This is Matt, Hiemie, and Mrs. Bahamut approved. I was actually going to do this for a class, but didn't get the approval until it was too late. Use this format with the questions in it and answer only the questions that apply to you when stated. Go indepth if you can. Some questions may sound religious, but that's because it was for a World's Religions class. I'm not here to start arguements; I just want to see what everyone thinks, so please, don't start arguing with others because of beliefs. This is where it begins:

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

2) How do you know anything to be true?

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

4) What happens if you die?

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

13) What do you think of abortion?

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

16) What do you think of politics?

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

18) Are you a vegetarian?

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?

There are some questions that I added. Remember, try to keep the topic clean by not arguing about other people's answers.

Whoa, Matt and Hiemie actually did something with their mod powers?

Weird.

So, I started to fill out your survey, because I thought I could just zoom right through it. It'll take me a bit longer than I thought. :( I'll try to complete it tomorrow.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

19 / female / European; born in Luxembourg

2) How do you know anything to be true?

If I understood your question right: I live, that's what matters to me the most. I cannot say if anything is true or not, but it doesn't really matter, does it?

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

I believe in certain entities that might have its hand in our lives, anyway, at least I think just the fact that something like a god might exist is pretty interesting. Currently, I'm not very stable in my beliefs.

4) What happens if you die?

For me, I think there IS some sort of reincarnation. When I die, another perception (not my memories) would be reborn and merge with an other human body. There would be no traces of a previous life, but it would be a very similar perception to what I felt in my previous life. It's hard to explain, but it's like this I feel.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

We bulid our own purpose in life. It's somehow like the question "do you believe in fate/destiny or is all just coincidence?" Well, there's neither of it. We do what we want to do, we aren't forced to do what we do most of the time, so yeah, we all have a purpose in life, some of us need just more time to find it.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

It's all very subjective, so it's difficult to answer that one. But if I had to say something about that matter: I believe that doing something bad on purpose it's playing with fire (not referring to hell, but that might be a good metaphore nonetheless). Today, one's actions are hard to judge because we either do it because we're convinced or we do it because of various other reasons, and that relates to doing good things as well as doing bad things either to yourself or to others. So it's hard to make the difference between the two. But all I know is (and this comes from a movie): We all have the chance to do something right in the end even if that what we did before is despicable. So everyone can change sides.
I did rant about that subject now, but what my personal standards are, I really can't say.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

That's the thing I stated earlier: Nobody knows because it's only subjective and what may be right to someone might be wrong to someone else. So I don't know if my standards are true and just, but I know that I can be biased one time or an other.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

I respect other beliefs fervently since there's absolutely no reason as to why others could be wrong. We don't know if they're right either, but the gist of it is: Because we don't know it, we can't judge them, easy as that.

13) What do you think of abortion?

If it's dangerous for both mother and child, it's hard to say yes or no. But if it was strictly about "I don't want a child", then screw it, then I'm against it. Otherwise, I'd pass a weak "yes" just to answer the question.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

We can love who we want and I think homophobes or church shouldn't even have a say in that matter. I'm strictly for it because homosexuals have the same rights than we do, and if they want to marry, than let them be.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

Quite simply, it is a big issue, or at least it's made a big issue what might have been only a small one. I'm not familiar with the several laws, but I think everyone should be given a chance to live in a country, we can't just throw someone out because he hasn't found a job till then and then.

16) What do you think of politics?

I honestly don't care, but I know something wrong is going on in that field. And if a whole country depends on the actions on one silly president (yeah, you know who I mean) it's difficult not to say something, but I'm not that good informed to be a serious debater on that issue. But I would be in a big worry if something similar to Hitler should happen, nobody wants that (or at least, all the smart people don't want that).

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

Cloning as in development of new technologies that actually serve a purpose could help, but if it's for military purposes, I digress (is that the right word?). I think we shouldn't let the latter happen.

18) Are you a vegetarian?

Nope, I just don't like meat, that's only IMHO.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?

I don't think much as I don't have spent much thoughts on that till now. But what I can say is that it's neither right nor wrong to eat meat. Everyone is entitled to his own tastes, so I couldn't care less if my friend was vegetarian, she's my friend, and if someone else who's also a vegetarian would start a fight because I eat meat, than I also couldn't care less, since I have the right to eat what I want.

There, I hope this could help you, I'm not good with words. ^^;

Don't you think that a lot of those questions are difficult to answer, and many will take a lot of writing to really express how a person feels?

And wow only 2 replies until Hitler was mentioned. Truly the king of internet.

Well, I did the forum a favor then, did I? ^^; It's hard NOT mentioning Hitler when it comes to politics, it's also difficult not mentioning Bush, you know? So I'm happy that we don't live under that kind of regime right now, that's what I wanted to say ;) But you already knew that, right?

