Regardless of what painful events are going on with the spikes, that's a 10/10 handstand.

I miss the times that wolf was a rare sight, now everyone's maining him because of some stupid bandwagon.
They’ll play him till they get gimped by the other top tiers. He has a bad matchup against a majority of them.

But if they don’t, then welcome to the future I guess.

Cause you yourself have no proof that he loses to the top tiers so nice try
My opinion, guess it depends on who all one considers to be top tier. I guess no reason to continue this exchange though.

Anyone else think people who complain about Wolf's bair being too strong don't understand why it's strong to begin with..? I dunno, maybe it killing at like 80 from barely past center stage are all they're looking at. Which is kind of nuts if you think about it.

But I think they used the same principle they used with the spacies smashes...Fox has a strong usmash, Falco fsmash, Wolf dsmash. Fox has a strong uair, Falco fair, Wolf bair. I know there's a nuance here, there's no "bsmash", but I don't think it would make as much sense to give just one of them a ridiculously strong dair, as a spike is a spike regardless.

Unless you wanna give Wolf Ganondorf's dair.

Apparently complaining about Wolf is the norm, and if anyone uses him, its only because you're either a furry or a scrub who can't play Smash. Thats it. No other options.

Says the guy who has genuinely liked Wolf since Star Fox 64, played Wolf in Brawl to the point I used him AT TOURNAMENTS, and dropped Smash 4 for many reasons including Wolf's being absent. (Oh, and also, wolves are my favorite animal...!!) But sure...people like me only play Wolf cause Tumblr animal porn and tier lists, and because ZeRo said so...

**** this community, sometimes. Seriously.

Yeah its kind of frustrating. Like whenever I tell people I main wolf there's an inevitable sideways look. But in all honesty as soon as I saw he was back....I knew. He was my guy and as soon as I played him it just kind of clicked. Star fox is my favorite series and wolfs my favorite charachter so he was always gonna be my main. But I guess I'm just a bandwagoner now.

This community is just toxic that way. Doesn't matter who you main, scrubs are going to hate, but especially if it's a character considered high/top tier.

For me, Cloud's inclusion was the worst thing that could have happened in 4. I was so excited for one of my favorite characters in all of gaming to join Smash, but soon after started getting terrible amounts of vitriol directed at me for using a 'broken, pay to win' character. Go onto Reddit and defend yourself, get downvoted to hell for saying something as audacious as "Cloud isn't the second best character is Smash." Then Ultimate comes out and he's been nerfed into the dirt.

It's sad, but that's what comes when you play a game that has so many tryhards and wanna-be professionals. Best thing you can do is just ignore them, and say you lucked out when one of your favorite characters just happens to be good.

I'd be lying if I didn't say I've been kind of secretly hoping Joker will be broken to take some of the heat off Wolf though. Like, when Bayo began her streak of dominance, Sheik and Diddy players suddenly became kinda cool again.

I'm convinced there aren't many ways to successfully put out the fire. Only ways to ignore it, or divert it somewhere else.

You and likely everyone else here
Remember when Ultimate first came out and everyone thought wolf would be doomed to low mid-tier because he lost his godly F-Smash from Brawl? Good times. Back then, only us true Wolf fans stuck with it while the masses chased after their precious tiers. Now that all the pros have taken up Wolf, suddenly he's broken and everyone and their mom plays him. I can almost feel Sakurai reaching for the nerf bat now and I hope he hasn't traded up for the Lucille version.

If he gets nerfed, I'd still play him. IDGAF he's fun to play. They could make laser do 1% damage, or even remove the hitstun entirely and I'd still do stuff. My biggest weakness with him right now is that I don't laser enough because I like CQC and get bored with camping. I already have to make a mental note in game sometimes "oh, I should probably shoot this gun for a bit". Joke's on them if they nerf it, I forget it exists half the time.

I'm right there with you. I HATE camping and find it absolutely boring to do, so sometimes I have to remind myself that I can poke from a distance.

I have to be honest, I picked up Wolf at first but wasn't convinced he was high-tier. I dropped him for Roy and Cloud, but have only recently started gravitating back to Wolf after seeing better players do well with him.

That's pretty understandable. Greninja was my main in Sm4sh, mostly due to Wolf's exclusion in the first place, so when Ultimate came out I was torn between the two. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't heartbroken at the loss of Wolf's brawl F-smash, and since the Ult version of wolf is so different from his Brawl version, I didn't have super high hopes for his capability either. I kept him as a secondary, but decided to focus my skills on Greninja which worked out fairly well for me. Once I saw what higher level players could do with Wolf however, I started training harder with him, and in the end, I found that he and Greninja actually compliment each other in awesome ways. Each seems to be able to cover the weaknesses of the other. To be honest though, I was hoping that Wolf would have flown under the radar a little bit better than he did. Now the cat's out of the bag and even if Sakurai doesn't nerf him, ppl are going to have his MU down to a tee. All the more reason why I think the meta will evolve to have everyone maining at least two characters in order to resist adaptation.

