Why do you main Zamus?

I saw a similar thread in the Samus character discussion, and I thought I'd make one here for fun.

To break the ice, I'm a very big Metroid fan. To me a sci-fi series about exploration and solving puzzles while dreadfully killing epic alien creatures using a big, powerful and badass space suit is nothing less than perfection. I've also yet to be let-down by any of the games I've played so far (Excluding ''MOM'' which I can't consider canon because of certain inconsistencies).

Samus also ends up being my favourite Nintendo character, being an absolutely fearless bounty hunter, jumping into risk without any thought of a safety net to cover her rear despite some close calls(thank you Rundas ). Judging from the cutscenes and her animations she seems to think of nothing else than the best possible next move.

Despite my love for the character I've been unable to adjust to her fighting style in smash bros, so I am practically forced to play the Zero Suit if I want to have a chance of playing ''Samus Aran'' in competition. I would enjoy if Nintendo would stop trying to make her look like a pornstar though.

Enough about me though, whats your reason for maining ZSS?

Lol, I would've preferred a yellow and purple skin instead of those alternatives though. Or maybe a female version of the Galactic federation marine armor with no helmet ^_^

Why? Bikini Samus has been around since the original Metroid. It's a nice, nostalgic refernece to an awesome NES game (even though there's no red bikini)

I respectfully disagree, I personally think it gives off a bad Image to the character. If I wanted to see hot booty, I'm on the internet, its two clicks away.

When I first saw Videos of Salem playing ZSS in Brawl I fell in love with her flashy tricks and the way she dances across the stage. My Brawl mains either sucks or non-existant is Smash 4, so now I main ZSS, and play her in 98% of my matches.

Yeah she really does have some flashy animations, the Jetboots also really helped this out. Despite being... heels xD

I can't say I'm much of a Salem fan though.

Speed and combo potential. I love aggressive play and ZSS has the most combo potential in the game IMO.

Now I'm curious, what was your first Metroid game and is it still your favourite?
Mine is Zero Mission and yes it is, solely because of the sequence breaking.

So I asked Samus to check the back of her ship to see if they had any ****s to give about that over sexualization and she said the galactic federation was out of stock xD.

@ Tobi_Whatever TBH I started with super metriod when i was like 10 (apparently I was like 5 when this game came out and i got it close to release) It must have been one of my favorites because I Tl;DR lent my game to a friend like 4 years later and he hacked it and when i got it back it stopped saving data I was pretty mad.

Ended up having to always speed run the game and while sequence breaking was a thing I never really learned about it you know being a dumb kid and all. I only managed to self discover stupid tedious sequence breaking like using wall jump to climb up that red area and super missiles to kill the turtles after the green area and then using a beam and repeating to get out. going on to get retardedly early power bombs.

Zero mission with zss's first appreance was a good one as well, It's kinda weird i've played like all of them except pinball.
I beat all of them that i've played except for prime 2 I think i was super far near the end and prime 3 I was half way.

Other M turned me off and it wasn't this whole other side of the spectrum Samus it was the "hey stop what your doing and look at the screen for something that would be insignificant to most" just to advance.

Other M however did manage to finally justify you starting a Metroid game and not having all the weapons and stuff since "Adam" was in charge.

Ranting sorry

Super Metroid , Zero Mission and Fusion were among the top I guess.

Final note if Samus is going to be Over Sexualized anyways shouldn't it be fitting I err any Metroid fan main her ,become the best and start taking peoples money to compensate tarnishing her image/honor ? xD

Other M really had a lot of issues starting with her design, the mediocre God of War gameplay, the stupid first person segments etc etc. I hope the next one redeems the series.

I suppose you're right, but you had rush your damn a$$ to complete the game to get nothing but a picture or a cinematic of what could be considered ''sexualization'' (if you could even consider it that) but going by that logic would also mean characters like The Hulk are sexualized MoFos.

I'm almost always main pressure heavy, fast, rapid combo based characters in fighting games, and action games at large. I'm huge into the Bayonetta and DMC games and, in my opinion, her mechanics reward the same skills that those games reward for the most part. It's a nice, comfortable and satisfying transition to make for me. Plus, Metroid Prime is my favorite game, so there's that.