I know stuff is true because it can (most of the time) be scientifically proven and backed up, and/or it comes from a reliable source. e.g. Dojo website

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
None at all. I'm an atheist.

-

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
Yeah there's a purpose in life. To answer weird surveys such as this.
No but seriously, imo, the purpose of living or life in general is to just have fun, use the opportunities given to you, and live life to it's fullest, because there's only really one chance at this life.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
well, i believe anything that causes unnecessary harm or pain is 'wrong'. And everything else is alright

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
I know my standards are true and just because i believe they are.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?

Well..i think religion in itself is a load of bull****, but other people can believe whatever the hell they want to. Also, define "other beliefs". It could mean anything.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I think that if you don't think you could cope with the stress of a baby, then sure go ahead and abort it. But just remember that it's a living soul who deserves a life. Personally if i was a female and pregnant, i wouldn't abort a child.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

You have no place trying to lecture me about comedy when you've soiled your location with a low class internet meme. Take a course on comedy improv or comic theory and get back to me.
Moreover, I was being one hundred percent seriousness, and I don't appreciate you calling me a liar.

That's a curiously harsh sentence, Amorasaki. Maybe you should try contributing to the thread's purpose by taking the survey like the rest of us.

Seeing as Josh has basically ruined the thread, I'll try and give it a kick start.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
18, Male, White. I live in England.

2) How do you know anything to be true?
"I think therefore I am" - Cargeto ergo sum. Basically, this sentence just makes a heck of a lot of sense to me. And that's why I think anything, and everything, is true.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

No, I do not.

4) What happens if you die?

Nothing. At all. It can't be like a long dream, as your brain can't produce images, sounds etc.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
See #3

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
See #3

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
Not really, no. The only reason I could possibly think of is to make the earth a better place for future generations.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Anything which hurts another person, in any way, is wrong.
Anything which causes joy, without causing pain, is right.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
I don't. But for me, they are. And that's enough.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
See #3

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
I don't believe in either.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
I think that people's beliefs are the cause of suffering in this world. They are the cause of wars, and the cause of hardships in people's lives.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I would not think any less of someone who had an abortion, IF they cannot a life with a baby.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
I approve of it. I don't understand why it should be fine. The only reason that it's taboo is because of the media, which is basically saying that girls are "Hot" and that being gay is "Wrong". But maybe I'm just biased.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
As long as immigrants learn the language, and do not want the country to
change for them, then I think it's perfectly fine.

16) What do you think of politics?
Personally, I'm not all that bothered about it. As long as the country doesn't get ruined to the extent that it's uninhabitable, I'm okay.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
That depends entirely on what you clone. If you cloned food, you could solve the world's hunger problems. If you cloned humans, you'd end up with a huge mess on your hands. Although it would be cool having another you to hang around with, as, at the end of the day, the only person who truly gets you, is you.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
I used to be.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
I'm happy to eat meat. However, I'd be unhappy to eat animals that have lived through horrible conditions in their lives, as that means it's okay, on some level, for the farmers to continue in that way.

Hope I helped =P

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
19, Male, New Jersey in the US

2) How do you know anything to be true?
I don't, really. I just act is if what I see is true because there aren't any other good options.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
None.

4) What happens if you die?
I go into the ground and rot.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
Doesn't apply.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
Doesn't apply.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
I don't believe there's any purpose except that which you create for yourself.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Generally, if it hurts somebody else physically it is wrong, unless that other person has agreed to it beforehand. If it helps people, it's right. These kind of standards are hard to measure, but that's the best I can do.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
I don't. They're my standards, and I believe they're right, but I don't know. I can't, really.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
Doesn't apply.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
Doesn't apply.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
Mostly, they don't bother me, except when they get in the way of understanding our universe. Then they do bother me, but I still recognize people's rights to have them.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I'm just fine with it, as long as the fetus hasn't exhibited any brain activity. So, any abortion in the first trimester would be just dandy, in my books.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
Yes please. Well, not quite. I don't believe that the government should be involved in marriages at all; I think everyone should have civil unions. However, I definitely believe that gays should have the same legal rights as straight people, so in lieu of civil unions for everybody, I definitely support gay marriage.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
For me, it's a middle issue. It's not as important as poverty, the environment, or protecting people's rights, but it's definitely not something that can safely be ignored.

16) What do you think of politics?
There's a lot of falseness and deception in politics, and I don't much like most politicians, but I still think the political process is important enough that people ought to pay attention to it. I don't like it, but it's simply too important to ignore.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
Yeah, pretty much. As long as you don't take somebody's genes and use them without their consent, I have no problem with any type of cloning, really.

