here's one example; perhaps the first instance of it being called that? I'm sure there are more though. There's actually a discussion on that thread about whether that's the right phrase, so kind of iffy, but it has been used before. That being said, you kind of have a point.

Let's call this one a draw.

My DK upb swum through a Link Fsmash one time against aa which was quite lol. I'm sure if you attempted enough you could do the same with a Kirby utilt.

I think Near and I discovered that DK's up-b cancels with Jigglypuff's sing. That was like, 500 years ago.

That's the first time I've heard Samus' Up B invincibility frames being called a parry before. I always thought parry was yoshi specific in 64.
it used to be yoshi specific until i coined the term "Samus Parry" which is pretty much using the first few frames at the beginning of samus' upB, which have invincibility, to escape combos and hits that would otherwise kill u for sure, such as DKs giant punch, samus' charge shot, etc.

follow the link in the following quote to see the discussion.

i beleive the DK and Samus one should just be called invincibilty trap or something similar.

I mean, Yoshi's armour does not have invincibilty, it is just different

I think ballin and koro were referring to the parry? (not the jump armor)

The parry has green invincibility like the DK and Samus moves, but it is still different since it's not an attack. It doesn't commit itself to anything. Also, it's strictly a trap rather than an escape.

But will Darth Rancorous's efforts have ultimately changed the definition of parry through sheer popularity? Join us next time for our exciting conclusion to this episode And remember, "You can parry grabs, but you can't grab parries!"
