Why do guys bring their girlfriends to tournaments?

Like I said above, blatant disrespect.
But if you behave this way, it doesn't matter. Karma has a funny way of knocking those who knock others down.
I'm serious. But I won't do that now. It's just how I felt back before I had my girl.
If she's flirting with me back, I'm going for it. Of course if she goes like "I got a boyfriend" but still flirting with me Imma still flirt. But if she goes "I got a boyfriend" and walks away, then obviously that's a done deal right there. I've never fought over no girl (And I don't plan on it). I just weed out which ones are checkin' me out and I just try to go from there. I don't plan on going as far as having sex and there are 2 reasons for that:
1) I'm still a virgin and just looking for the one that is down for me.
2) Already got a girl at the moment.
So yeah. You better be pretty secure about your relationship with her before you bring her around a bunch of dudes. Cause chances are she's gonna get hit on.

Exactly, dont get mad at me cause your girl picks me. If I see a girl at a tournament and your not doing her right then im gonna run game. Seriously if I brought my girl to a tournamet I would let her roam free. Because I trust her. Thank me for helping you find someone that truly cares for you.

Seriously Ive only seen girls that openly slutty in malls, and they NEVER have serious boyfriends. So if you have a GF and bring her to a tourny (and are at least sort of serious (like not one nighter)), chances are 100% that she won't leave you.
She's definitely going to make friends though obviously.

It's a plus because girls are usually pretty cool. Not because they are bangin' hot sluts and must "get at them"
Actually its a little of both. I mean, I go for the smash but its nice to see a little female competition. Its also very "cool" to lay game when not participating in competition. "get at them" can mean a variety of things. Such as sharing tea and crumpets while disscussing politics, or going on a date to see a broadway play to get to know each other. Or it can mean to get her back to the crib to wax and teach her a few "tricks"... lol
A girl isnt a **** because she thinks another guy is attractive. Most likely you wont be able to "get the skins" the first night. But that can be your long term goal... but thats a different topic. The bottom line for this particular sub debate is that you shouldn't bring your girlfriend to a tournament (which is predominantly male) unless your are certain and have absolute confidence that she will act accordingly in the proper manner. If by some chance someone else has caught her eye, then your anger and agression should be directed toward her for her betrayal , and not the guy. You should then proceed to reevaluate your relationship. Point Blank.

I think the fact that The Fear quoted R. Kelly lyrics, which are in some language foreign to English (And R. Kelly sucks.), made me not want to read the rest of his posts.
But umm a club is different from a smash tourney.... that's a really ****ing stupid comparison. a club is pretty well split in gender, while smash tournies are like 98% male. it also automatically shows seriousness in a relationship if your girl would go to a smash tourney with you, so you're just a **** if you go for some dude's girlfriend at a smash tourney.
while there's nothing wrong with going for a girl who's taken if you aren't stupid about it (unless it's like a 4 year relationship or something; then it's just a **** move), smash tournies are much different. you aren't being a good smash bro by doin' that. and play the game instead of flirting.

Really? Cause all I do is state the truth. Plus if you read any of my posts you'd realise that my intentions are good intentions. If I see something that catches my interests, I'm going to get to know more about it.
Ok. That's cool. We all grow up differently. You tent to trust people without getting to know them. While I trust no one unless they give me a reason to trust them. How I grew up, it is to trust a few and protect family.
Again. I have morals. But if you're some stranger then I should really care about you? I mean if you're metally ******** then yeah there's going to be sympathy. But if you're not then you're just another person. Would you care for a homeless guy on the side of the road? Would you trust him? Most common answer would be no. Why because you know nothing about him. You don't know why he went homeless. Probably sold everything he had for crack. Being to trusting of people will only lead into you being dragged down into a deep hole. Wheather that hole is the grave or not depends on the people you trust on first sight.
What about a prostitute? A hustler? Drug dealer? Should I care about them or trust them? I wouldn't. Why? Because they're all out to play you for what you got. Do what they have to so they can get by in life. Doesn't mean what they're doing is right. But it's probably what they have to do to survive.
You're also correct. Life isn't a game. Which is why I live everyday that it could be my last. Live it up while you can because you never know what tomorrow brings.

Al ya n*ggas saying that you wouldn't bring your girlfriend to a tournament because you're afraid other smashers are gonna flirt with her should check your relationships out. Thats just being insecure and not having trust for your girlfriend. So the guy shouldn't even be with his girl in the first place.
Another factor on why a smasher's girlfriend ends up flirting with another smasher is because her boyfriend isn't doing something right or not getting something done in the relationship. I've met many people and made awesome new friends in my life because of traveling all over the place for the great game called Melee. Although there's a huge difference between someone who's actually my friend to someone just being a "smash friend". For example, if one of my good friends/best friend has a girlfriend and I end up meeting her, I wouldn't flirt with her. If his girlfriend flirts with me, I'll let my friend know because he's my ***** and I care about him. Now if its a "smash friend's" (aka just some dude I barely know but we both play smash) girlfriend and she flirts with me, I'm definitely gonna flirt back and holla. If I see a girl giving me the eye, I'm gonna go spit my game right quick. Besides, the girl can even lie to me and say she's single as well, but I would care less if she's taken unless its my friend/best friend's girl.

Ugh. When a girl is going out with you, she's not your property. She's entitled to do whatever the hell she wants, be it slapping some smasher in the face for flirting with her or hooking up with DJN because he's straight up pimpin. If she actually submits to this flirting, then you need to reconsider your relationship because she's flirting with other guys and more importantly, find out what you're doing wrong to leave her unsatisfied with you.

Thing is though, most people flirt even when in relationships. Meaningless flirting is something I and past girlfriends have had to deal with. If you have a problem with that then yeah, you shouldn't be in the relationship like that.
Rhan is right, a smash tournament is one of the least likely places your girl is gonna get hit on. School, mall, out with friends, all have more chances for her to get hit on. It's like saying "don't walk outside past a certain time because you might get hurt." ****, you can get hurt at any hour of the day.
The only reason I don't flirt with smashers girls is because certain smashers helped me along in life, so I consider smash to be like a 'second family' and hitting on a smashers girl is incest.
If it's just some random girl that is single/you don't know is taken then it's fine if you want to hit on her. I wouldn't do that now since I'm taken and plan to stay that way, but it shouldn't be an excuse to stop you.
"Maybe she has a boyfriend" shouldn't be enough trigger your morals to the highest caliber and stop you from talking to her and hittin on her.
Mostly just read bits and pieces of this last few pages so apologies if this has already been posted and worded differently.

I brought an ex to a tournament and it was hot and sweaty and awkward...but my current gf loves melee..the only reason I would bring her to a tourney is just so I can spend time with her between matches, I would feel bad though because of how bored she would be..