Well, I also don't support making horrible chimera-like creatures, but we're not at the point where we have to worry about stuff like that yet.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
No, sir. I think it's an admirable position to take, but it just seems like too much trouble to me.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
Well, I think we eat too much of it, and much of the meat that we get isn't very healthy because of the way it's processed. I don't think there's anything morally wrong with it, though.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
18, no thanks, White, Oklahoma

2) How do you know anything to be true?
Honestly I don't. I'm a very confused person.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
I'm not sure. I want to believe there's a God.

4) What happens if you die?
I have no clue.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
I don't know.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
In my personal belief, if there is a God, believing in him is enough.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
I don't know. I have trouble believing in fate. The world's a cruel place.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Basically harming or killing others is the thing that I find wrong. There are other things that I don't necessarily agree with, but killing I can't and won't ever think is right in any situation.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
I don't. I've just always had them.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
I don't know.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
If they exist by Christian definition, I'm honestly not sure. My morals are actually close to that of a Christian (I was raised as one.)

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
I try to keep an open mind on most issues, but there are some I just can't see the other side on. (like people thinking that gay marriage should be banned, I can't see a good reason why it should be.)

13) What do you think of abortion?
It's murder, but I really think there are some special cases where it doesn't bother me as much. If a couple agrees to have sex and the woman gets pregnant, and wants an abortion, that I'm against.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
There's nothing wrong with it.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
This is one issue I don't really know much about. I can't really say.

16) What do you think of politics?
I stay out of it. Sometimes unintentionally, like right now I have no idea what I want the next president to be.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
It's another issue I'm neutral about. Again I don't know much about it, and I really can't have an educated view over it.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
Nah, but those that are I don't see any problem with.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
I guess it's okay.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
- 17, male, white-skinned (caucasian.. I suppose?) and I live in a city called Lohja in Finland.

2) How do you know anything to be true?
- From a theoretical and philosophical point of view, I can't. But because this world we live in is far from just theory, I've yet to encounter a good reason why I shouldn't believe everything I gather empirically.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
- Yes.

4) What happens if you die?
- This is something I cannot be sure of, but I believe that God shall either accept me to heaven or send me to hell.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
- Just one, Jesus, as he states himself in the Bible.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
- Sola fide as Luther put it, by faith alone. And yes, the God with a capital G, alas, according to my views, the only true God.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
- Definitely not an easy question, but to put it short, spread the love that God gives us, and finally, go to Heaven where we belong.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
- Well, the Bible, the law (and the law is very much affected by Christian standards), and finally, my own reasoning.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
- I don't, I'm trying to be open to other views aswell. No human can be absolutely correct in his standards, so we all just have to make the best decisions we can.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
- Yes. My belief is that if one does not follow Jesus (whatever that might mean!), he will perish.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
- No idea, hoping for the former one.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
- Can't really sum it up nicely, so I'll skip this one.

13) What do you think of abortion?
- A tricky one aswell, I'd say it's more of a grey matter than just white or black, good or wrong. I'd say it's too situational to be condemned with a simple yes or no.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
- No. Homosexuality is all but natural in my opinion. The Bible states that God created humans as a man and a woman. Not a man and a man. I also think that homosexuality is something caused by the environment, and can be rid. Every child should have the right to have a mother and a father.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
- It's not really that much of an issue here in Finland, and I haven't got much views on it.

16) What do you think of politics?
- Ugh, I dislike the comprehensiveness of the questions. Well, it's something that is essential to our society, but there's also a lot of shady stuff going on.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
- I'd say no, the whole concept seems unnatural and creepy to me. Especially a no on human cloning, I believe that the life of a human is holy, and each person is and should remain as a unique creation.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
- Nope, and I have no interest to become one either.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
- Sincerely? Not much, mostly the taste and how much fat it includes. More fat = more taste usually. (70kg/191cm by the way)

What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

17, male, white, New York State.

2) How do you know anything to be true?

I don't. Everything beyond a statement like "2 + 2 = 4" is a shade of gray. And even 2 + 2 = 4 is incorrect in some number systems. I guess I assign probabilities to facts. I can't even trust my own eyes, because I don't always know what's going on under the surface.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

Hmmm... A weak yes, but only because it's what I've always believed. I'm still searching for justification or refutation for this.

4) What happens if you die?

I hope to never die, because technology will get so good in the next few decades that we will be able to live forever. But, if I died right now, I guess I would go to Hell, if God exists, or I would just rot in the ground, if He doesn't. Again, I'm not sure.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

If God exists, I believe there is only one path to salvation. It is described in the Bible, and only a religion that makes a big deal out of following the Bible closely and having a Biblical justification for everything is a correct religion. There is only one religion like that, by the way: the Church of Christ.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

Again, I'm not sure I believe in God, but if He exists, you would have to be baptized in the name of the Son, the Father, blah blah and accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior. And obey everything in the Bible (the Bible with the New Testament and no Apocrypha).

