Wait, does he have something to do with this game?
Well yeah.

He's the director.

Just like he directed most of the non Prime Metroid games including Super, Zero Mission and Fusion.

Alright. I wonder if Samus will talk about Babies nonstop in this one too.
Samus doesn't look like she's talking much at all.

That said, remember, don't hold grudges.

Alright, I'll try not to. I'm just a bit weary because I literally hated almost every story choice Other M went through (Anthony is the exception (And also possibly our salvation). I'm fine with him overseeing gameplay and whatnot though.

Yeah. Let's not hold a grudge when something this amazing is here.
I haven't gone that far, it's just that I'm saying that it's not hard to imagine things spiraling out of control when developers don't keep themselves in check, much like a certain team at Sega. I'm not saying Sakamoto will make many of the same mistakes again, just that I keep that possibility in mind but still hope for the best.

Considering that this is based directly on Metroid II, I doubt there will be any talking at all. It's just her against the dangerous denizens of SR 388, no time for talking when everything's trying to kill you.

Well its Metroid II.

Story is already fine.

I'd like to think Sakamoto and Tanabe each respectively got the message after their experiments with the Metroid series, but I guess we'll see.

Besides it's been nearly 7 years since Other M.

7. Years.

Don't you think in such a long time Sakamoto took his time to re-examine himself and to consider the mistakes he made?

Something I've been thinking about for Samus Returns:

In the footage we've seen so far, some of her beams have been stacked together (Spazer, Wave etc.), but the Ice Beam has its own dedicated slot. The impression I'm getting is that it's specifically for battling the Metroids (even though they can be damaged by other means). Seems like an odd way to do things if you ask me.

Of course, the game is still in development, so everything might not be in its final state.

Perhaps you have to switch between normal and ice beams depending on the enemy.

Even then that's kind of strange.

Regarding the new team which is developing Metroid Prime 4, do you think it is Japanese or Western?

Impossible to say for sure at this point...but I think a Western based team is a lot more likely due to Metroid's Western popularity and bringing in a team with employees that have experience in games catered to western audiences seems like the ideal thing for Nintendo to do....especially for Prime 4...

A Western developer is working on MSR afterall...

Strictly speaking, that's not unfamiliar territory for Metroid as you could switch beams on the fly in the Prime series. Just as there were doors that could only be opened with certain beams, the same applies to certain enemies. I want to think that was the inspiration behind the current setup in Samus Returns, but why separate it into a stacked Beam and a single Beam? That's the strange part to me.

So, what will the plot of Metroid Prime 4 be?
I guess one of the Hunters still has unfinished business with Samus, so that might kick-start things. After that, I'm not sure what might happen.

Tanabe has alluded to a rivalry between Samus and Sylux...and going off of the ending of Federation Force, Sylux most likely will have some sort of plan to use the baby Metroid against the Galactic Federation in some way...

There's potential for some serious stuff going on in the next game...Perhaps cloning to make an army of metroids and literally wage war against the Galactic Federation, perhaps the bulk of the game's story is Samus trying to hunt down Sylux to prevent such a thing from happening...I can imagine Samus investigating abandoned space vessels or GFed outposts or something where Sylux had used Metroids to attack the Federation...similar to the GFS Valhalla or even the GFS Tyr in Echoes...

I've heard some speak about the possibility of Sylux using the Metroid to resurrect or recreate Metroid Prime...I'm not entirely sure how it could do that since Metroid Prime was a product of Phazon mutation and Phazon has been wiped out...

I've also had this idea that Sylux may take command of the Space Pirates, after Prime 3 with the "death" of Ridley and Dark Samus the Space Pirates were left without higher authority (later on the Fed Force defeated Master Brain as well) and since both Sylux and the Space Pirates have beef with the Federation, I wouldn't rule that out as a possibility...

As I plan to get the Limited Edition of Samus Returns, is there someone interested to get a free download code for getting the original Metroid II on the 3DS Virtual Console, since I already bought it?

Interesting theory...
Definitely sounds feasible based on the information from the video...imagine if Prime 4 touched upon Samus's past (properly) and this turned out to be true...could make for an interesting rivalry between Samus and Sylux going forward...I'm definitely interested to see how this is going to be handled in Prime 4 (and perhaps beyond depending on how far the devs will take this)...

If there's one good thing about announcing Metroid Prime 4...theories and speculation are going to be prevalent until the game releases...

I think the Chozo artifacts and some of the other objects that appear through the franchise, probably some of that is inspired by the Egyptian cultures as other ancient civilizations. It’s really just a great creative development, incorporating different civilizations and what this whole Chozo race would have been like, both culturally and aesthetically.
And so we can assume the Chozo's design is inspired by the egyptian god Horus.

Neat, as I love the egyptian mythology.

Not really, cause the ice beams in other Metroid games also wheren't primarily used to kill off enemies. Just freeze them. A regular beam might be prefered for enemies you don't want to freeze, but just kill?

You won't see the Morph Ball the same way as before.
The last time someone tried to copy the Morph Ball, it ended with a whole bunch of broken bodies. Can't imagine this being any better.

On a more serious note, we've partially seen the inside of the Morph Ball already, where Samus seems to transform into a non-corporeal mass of energy. Well, that's what it looks like to me anyway.

The same can really be said for any game that isn't Super Metroid or Prime...

Nintendo has given us the opportunity to show that we want more Metroid.

If this games bombs and it isn't magically terrible.

It's on us.

True, which is why I am buying two copies of Samus Returns. One for me and the other for my older brother.

With MSR on the horizon and my old 3DS looking pretty beat up, I decided it was high time for an upgrade to the N3DS (Galaxy Style to boot. Woo!) just so I'm ready to roll without any button or control issues bogging me down upon my return to SR 388.

Gravity Suit is one of the best suit designs. The Purple, yellow, and red look so great together. That design looks super edgy, but not a bad thin because of how the story goes with Prime 3.

The discussion vid at PAX mentioned how the suit kinda gives off the vibe that its design is meant to be reminiscent of wings, IIRC. Found that tidbit interesting considering the Chozo were seemingly flightless birds.

Now I'm just curious if the Fusion Suit version will get the same updated treatment.