I think I find it so hard to keep camping with wolf because the rest of Wolfs kit is so enjoyable and it encourages risky outrages plays. Wolf flash is rarely the best option but GOD DAMM does if fell good to finish a string with it. And I will keep going after it like a wolf goes after a deer while saying play times over *****.

There is nothing more orgasmic in this game than finishing a string with Wolf flash to bag the last kill of the match.

I always liked his character in Brawl, but it wasn't until years later when I came back to Brawl that I thought to try him out again after so long since I skipped out on Smash Wii U. I'd forgotten how much fun he could be since I played mostly as Luigi, Fox, Snake, Captain Falcon or mix it up with someone else. He quickly became a favorite of mine when I played Brawl again sometime in 2014, and I was really hoping he'd make the last of the DLC cycle for Smash 3DS when I later bought that version of the game. I really couldn't care less about tier lists, and have never paid attention to them - I was only hoping my favorite character would come back in Smash Ultimate. He was sort of a character I didn't know I wanted until I played him in Brawl when he was introduced, and playing it again years later reminded me of how much fun he could be to play as. Of course I was disappointed when he didn't make the last cut of DLC characters, though I can't say I was entirely surprised. He always seemed sort of like an "under the radar" character to me, especially since he made it late into Brawl's development. It's really nice to see him getting the proper treatment in Ultimate; it's strange but seeing his forward Smash getting nerfed like it did was kind of disappointing, but after a while of playing it's almost like I've forgotten about it. Ever since I've unlocked him he's pretty much almost completely stolen the spotlight.

It's no surprise seeing how people are reacting now that Wolf has gotten much more, "out there" with Smash players, which only makes me thankful I've never bothered much with playing either in tournaments or online. I had fun during the Brawl days playing and recording some online matches, but over time I just moved on to playing other games and I've been content to be playing regular matches by myself, so I guess it doesn't really affect me. I'm just glad he's back, and I'll probably keep supporting him as a character no matter what happens.

Having claws like he has, can seem very inconvenient to daily living. Maybe he trims them on his off days.

What's inconvenient about them? He can still handle the control stick of his wolfen and they help him rip apart his enemies/food into chewable pieces. Besides, those bag ladies at the grocery store seem to do just fine.

^Fighting for on thing: You might not always want to use a violent slash towards someone especially in training. Can he even make a fist? Anything requiring you to push in buttons, labtop or even worse a small cellular device. I know Wolf, Fox and Falco are anthros, but with claws like Wolf, handling a razor to shave(if the do grow beards and mustaches) will be tricky. And handling anything considered delicate.

I see your point. It's definitely awkward, but it's not like he's running around with Lady Deathstrike claws or anything. I've seen women type with massive nails. It's doable. I just think it would get super annoying. At least in Wolf's case, he doesn't need to worry about shaving...

So did any of you know that Wolf is apparently a fan of Lego Batman?

Hello, my name is Kj. I play online as VBlaze516. Currently, I'm picking up Wolf as one of my secondaries. I've played him for two days and made some progress, but I still feel like I'm lacking. Any friendly advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Where do you feel lacking while playing wolf what strengths with him do you see that you can't seem to bring out in him this might help me in the long run but for now I guess some general advice

Moves that should use alot
Blaster: nerfe d but still a great move to use alot in the course of a match with its height damage and relatively low commitment just be more careful with it now
Nair: a great move that can be used in a variety of situations get off me combo starter finisher edgeguarder neutral tool its just a move that can be used almost everywhere
Ftilt: its range low commitment is one of wolfs best neutral tools its disjoint is long and it is a great move in general not much else to say except use it
Fair: wolfs main combo tool it will extend and strengthen wolfs great advantage state by alot and this move is one of the reasons he's such a dangerous charachter in genral use alot

His other of course all have uses and niches I just wanted to go over some of his Bread and butter tools quickly of you want I can go over his other moves uses as well but I would appreciate more specificity and where you want to be with the chararchter

Hot take: Wolf flash as a game finisher is heavily underestimate and heavily underused, its a kill move at 30-40 and onwards that he can true combo into even at much later percents

What would you say is the most reliable combo to lead into Wolf Flash? I've seen the thread with all the percentage breakdowns, but the hardest part for me is setting it up. Any suggestions?

I've been practicing my Wolf a lot. Are there any combos I should know about?