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

If God doesn't exist, then how could there be a purpose to life? You and everyone around you is just the result of random molecules coming together in a specific way. Of course, you can make your own purpose, such as to "be a good person", but there would be no fundamental, underlying purpose for living. You're just floating around on the laws of physics, and with no free will, how is there any purpose? I'm not saying this is a reason for believing in God--I'm just saying that a person who doesn't believe in God must make their own purpose, which I think is not as "pure" as being handed one.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

Generally, if something hurts other people, it's wrong. If it doesn't, then it's right (I think "okay" is a better word than "right"). There is of course a lot of gray area. When it's not obvious, you must look at other aspects of the situation, and it can get pretty in-depth. This is where my general reasoning come in.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

I don't know, because I don't know all the facts. I will always be looking for ways to improve my "standards". Sorry for the vague answer.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?

If God exists, then so does Hell. Disobeying God (what he says in the Bible) sends you to Hell.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?

If Hell exists, then right now, I would go to Hell. I know the difference between right and wrong, but I haven't been baptized because I can't be baptized if I don't truly believe God exists and Jesus is His Son.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

I will tolerate any belief, even beliefs like those held by the Ku Klux Klan, because I think everyone has a basic right to think whatever they want. However, I will not be respectful every belief. A person must be able to justify their beliefs, or at least have acceptable answers to any reason I can come up with regarding how their belief is wrong. In other words, it really annoys me when people believe in something just because they want to.

13) What do you think of abortion?

I'm still developing an opinion on this one. Right now, I'd say that there are certain situations where abortion is okay, so I think the best thing to do is to allow the mother to decide, and not impose my rules on another person, because it's a very subjective thing. I believe that, if God exists and fetuses have souls, then aborted fetuses will go to Heaven. That fact takes away most of the reason for not allowing women to have abortions. I think religion is sticking its nose in the government here.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

I think the marriage we're talking about, where you have to have a judge sign the papers and get tax breaks and whatever, is a governmental thing, not a religious thing. Gays should definitely be allowed to marry. However, I don't think gay people can get married in a Christian, religious sense. So, I believe that gay marriage should be legalized, but I don't expect various religions to give it its blessing. I think this is another place where religion is sticking its nose in the government.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

Well, yeah, it's a major issue. My opinion on immigration is that it should be much easier to immigrate to the United States, or to most other countries, for that matter. However, I don't think that just anyone should be able to walk across the border and become a citizen. This is because living in proximity to the United States shouldn't make a difference. The US has a greater responsibility to the people in Africa, for example, than to the people in Mexico. I'm not really big on this issue, so I don't have a very complete opinion.

16) What do you think of politics?

I'm not sure if this is asking what I think of politics in general, or what I think of current politics. I'll just use a blanket statement: politics, and even government, is not getting things done the way it's supposed to, even here in the United States, where we tout our so-called perfect democracy.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

Yes. It's not like you're trying to act like God. I mean, would you say that having sex without a condom is acting like God, because you're trying to make a baby? This is another area where I think many people are unreasonable in their opinions./COLOR]

18) Are you a vegetarian?

No.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?

I think that it's usually quite yummy. There's nothing wrong with killing animals for food. They kill each other all the time, you know.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

White Male, 18 this month, Georgia (USA)

2) How do you know anything to be true?

I know something is true through validity of source. If it is statement of fact, what is the evidence? If it is philosophical, what is your reasoning? How did you come to this conclusion? By knowing how something came to be, I can know if it is true.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

I’m agnostic. I was raised and confirmed by the Catholic Church, only to stop practicing. I took philosophy and ethics, as well as a comparative religions course, and I am currently agnostic. Whether there is a God seems to not matter when looking at the state of our world.

4) What happens if you die?

I don’t know, and that only bothers me when I go to bed.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

See question number six.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

I view religion simply as another choice in attempts to explain what we don’t know. You can accept a religious explanation, you can accept a scientific explanation, or you can accept that both explanations have made their impact on our world and view them simply as choices. Forbid the morbid, I have plenty of time on this earth to make these decisions.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

The purpose of life is to enjoy. Pursue what you enjoy! If you crave knowledge, then love it! Surround yourself with those who appreciate it, and pursue it. If you love the things you do, then do them. Play smash. Skateboard. Ski. If you love others, then be social. Life is what you make of it.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

You take your cultural standards of right and wrong, and mix them with the obvious. Then you take a step back and say, “is all of this acceptable?”

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

Evaluation. You must view anything from many points of view. What’s most important is to know why someone disagrees with you.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

You must be accepting of others views, yet not afraid to challenge them. You must be steadfast in your own views, yet not afraid to challenge them yourself.

13) What do you think of abortion?

