As far as we know, there is no record keeping of online matches in Brawl, so if this continues to stay true, will you end up keeping your own record? I would like to imagine that I would, but I know I'll forget, so I'll have to decide it by February.

No. I don't like records. Don't ask me why not, I just don't. I was actually thrilled to learn that the online system won't keep win/loss records, particularly given most games' penchant for doing exactly that.

I'd say....no.

While I would like to have a record of my wins and losses, I know I'll get lazy and stop keeping track within a week, so I won't even start.

Even if someone wanted to keep a record for as long as they play, they would be discouraged to go on with it when they first lose.

As much as a potentially good idea that seems... I see two things to stop it in it's tracks, assuming a ranking/stat recorder isn't implemented in Brawl.

1. How can we trust people to actually record their stats truthfully? They could just go and say that they have a 99% win ratio with no actual proof.

2. As stated before... it would get tiring and too time consuming/tedious to bother keeping track of yourself for that long.

Also... don't be surprised if this place is closed.

No.

I wont keep my record. Nobody would know if you were telling the truth anyway. And it'd be too tedious to keep the records for your own personal benefit. I mean what are you trying to prove anyway.

Everyone wins or loses sometime.

I'd like to, but with no way to prove it, and having it affect absolutely nothing, it'd become more cumbersome than anything.

omg there will be record keeping! playing with anyone is for people who dont know about this site.
There willl be thousands of people on this site on your firedds list.
We will have our own lobby with games and tournements you can join.

Why would you keep track of matches that dont matter.
Im never gonna use the "with anyone mode" its a stupid idea.

I had this idea when I first heard Brawl wasn't going to have rankings.

Yes, I will do it, and for proof, I plan on taking a picture after every match (either with my cell phone or with a digital camera) and storing them on my computer. A lot of work? Sure, but I want to do it so I know how I compare with other smashers and if Nintendo isn't going to make it easy, I'll do it the hard way.

Yeah, Ban Heim, but that's not proof, because you could only take pictures of the matches you won, if you wanted.

I guess that's true. Didn't really think about that. However, I'm not going to do that since it's mainly for my own record keeping purposes, so if anyone asks for proof and doesn't believe me, then too bad I guess. I'll know the records are accurate.

I would not, just because many of the reasons others have already stated. However, I will try to remember all of the funniest/greatest matches that I've had :)

Well, I'm mostlikely NEVER going to play "With Anyone", so I won't need to.

If I do play "With Anyone", I'll be sure to keep a record.

keeping a record yourself would suck the fun out of playing. And it would be to tempting to give yourself extra wins. And if it was to good, no one would believe you. And, don't start sentances with "And" like me. It's terrible grammar.

I can't believe some people even bother keeping personal records.

I'll MOSTLY be playing "with anyone" just for anonymous play. Records? No thanks. What point am I trying to prove with my records. That I won 500 matches out of 600? Weeee..

There's no point, even if you actually manage to keep a legit record, people will accuse you of lieing and there's no way to know that you aren't

I didnt know melee had record keepings either..Oh thats right..I never checked them, once. I can see if this game was Mario Kart and I wanted to keep my record of fasted lap time...but eh..

You do what you want folks. But I think taking a picture from your camera phone for EVERY match you win or loss is a bit extreme there.

Wait, I changed my mine.

Before, I said I wouldn't keep records.

But I've decided I will keep records of all my wins.

I'll keep my own records too just for fun. Online records anyways. I wouldn't lie to myself. :p

I had an idea buzzing around for authentic stat records, but it might take too much work to organize. Having levels designed on the stage builder, and assuming you can set spawning points, having a third player monitor the match from an enclosed area and acting as a witness might work (I was thinking under the level, and having an escape route so that player could K.O. themself when the game was over.). However, I don't know the abilities of the characters, and people might try to fly into the enclosed areas with the better flyers to take out the ref, but we'll see.

Maybe we will be able to spectate matches live anyways.

Man, why are people ********? Someone wants to keep a record for themselves and you can't understand why? Oh noes, that means they're wrong and you are right because they want to do things differently.

You may not care about how you do, but some people, myself included, do. I like to know how I compare against the next smasher. I'm a very competitive person, so having a high winning streak makes me feel good and getting my *** kicked makes me want to work harder and improve.

So why would I want to lie to myself and add extra wins to my record when it's for my own personal benefit to be honest with myself? That'd just be stupid. If I'm going to take the time to keep a record, I'm certainly not going to **** with the numbers because I want a high win to loss ratio.

If someone asks me for proof of my record, I'll show them the pictures I've taken. If they don't believe me or accuse me of not including losses, then too bad I guess. I really won't care.

Man, the ****ing average brain age/maturity of people who post here can't be higher than a 12 year-old's.

********? You are the only one name calling here. Calm down and grow up first. I never said it was wrong, I simply said it's extreme in my opinion. Stop acting like I forced it on you. You need to go comprehend the word opinion in a forum discussion.

