You can level grind with spot pass, but that also means you'll have to get gold somehow to have weapons and stuff. There's also DLC which with the story related one is good from what people have said, so might as well grab the money and level grind DLC. The issue with Fire Emblem and its level system is that there are tons of characters and many people end up like most of the cast for various reasons including story, gameplay, and aesthetic.

I'm not sure that it'd really change my opinions on the series to play them though, RPGs like Etrian Odyssey, 7th Dragon, Valkyrie Profile, Labyrinth of Touhou, Mario RPGs, etc. are more my thing.

I think the only JRPG that I played that I thought was mediocre was one called Guardian's Crusade. Where you played as a Knight (Literally named Knight) who had to go and deliver a baby dragon (Literally named Baby) to its mother in a tower named God's Tower. It was alright, but you were limited to two party members (Could expand it to six but only by using Summons named Toys.)

Graphics didn't look that great, but the Boss Music was kinda catchy. And all of the monsters were very... child-like designs. You had living doors with mouths, giant ducks, and land whales, etc.

For FLSS, it depends on how many stages are legal, but the equation is:

No. of Strikes = (No. of stages - 1) / 2

So for 7 stage FLSS it would be 3 each, & for 13 FLSS it would be 6 each

The gameplay tropes are similar (the job system of III and the character-based classes of IV are explored again in V and Vi, respectively), but there's more polish on the ideas. The story, especially with VI, is far better. If it's the style of play that fails to hook you, well, neither will these (and based off your list I suspect that'll be the case) but I'd still say they're worth one play for the tale.

Bravely Default is another option as well; it treads similar job-system and turn-based notes, but it has far more tactical depth than blasting opponents with the biggest variant of the Super Effective Spell you're carrying. EO teambuilding would be the best comparison to the net effect.

Everything about this description so far makes me want to punch a developer.

Second opinion from research suggests there was a well-done translation and a fair bit of humor, and the toy mechanic seems somewhat intriguing. That's great. Still not liable to seek it out.

Zelda's buffed usmash is really nice, it's so strong and the fact that it lingers makes it really easy to punish things like bad airdodges/predictable ledge options with.

I'm still trash at this character though, I actually lost to a CPU because I died twice trying to sh fair before remembering what character I was playing

Also with the buffed landing lag on uair I think dthrow>nair>uair(>ff usmash/utilt>stuff) might be a legit string to cover airdodges before the uair, didn't count frames or mess with it heavily but it seemed like it could be real.

Still a flawed character though so yeah, buffs help at least.