I stand by the decision made in Roe v. Wade. Laws that make abortion illegal are violations to our rights of privacy, and until the fetus is a viable living organism, it is not murder to destroy it.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

Nothing is wrong with it.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

Yes!

16) What do you think of politics?

I think it is very important to stay politically active. “Apathy is…”

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

Anything that produces medical advancement is okay, as long as proper guidelines are enforced.

18) Are you a vegetarian?

Nope.

My opinions

Interesting... I'll do it :)
All opinions are of my own; I am not listing anything as an absolute.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
15, M, White, FL @ USA

2) How do you know anything to be true?
Not at all. Knowledge, speculation, and imagination is infinite, and judging by the way we act as a culture and species by general standards, we could have a lot more to reach for if we united as one. Separating ourselves in terms of what is believed rather then what is truth is open and OK, and I believe what is universally known and accepted as such is OK also, but until we can find a common ground for what isn't known (or can't be known), we can never truly find the truth to half of everything in the world, let alone 100% of the world.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
I am Agnostic at the moment. I was brought up Christian, but I think the theories and facts behind scientific discussion lead me toward the second of the two more: Science/Atheism.

4) What happens if you die?
Reincarnation is a hopeful, but rotting and just generally being dead are probably more sensible.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
N/A, but I would assume spending your time wisely in this world and generally being a good human being would be better then the opposite.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
See 5)

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
Reproduction. Keep the human race flowing, natural selection, evolving, all that good stuff that keeps a species thriving for a good long time. Enjoying your life doesn't hurt either :)

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Lets start with the wrong. In my opinion, Wrong is anything that can cause physical/mental damage, discomfort, pain, loss, trauma, and/or unfairness (all on different levels of grade). On the opposite end, Right is opposing something that your see as Wrong with the best of your abilities (or anyone else's abilities for that matter) to see that the wrongdoing is undone. Of course there are gray areas (stealing, fighting, etc.), but I think these can be done on either side of the moral coin depending on the situation and those involved.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
You can usually feel it, as dumb as that may seem. Until you know all the facts and have truly thought about and identified your standards, there is no real answer other then just knowing depending on the conflict.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
N/A, but I think if there is a hell, excessive wrongness throughout your living would really influence the decision.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
N/A. That's it, I haven't lived my life out enough, and I think that can apply to everyone else as well until an old and mature enough age.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
I think anyone and everyone can believe what they want, so long as they don't disrespect other peoples' views and show them the same respect as their own.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I'm against it. Every life is worth living, regardless of religion, beliefs, dreams, etc; even if it means expense on the parents or the related.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
I'm for it. As said above, every life is worth living regardless of the above. Including sexual orientation. I think marriage is about commitment and pleasure, not race, color, religion, age, ancestry, physicality, OR gender. Just don't...
A) Shove the fact that you're gay in everyone's faces. Public display of affection is fine, just don't ***** it out.
B) Don't be public about hating it. They're happy, it isn't your problem.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
I'm neutral here. Don't support it, but I'm not against it.

16) What do you think of politics?
In terms of a/our civil government, I think it has been a joke for the past decade or so. However, I am entitled to say that because, without 'politics', I wouldn't have the right of free speech. So long as I am not directly threatening the government, I think I'm good.
Politics, in terms of a group interaction to make decisions for their followers? I'm for it.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
This is a weird one. On one hand, it would be possible to create organisms that have died out, as well as to boost a declining population's numbers, balance out other populations, and have more ability to the world. On the other hand, populations could become imbalanced, as there would be more mouths to feed. Maybe some species were meant to become extinct or thrive; natural selection says hi. What if you saw an exact replica of yourself. I think it would be cool for about three seconds, then start bugging out from worry of soooo much it would fill this post up... I suppose I'm against it, but I'm for it as well so long as it could be controlled and thought out carefully.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
I used to be.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
So long as an animal is treated throughout its life and eventually harvested in a humane and ethical way without chemicals being inserted in the animal, regardless of it being living or dead, eating meat is fine.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
19, male, Indian (south asian), CT, USA

2) How do you know anything to be true?
I don't, except for what my senses tell me and how I interpret everything I know.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
Yes, in a god... more on some days than others.

