I beat chapter 10 in Xenoblade cx and want to go all Cinema Sins on the Wrothians. I'm skipping other story aspects and only focusing on this thread.

So the Wroth were coerced by the ganglian to sever them because the gang poisoned their food so they need gang medicine to survive (like dinos in the first Jurassic Park). The wroth attacked NLA and stole the tainted skell even though they're "proud warriors" and didn't want to hurt an innocent city.
Then during ch9 they ambush you and Elma says you can't beat them and surrenders. Then Elma talks them into betraying the gang but the wroth challenge you to fight to decide it. Then you beat them.
Then after ch10 the wroth defect and you can do the affinity mission to make an alliance with them. You fight what's her name again then have to get med packs to cure the wroth from the gang's poison. You can buy the med packs at NLA.

So finally after delivering a cursed weapon to the gang, attacking NLA (where the wroth could have either stolen the med packs or former an alliance with the humans from the beginning), then being proud enough to defy the gang even though they made the humans enemies and would die from the gang's poison, then "putting the people before pride" by asking the humans for med packs, the wroth join the humans. But only until the gang are defeated, then they might become enemies again.

Yeah. Does this story sound profoundly stupid to you?

PS please don't spoil anything beyond ch10 for me, yet.

just wait till you finish the game, if it didn't seem contrived before it hits a whole new level of bad writing

I really don't expect much story wise from a scifi settings anymore, but they could have at least tried
