yeah, i didn't really know how to express that clearly

i meant it like consonant sounds being broken up by vowel sounds and vice versa

like two vowel sounds after each other are "bad" in french, which why liaisons exist (liaisons are when you use a silent letter at the end of a word to break up two vowel sounds in a row)

consonant sounds followed by consonant sounds aren't that big of a deal, but consonant sounds followed by vowel sounds (or vowel sounds followed by consonant sounds) are better

sorry, i tried to explain that, but i think i only made it more confusing

You are talking about diphthongs and consonant clusters.

and technically, you wouldn't pronounce the s at the end, even though it's plural

You're complaining about verbs ending in -aient but not est-ce que? Silent letters is silly but silent words is a new kind of dumb. Why is it just pronounced "es que" when there's the ce in the middle

Thankfully inversion exists but that always annoyed me.

And regarding misspellings you misspelled "mispellings" (though were it not for spell check being enabled I probably wouldn't have noticed it so no worries, lol).
...

I've been misspelling "misspelling" all my life and never noticed. I could've sworn there was only one "s" in the beginning.

This is so meta.

Why are you taking anything I'm saying at face value? Is it because you haven't visited my Twiiter page? Twiiter.gov.bmx

English is stupid

like you can pronounce "ough" like a billion different ways
ex: though, through, enough, drought, cough, hiccough (which is pronounced the same as hiccup), etc.

I'm glad English is my first language because there are so many intricacies and nonsensical rules that learning it well is difficult.
Also, it's the closest thing we have to a universal language, so knowing it is extremely useful.
Know how to pronounce "ghoti"?

I'm pretty sure that originally the "-gh" in the "-ough" was pronounced, but over time people got lazy and just pronounced it however they wanted. They same phenomenon with "knife" and "knee" the k used to be pronounced and not silent. There was also a different way to deal with silent e's which I don't remember.

Another reason for the different pronounciations is that English has a significant amount of words that come from different languages, (French, Latin, Greek, even Chinese), and the way the words are spelt are used to indicate where they originate from, which is why a 'c' is sometimes an 's" or a 'k'.

Imo, the hardest part of English is not all these nonsense rules, but that English tries to be too many languages at once. Originally ending sentences with prepositions was grammatically correct "Where are you going to" vs. "To where are you going." This change happened so that English could be more like French, which was the language of nobility, when English was still the language of the poor.
This man knows. English got... Frenchified, so to speak, during the Norman occupancy. Apparently "queen" used to be spelled "cwene" or something similar. But yeah, English borrows from so many languages that it gets silly. Sometimes the words borrowed are borrowed more than once but at different times. "Chief" and "chef" are two such words with "chief" being the older one and thus more Anglicized.

You're complaining about verbs ending in -aient but not est-ce que? Silent letters is silly but silent words is a new kind of dumb. Why is it just pronounced "es que" when there's the ce in the middle

Are you sure you're RIGHT about that COLONEL? (colonel has other problems)

...

I still get confused with some words ending in L when I add "-er," "-ed," or "-ing." Cancelling or canceling? Guess they're both right LOL. There is also some confusion between a few British and American spellings on occasion (not to mention definitions).

meanwhile in french there are just a billion silent letters slapped onto the end of everything
In old French, you pronounce all the letters. Also, in German, you can combine all sorts of words to form one giant word. :awesome:

(I basically played KH:CoM with a Portuguese script in another window and began comparing words and connecting the dots, that's where most of my English knowledge came from),

It was the first KH game I played because I saw my uncle playing it on a GBA emulator once and I thought it was interesting because it had Donald and Goofy in it so I decided to give it a shot myself.

I remember beating Sora's story but not Riku's.

I dunno why, but reading that made me remember when I actually got to play Pokemon Emerald. And it was on a bootleg GBA Cartridge, which had about 116 games on it. :V

Some of them were: Pokemon Emerald (Fan Translated, but it crashes when you try to go to Battle Frontier), Tiny Toons NES (It was renamed Pokemon Yellow with a badly drawn Pikachu in it), three Super Mario Bros bootlegs (One Zelda themed, another Sonic themed, another with just updated graphics), that weird gambling game with Bootleg Mario/Grand Dad on it, Challenger, Hydelide, Ghostbusters, Barbie and the Nutcracker, Elevator Action, and all of these other odd and bizarre games. :V

I got the bootleg from a game store in Gran Canaria back in the Summer of 2005, bought it for about 40 Euros I think, next day; shop got closed down. :secretkpop:

I dunno where the game is now, I've either thrown it away, or it's somewhere stored away.

I really wish the unowns did more in game. Younger me spent too much time trying to figure the mystery behind the ruins in second gen. Only for older me, to shake his head at their importance

I'd go on, but I'm sure you guys don't need stories from when i was like 8

The "ce" in the middle is why it's pronounced "ess" and not "eh"

The -st in est are silent (unless you're referring to the cardinal direction east, but that's a different story)

But yeah, the ce isn't silent in est-ce que. it does has a stupid amount of silent letters, tho

They usually aren't this bad. You just checked in when that guy's ego became so big it collapsed in its own gravity creating a black hole that pulls scrubby mass to it.

Hi Zelda Social users ♥
Hey there!

I've read your posts in the Rosalina Social and they're enjoyable to read. I also agree with you on stuff like Rosalina's voice and current portrayal too.

Also that's a great signature. Like damn, it's short, but also pretty deep you know?

Anyway, it's nice to see a new face so enjoy it here~

For what it's worth, I remember/recognize you from the old Wolf support thread and it's nice to see someone from there again.

I still remember when you put a :gawmelee: at the end of your posts, sometimes they were the blue and green icons too.

The colored :gawmelee: icons actually inspired a part of my signature so if nothing else, you were an inspiration for me so thanks for that.

Late and rather pointless at this moment in time, but welcome to the zelda social anyway.

I beat Boze's final mission in Xenoblade CX. I stake out a good place on the rock and try to draw the boss in with gunfire but the rest of my party thought jumping in the magma was a better idea  Bad AI makes that mission much harder. It's in a volcanic cavern btw.

I used to use black, but then I switched to green, since that's the color I use when I play as him. Then I got pranked, and switched to blue as a joke, though that ended up sticking. I stopped when my browser stopped copying images, since it was tedious uploading the image with my phone at the end of every post. Since 90% of my time on Smashboards is via mobile (I'm actually typing this with mobile)...

I might go back to ending them with :gawmelee: actually.

Despite it being late, thanks for the warm welcome.

Edit: Out of curiosity, I went to your profile to see your signature.

I don't think I've ever seen so much Zelda at once in my life.