4) What happens if you die?
Hopefully the people who were good get rewarded, the people who were bad get punished.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
Quite a few; I don't think you don't need to worry about following one specific path.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
By being a good person, I think.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
"Right" and "wrong" are very subjective. Some things, however, are decided by civilization and society as a whole. When we, as humans, choose to live in organized societies and civilizations, we need to have certain rules to govern how we live. People who violate those rules are generally in the "wrong".
As for me, personally, I think that "wrong" is when you do something for selfish reasons that adversely affects someone else. "Right" is when you do something, selfish or not, that either benefits someone or has no effect on someone.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
Beyond the most basic things, I have no idea whether my standards are true and just. For example, if I do something to help or protect a family member or a close friend, that is "right" and "just". But after that, I just have to hope that I'm making the right choices based on my judgment.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
Being a "bad" person, whatever that means. Acting selfishly and without regard for others and yourself.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
Heaven hopefully, because I believe I am a good person.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
Any other beliefs are fine with me, even if I don't agree with them, as long as those beliefs do not infringe upon others with different beliefs, or as long as they're not just plain ridiculous, like scientology.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I support the woman's choice in most cases; I think when the baby starts approaching viable term (ie, it can live outside the uterus), abortion should be discouraged.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
I may not agree with homosexuality, but gay marriage doesn't affect me whatsoever. It's not my place to stop others from living life the way they would like to live.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
Yes and no. Immigration is an excellent thing; it lets people have a shot at opportunities for a much better life. I would not be here had my parents not immigrated here decades ago. That said, illegal immigration is wrong and something must be done about it. Illegal immigrants should be deported immediately. Why should illegals sneak into the country and be allowed to stay, when so many thousands try year after year to get visas to get into the country legally? It's a slap in the face to so many people, including many of my relatives, who waited to come to this country legally.

16) What do you think of politics?
It's mostly a game; who has more money and who can tell voters what they'd like to hear. I hate politics in its current state.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
Yes. Cloning cells to find treatments for genetic diseases, or cloning to make scientific and medical breakthroughs is not just "okay", but necessary. The problem is, when people think "cloning" they think "making a copy of another human being". That kind of cloning would not be okay, as it would be unethical.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
No.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
A necessary part of our diet, and it tastes good too. I do think that animals raised for slaughter should be treated properly, though.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
18 (today is my birthday!), male, Chinese, San Fran, CA, USA

2) How do you know anything to be true?
I dont, but wondering if you're just in some Matrix like state would be a waste of time.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
Yes. I am a Christian.

4) What happens if you die?
I believe I will go to heaven.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
Only one which is redemption through faith, and faith alone. edit: in Jesus, of course.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
Salvation comes through faith which should mean loving God with all your heart and living your life for Him.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
Doesn't apply.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Simply, what the Bible tells me.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
Because I believe God is true and just.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
Yes. People go to hell when they dont take hold of the salvation God offered through Christ.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
Where? ... I dont think heaven or hell is a physical thing so I dont really know. And if you're asking if I thinki'm going to heaven or hell then I do believe I am going to heaven because I've been trying to live my life for my God, and God looks at the heart.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
I respect them and acknowledge that they do some things better or with more devotion than most Christians do, but I do think they are wrong.

13) What do you think of abortion?
I'm against it in general, but there could probably be acceptions.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
I think it's morally wrong, but I dont think the government has any right to ban people from getting married. So people have the right to protest... the government just shouldn't listen to them.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
I've never really thought about this. There are worse things than immigration though.

16) What do you think of politics?
Um... I dont understand the question. I think more people should get involved.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
I dont see why not unless you take someone's genes without their permission or something like that.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
No way.
19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
It's delicious.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
18, Male, Caucassian, Texas

2) How do you know anything to be true?
Proof, evidence, common logic. I guess it's possible I'm in some tube that'd being fed information through a computer ala Matrix, but if it is, what am I going to do about it?

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

I don't think it's likely. If this is a yes or no answer, then I'd give it a no. Otherwise, I'd give it a slight maybe. I'd like to think there is a God/Gods, but I do not believe there are.

4) What happens if you die?
Nothing. It's like turning your computer off, it just stops

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

Well, I don't believe, but from when i do believe and what I'm looking for in a religion (which is how I'm going to answer the rest of these type of questions), then I'd say many.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

I don't believe that a loving God/Gods would make a single path to get to a heaven. For Christianity as an example, I'd believe that moral people alone go to heaven, whether or not they believe in Jesus Christ

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

Well, I wouldn't see how a religion makes there be a purpose in life, outside of attempting to get somewhere else. I think this is the only life we get, it's the only life everyone gets, so we should live it to the fullest. We shouldn't live in parents basements, we should do something with our life. Nor should be get there by being cheating *******s, it's everyone's only life, if you ruin it for someone you've ruined their entire existence. That is inexcusable. For a single sentence, I'd say it'd be to add much to the world as possible

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

I don't believe there is a black and white moral test, I'd say almost everything is gray. Punching someone is immoral, but if someone hits you first, then it's self defense. If the person just wrecked your car with a pipe, then it'd be justified. Not the best course of action, but not immoral. It's a case by case test to see if something is moral, but if you're looking for just a basic rule, it'd be "Treat others and you'd want to be treated". Even more basically, "Don't be a jerk"

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

Just depends on person to person. Most of the people we'd call evil would call themselves saviors, and believe it. I hold mine to be true because they're simple, and aren't on a black and white scale. No harm can come from it that isn't through a personal choice, so I'd call it moral.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?

