Match, as in, a single game out of a set.

I could go Ganon first round, first game of a tournament, win the game, and never use him again for the rest of the spiel, but since he helped me advance, he gets credit.

You're really only supposed to include mains i.e the characters that you used/use the most. If you use ganon randomly one game, but don't use him the rest of the tournament, there's not much reason for you to include him.
