doesn't palu's dthrow>uair flat-out not work at kill percent if you DI away from her

ganon also has usmash/uair for safer kill moves, but pretty much everything he has will kill you eventually

and by "eventually" I generally mean "by the time Mario's usmash would"

And now japanese Twitter and pixiv are filled with this girl wtf Japan
Obviously Japan has finally come around and now understands what a good baseball team looks like.

also the silverwind guy pretty much lost any cool points he had as soon it was evident he was a brony tbh
Eh, anythings better then the Steven Universe tumblr brigade. Damn psychopaths, the lot of them.

Bronies may be bronies, but at least they seem to live by that whole "tolerance and compassion" thing they preach. Gotta at least respect them on that front.

Morning girls. How's everyone doing? :4zelda:
It's my birthday today, which I suppose is still something that matters.

Them being able to be reflected isn't a bad idea either, but good lord it was executed terribly. 2% is far too low of a threshold for them to be knocked back.
A friend of mine thought it would be fun to only kill DDD's with their own Gordos.

It worked so well he couldn't find any more DDDs.

Enough to be considered toxic and instantly lethal. That's the only way puddings like me live this long.
Toxic, and instantly lethal, huh?

I wonder if anyone's ever died from flame choke on the ledge because they DI'd away and ended up getting themselves spiked.

edit: nevermind, the numbers on KH don't remotely match up to in-game, it can't even spike you past the ledge at 999%

have this instead

I caught Y2Kay Y2Kay comment on stream about RayNoire. Lol
Whoah, whoah! BACK STORY TIME!

Me and Ray, have a . . . tricky relationship. He's has and still is probably the least favorite Mewtwo Main on the Mewtwo Boards.
He spends so much time trying to convince everyone that our main sucked, even though he played him too. It was bearable at the time, since there was a lot of Mewtwo main's like him. (It still sucks though)

Then the buffs happened. Everyone was excited about Mewtwo potentially being decent. Everyone except Ray, of course. He ended up acting like this grouchy old man, still believing that Mewtwo was awful. Abadango eventually stuck it to him by winning POUND. The he makes an Anti - Mewtwo guide just cuz he doesn't like bandwagoners. And now it's blowing in everyone's face. It's up to the opponent to figure out how to beat Mewtwo, I can't believe that jerk ratted us out for such a selfish and snobby reason!

But hey, it's all good now though. I don't hate him, and dont think he's a d bag or nothin'

honestly revealing your mains weaknesses to the public is a GOOD thing it means that you can't rely on on matchup inexperience which means that YOU have to get better at outplaying your opponent

AN ANTI - ZELDA GUIDE
by Y2Kay Y2Kay

I'm sick of all the Zelda Bandwagoners trying to play my character after realizing how bannable she was. So here is a guide to beat all the noob Zelda players:

STEP 1: Pick a good character

STEP 2: Profit

That's it folks. Good luck pummeling newby Zelda's :secretkpop:

it's only a good thing if you're incapable of researching the counterplay and developing counterplay to the counterplay yourself

any time you abuse a gimmick in any fighting game you should know what to do if the opponent can get around it ahead of time

My problem was with Ray's motive: to scare off new players coming post - POUND

Mewtwo himself is already a noob destroyer. Making just a few errors will lead to extremely early deaths. It takes some time and effort to get good with Mewtwo. It took me almost a month to start beating good people with him. Anybody that's willing to tough it out that initial grind, is worthy enough to main him in my book.

But to post an anti-mewtwo guide and do the hard work of developing counter play for them to scare off some "Newtwo's" is just lame and selfish.

I don't have anything against people developing counter play or anything. I know I just have to make counter - counter play too.

For perspective: Everyone knows the counterplay to Mario. Yet he still does well.

If people learn the counterplay to Mewtwo but the character still does well (he will) then, well, there's all your proof! Additionally I dislike the reason Ray did that too but at the very least this is a good litmus for Mewtwo.