I don't believe a loving God would send someone to hell for eternity. I'd say a hell would exist, but not as a dungeon as much as punishment. No one deserves to be tortured for all eternity. Not even Hitler. Ten years, a hundred years, a thousand years, a billion years, even more years then we can even comprehend, that'd be just. But not for all eternity. I'd say someone would go to hell for ruining others lives, and that the length of time they are in hell would be directly relating to their crime

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?

Well, I don't, but if I did, then I'd say heaven,

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

Every religious belief that isn't a purposeful joke or hoax deserves to be treated the same. I'm not willing to make fun of Scientology as much as most people, though I think it was created for money. But I support all religions and their followers, so I'd never shun someone for believing in Scientology, or even try to sway them unless it causes unnecessary harm.

13) What do you think of abortion?

I believe that, if it's before the third trimester, it's the same as using a condom. It's not ending life, it's stopping it from being created. I don't believe thats immoral, because I don't believe in a soul, and therefore you're not "robbing" someone of existing, they don't come into being until that point.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

I think it's insane that people are against it. Now, I can see why religions would want to ban it, and I think they should be allowed to, but not the government. It's nothing more the intolerance and bigotry.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

I'm not sure how this goes with religion, and I'm guessing you're talking about illegal immigration, but I'd say yes. Illegal immigration is a problem, not so much for the people as for the weak border we have, letting drugs and weapons get smuggled in easily.

16) What do you think of politics?

I like politics. Not politicians, but politics. Though, contradictory, I plan to major in political science and help people get elected.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

Cloning a person? I'm not sure. I think it'd be fine in general, but they'd be treated as second class citizens, and might just be made to work as a cheap labor force or army. I don't believe in souls, so I'd view them as people, and they'd be nothing more then manufactured slaves. That'd is what I'd be against. As for cloning body parts, then I'm for that.

18) Are you a vegetarian?

No, though I have no problem with vegetarians or vegans. I might try it for a while to loose weight, though that'd be it.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?

Nothing, really. It's meat. I don't think theres any moral reason to ban a type of meat.

I won't answer all your questions, but I will answer some.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

Older than most of you, Asian, mobile

2) How do you know anything to be true?

I don't. But since this universe seems consistent my assumption of its accuracy seems pretty solid.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

I don't have a belief in god(s) or none.

4) What happens if you die?

You die. Your body decomposes and your consciousness ceases to exist.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

One, to understand yourself is to know god.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

To understand god is to know enlightenment.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

No. There is no singular purpose in life, we all make our own purpose which is both personal and worldly.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

Through your actions or in-actions, do not allow harm to come to others.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

Because it benefits humanity.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?

Eor, your answers actually piqued my interest. Usually you seem very against religion, or at least organized religion. But from what you've responded with here, you seem to be in a sort of search for a greater truth though without certainty of any such thing. Were you ever aligned with a religion?

I didn't expect this to get this far. Might as well answer my own survey now:

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
-16 (17 in 11 days), male, Chinese, California, US.

2) How do you know anything to be true?
-I can't be too sure about sketchy stuff. Everything has a definite, but a lot of things can't really be proven.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
-I believe in God.

4) What happens if you die?
-People either go to heaven or hell.

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
-One.

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
-Through Jesus.

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
-This question doesn't apply since I'm not Atheist =/.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
-A lot of things in the Bible. Also, anything that doesn't cause any type of harm, either physical or mental. Also can't be dishonest to yourself or others.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
-Because I think they are. If I make mistakes, I try learning from them.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
-Yes, if someone doesn't trust in Jesus.

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
-I guess heaven since I accepted Jesus.

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
-There are good things and bad things in every belief. I'm not going to bash people for their beliefs unless they actually think it's okay to harm others.

13) What do you think of abortion?
-I think it's wrong. You never know what those babies could actually do for society in the future if they were never aborted.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
-I'm sort of uncomfortable thinking about the issue, but it's not something I can decide for others.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
-Not really. I think people should have a chance to immigrate and get a better life.

16) What do you think of politics?
-I don't really care much about politics. I should though, but there are a lot of stupid things going on in it.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
-Cloning body parts for medical reasons are alright, but I don't think cloning people for political reasons is okay. Also, if it becomes possible to make different types of chimeras, I don't think we should do that.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
-No.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
-Their tasty, but it would taste a lot better if the animals were treated better while alive.

Sorry about sounding intolerant towards others, but I'm trying to be honest about myself here =/. I actually put the vegetarian and meat question out of randomness.

among the figments of your imagination
1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
17 as of 3/23/07, Male, Caucasian, Oregon USA.

2) How do you know anything to be true?
When there are proven facts.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
I have had a couple semi-supernatural experiences, but not focused enough or definite enough to be called a religious experience.