If you are so desperate to know how well you do against a smasher, then just get their friend code, and just PM them and ask how well you did. Really, it's not that hard. Competitiveness has NOTHING to do with caring about a winning streak. Everyone loses sometimes, Everyone wins sometimes. For me I can mentally know how well im doing. If I find myself winning alot of matches, then I fiqure I'm pretty good. If not, the opposite. Having a record chart just adds pressure and feels like I'm only playing for a high or good record, which I'm not. Please also note, this is an opinion. Again, I could care less what you do, I just posted what I felt about record keeping, which has nothing to do with *********** if I'm not agreeing with you.

Your sarcastic tone implies that you think what other people do is wrong. You aren't directly insulting them, but the way you said it implies that they're stupid for taking the time to keep a record. The only difference between you and me is that I call people ******** out loud but you try to do it indirectly, so don't try to act cool by telling me to grow up. If you're going to insult someone, grow some balls and just say it.

You need to understand that people will do things differently from you (what a surprise...the world doesn't actually revolve around you...who would have guessed?). And please, you know that the majority of people on smashboards are just children with nothing better to do but troll the forums.

Um, No? How about you go back and re-read yet again what I wrote. I'll be so kind as to even post the quote.

You know what you're doing? Making Assumptions. You can't really say whats sarcasm on the internet, unless I was directly saying it. You're just making up a bunch of BS right now. And Yes, You really do need to grow up. You obviously don't know how to read, Can't judge sarcasm, and need to call names to make yourself feel better. I don't name call to prove points. Flaming would only lead to bans, and further show you are the one angered and don't know what you are clearly trying to say. Almost like a child bickering over something stupid. And no duh, I'm pretty **** sure I know people do things different from me. Did you even read what I wrote?

Did I say the world revolved around me? For Christ sake, look up the definition of opinion or atleast read what I quoted you on. Your just stating points that really deal nothing which is related to me it's disgusting.

Oh, and I'm confident in the amount of balls I have...If that has anything to do with this discussion.I believe you are the one unsure since you have to result to calling others ********. I don't name call indirectly or directly. That's maturity folks. Something you need. Just shows you take this too seriously. Seriously, Calm down.

And you basically have to call me stupid and tell me to grow up to feel good about yourself, so how are we different here? Yeah, I'm angry. I don't give a **** about that. I'll admit it. I may be acting childish but so are you (I can't read and judge sarcasm? Not name calling, but it's a child-like accusation, if you want to play it that way). Here, I can do it too. You can't type and you make punctuation errors, so you're obviously a stupid person. Wow...that was pretty easy.

What you said isn't outright sarcasm, but it has a sarcastic tone ("I won 500 out of 600 matches? weeeee" or "I didnt know melee had record keepings either..Oh thats right..I never checked them"), so you need to take a minute to re-read what I said before lashing back at me.

Just continue stroking your e-**** if it makes you feel better.

EDIT: And yeah, arguing with you is pointless. You have too much "balls" for me, (and my girlfriend's coming over) so I'll do the smart thing and walk away from this. I'm done here.

Ok wow, You are a serious hypocrite. Do you honestly think I give 2 cents about making myself look good online? No, I'm not you. I don't need ridcious records to show if Im doing good or not. You are starting to sound like a troll who just wants to throw insults.

Alright im tired of typing the same thing over again. Suming this up.

And you basically have to call me stupid and tell me to grow up to feel good about yourself
Assumption.

so are you (I can't read and judge sarcasm? Not name calling, but it's a child-like accusation, if you want to play it that way).
No, It's actully true. Why shouldn't it be a child-like accusation if you are indeed acting like a child? Thanks for proving my point..yet again...

You can't type and you make punctuation errors, so you're obviously a stupid person. Wow...that was pretty easy.
And you have perfect grammar? Not. Again, major contradiction here. Also, grammar doesn't determine intelligence. Saying someone is an idiot because of a spelling mistake is just trying to find ways of again, making yourself look like you know what you're talking about. This isn't English class. It's a smash board. Do you think I give freakin rats a$$ if I'm trying to type perfectly? You got my point, read it without problem, therefore there is no problem. If you think I'm going to type like im in a college class to a whining angry user...err..Moving along.

but it has a sarcastic tone ("I won 500 out of 600 matches? weeeee" or "I didnt know melee had record keepings either..Oh thats right..I never checked them"), so you need to take a minute to re-read what I said before lashing back at me.
Where are you getting all this bogus BS from? Again, Stop with the assumptions. It impied nothing of stupidity. I see what you are now. Having a winning record just fills that part in your brain that makes you think you are good. Yes, you can say whatever the hell you want, but if you are getting mad over something as small as this, you obviously have some issues. You probably can't even take a loss.

Just continue stroking your e-**** if it makes you feel better.
And spouting a bunch of insults isn't doing the same for you? Wow, again, hypocrite. I could of easily said the same thing. Yes, it is pointless. You know why? Because you started an entire argument over something stupid like this.

If something like that offended you, You seriously do need to grow up, because you are acting childish. It obviously isn't anything mature. And yes, you do need to walk away. All you are going to do is just spout more insults about calling people idiots, thinking you are actually offending someone.

Buddy stuff like this doesn't bother me. Go ahead and throw another "you're a idiot" insult out. It seems that's all you can do right now. Name call and cry.
