thank you for the updates, I just happened to be listening to lost tapes as I was reading that haha

but how was his email published to the public?

also he is overestimating his fans I think. I love him and all but I wouldn't be outside no buildings protesting an album release....assuming I lived in new york

The British scene is toooooooooooooooooo violent for my liking. Obviously there are exceptions but the majority of people's bars are about stabbing people, smoking weed and generally just running your block. People are over obsessed with repping their area, which we call 'ends' here. Like in London people get in mad beef and people die just because you're from West London and someone's from South or whatever. Joy. Even dudes I've known all my life that are spitting are spitting on that tip. Most of their lyrics are garbage.

The British scene isn't dominated by hip hop, but by grime, UK funky house and dubstep. I'm not into any of those genres heavily but funky house is mad in the clubs, gets you mad hype.

Some UK funky house

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS2QtS8TFHQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1qKG1kJyKU

Funky just makes you want to dance whenever, wherever.

This tune is a classssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJTzjBd35wg

Some classic grime tracks

6 years old but the classic grime track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwfikgc6vs4&feature=fvst

Another classic

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xy3RjUX3UeQ&NR=1

Flirta D's noises >>>>>>>>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1ZgCkUt7wM&feature=related

You see what I mean by the violence.

Those three were quite old, here's something more recent and another example of typical grime

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP6x_n5t9vM

Recently the UK scene has been dominated by 'skanking'. Skanking is basically dancing, the way the US has krumping and all that, but waaaaaaaaay less technical and everyone just joins in.

Eg.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmHClIHgnRI

Random tracks that have been big, past and present. NOTE, I AM NOT CO-SIGNING ANYYYYYY OF THESE (I like some lol) just giving you a flavour of what people are into over here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKDixFhvCAU&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzvGKas5RsU&ob=av2e

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HK1SpAy_cR4

First dude spitting in the video below is basically the Jay of the UK scene as in he has been in the game maaaaaad long
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Er5ke1nd3SE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7Pc235tGt0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GibLntdLiJA

Some of you might have heard of Lowkey, he's toured with Technique I think.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yCeqM6W4iQ&feature=related

Here's his most recent track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmBnvajSfWU

Thought provoking material.

There's some good stuff like I said. I can't lie I like some grime from time to time.

But yeah in general UK music <<<<<

But London in general >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

All this has got me hyped.

JERSEY!
this is really cool thanks for doing this. well not so much the tracks, but just the experience of seeing a different scene.

that kyla track was hot.

not really feeling grime at all tbh.

P Money I can't even take seriously

Head shoulders knees and toez? I would prolly end up dancing to that if I was over there:embarrass....:)

Still gotta finish the rest

I like the Crazy Cousinz feat. Kyla track

I like that Meleka track

I like the Fish Go Deep track

Too Many Man is a funny track.

I feel like i can get hyped to Roll Deep...there's like 7 people in the group tho..

I like that Team shadetek track. didn't at first, but i let it play through and ended up liking it.

I like that Dizzee Rascal track. i knew who he was previously, downloaded his album, and deleted it before i felt like listening to it.

that lowkey 120 bars reminds me of dmx's spellbound..

I like that terrorist? track.

I don't like grime. anything i didn't say i liked, i don't like :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaKIHHB2ncI

Maybe Typac's did but Tupac's didn't.
HAHAHAHAHA!

Typac, what a beast!

Almost everything that one source said was wrong.

For starters, it was never certified diamond. Don't take my word for it, go look at the list RIAA certified diamond albums: http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinum...d&searchterms=diamond&terminclude=&termexact=

And there's no way of confirming it went platinum in 4 hours, because the RIAA didn't make any certifications until 2 months after it's release: http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinum...Year=1958&endYear=2008&sort=Artist&perPage=25

So even if this claim was true (which I highly doubt), you'd never be able to find any proof.

EDIT: Additionally, Life After Death, which was certified diamond (unlike All Eyez on Me), sold 690K copies in it's first week (much less in 4 hours), making the claim even more unlikely.

EDIT2: Speakerboxx/The Love Below, another diamond rap album, sold 510K copies in it's first week. It wasn't even platinum after two weeks.

so after doing some math, in order for all eyez on me to have gone platinum in 4 hours...

...the album would have had to sell at an average of 4,166.6 copies every MINUTE of the first 4 hours it was released lol

I just did some research. MMLP is the fastest selling rap album of all time, selling 1.76 million copies. Before MMLP, Doggystyle held the record. Since Doggystyle came out before All Eyez on Me, Doggystyle was faster selling, or else it wouldn't have held the record until MMLP came out.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Marshall_Mathers_LP

Doggystyle sold 803K albums in it's first week.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doggystyle

Therefore, All Eyez on Me didn't hit 1mil sales in it's first week, and certainly not in 4 hours.

TL;DR Version: What, 1 million? There's no way that can be right!
(As internet users, I'll be disappointed if nobody gets the reference.)