4) What happens if you die?
All bodily functions cease and your body begins decomposing, after that, who knows?

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?
NA

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?
NA

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.
Yes. The evolutionary and ecological purpose of life is to continue living, and failing that, make new life.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
Contextual.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
I think before I act, and harder than many.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
NA

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
NA

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
They provide psychological solidarity and purpose to many individuals, as well as a set of generally good moral laws with which one can follow ad lead a rewarding life.

13) What do you think of abortion?
If it has to be done, it has to be done.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
whatever floats your boat.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
In some contexts, yes. Overpopulation for example would make immigration an issue.

16) What do you think of politics?
U.S. politics: Shaky, but still salvageable. Not hardly as bad as Mexico's completely corrupt government.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
Until there is a true genetic hazard I have this to say: It may be hard on the individual cloned but if the individual can accept his status and live a normal life, I see no reason to object to it, except that the money may be better spent on more productive causes. It's a lot easier to make a human being the normal way than in a test tube.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
no

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
the better quality you get, the less likely you are to get food poisoning.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?

16, M, Indian, AZ USA

2) How do you know anything to be true?

There is no certainty of truth

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?

No belief

4) What happens if you die?

Nothing

5) If you do believe in God/gods, how many paths are there to God or a god?

6) If you believe in God, how do you get salvation? If you believe in gods, which one do you follow and what kind of path do you have to take?

7) If you don't believe in God/gods, is there a purpose in life? Explain.

No purpose. In the absence of purpose, we (I) life life to optimize pleasure

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?

Ideally, no standards, but I can't hold myself to that. Although my morals have largely slipped into apathy recently, I think I still hold a backbone of morality imprinted on me from childhood; it's comprised of...standard "good boy" stuff. Like holding doors open and being generous (but only in some respects and situations...). It's complicated. Suffice it to say I don't care.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?

No certainty

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?

12) What do you think of other beliefs?

Don't care. People that are largely and visibly driven by their beliefs or faith or whatever annoy me for a little bit, but usually it's not a big deal.

13) What do you think of abortion?

Probably...don't care. Maybe leaning in the direction of pro-choice, but maybe that's too choosy.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?

Don't care. Once again, leaning toward yes

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?

I don't really follow politics too much, so I can't give a thorough, or at least thoroughly thought-out answer. So I'm going to say....don't care, leaning toward no.

16) What do you think of politics?

Don't follow it, think it's a strange business with a lot of frivolity, but don't really mind either.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.

Yes. I don't really care for identity, so I don't mind cloning. I guess I'm probably not addressing the main issues, but I'm too lazy to look them up. In any case, I don't consider the human genome sacred or anything, so I don't care about's its artificial replication.

18) Are you a vegetarian?

Yes. But only by convention. I've considering eating meat for a few months now, but am mostly bogged down by that pitifully emotional part of me that begs tradition.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?

Don't know, what do you mean, its healthiness, the morality of eating it? I don't really care.

There are some questions that I added. Remember, try to keep the topic clean by not arguing about other people's answers.
Hardy lulz for the apathy.

1) What's your age, sex, race, and location (State/Province, Country)?
16, Male, Indian, New York

2) How do you know anything to be true?
Even if the reality around us is fictious we can affect our environment. So regardless of whether it's true or not I suppose it's irrelevant.

3) Do you believe in God/gods or none at all?
Nope.

4) What happens if you die?
Nothing =/.

Explain.
I do not believe there is a universal purpose in life. We are independant beings and create our own purpose.

8) What are your standards for right and wrong?
This one had me thinking for a while. In the end I believe there are no universal standards for good and bad, as long as it is in accordance with the general will of a populus I suppose the standards for right and wrong are acceptable.

9) How do you know your standards are true and just?
Because I am human, and all humans are born with a natural ego.

10) If you believe in God or gods, do you believe in hell? If so, what sends someone to hell?
See #3

11) If you believe in heaven and/or hell, where do you think you are going and why?
See #3

12) What do you think of other beliefs?
To each his own, as long as it helps you satisfy your own life.

13) What do you think of abortion?
It is a completely legal process and up to the mother whether she wants an abortion or not.

14) What are your views on gay marriage?
I believe it should be legal. End of story.

15) Should immigration be considered a major issue?
Do you mean illegal immigration or immigration in general. I suppose it is a large issue because it directly impacts our economy as well in extreme cases national security.

16) What do you think of politics?
It's all a show =/.

17) Is cloning okay? Please explain.
Depends for what purposes. If for scientific purposes I suppose it would. As a commercial industry I would dissaprove of it.

18) Are you a vegetarian?
Nope.

19) What do you think of the meat that we eat?
Non-organic methods of farming and producing livestock is fairly disgusting T_T.
