Out of those, probably Link or Solid Snake.

But if Lucario is in Brawl, that would become my answer to whom I'd master first, because I'd use him far more than the other characters and would dedicate myself to becoming superb with that character.

But out of the already confirmed, Link I think, though I will play through parts of the game as Snake and get pretty good with him too.

I could be at least pretty good with just about any character, though I just can't do very well in Melee as Pichu...»_»

Pit, always pit, no matter how sucky he is, I'm going to play as pit for an entire year no matter how he turns out.

if he's really bad/doesnt go along with my style, then I'll find another Main, and let Pit be my backup.

Of course, she has yet to be announced for SSBB. So among the announced stars... Metaknight or Samus-- maybe Wario for kicks.

However, I need a wider roster to choose from, as other posters have stated, before I make a real choice.

I'll try Meta and Pit and keep the one I like best, with the other one for backup. Put simply, I cheered out loud when I saw them in the first trailer, so you can guess I am pretty excited by the chance of playing them. Meta, for sheer awesome (go play Revenge of Meta Knight and then tell me he isn't. Come on, I'll wait) and Pit both for nostalgia (Kid Icarus being one of my first games) and badass factor (seriously, the guy accepted a quest to kill a demigod, with a defective bow whose arrows vanished barely six feet after shot as his only weapon... and he won. That takes some serious skill ).

But who knows, depending on further additions, I might have a harder time deciding, if they add more characters I like (come on, Midna!)

I'm definitely gonna master Metaknight simply because he's one of my all-time favorite Nintendo characters. Then I'm probably gonna move on to Wario, simply because I love the selfish *******.

I just played Melee earlier today (and will more tonight), and now that I think about it, I might actually stick to using Fox quite a bit, overwhelming speed won't give your opponents the chance to strike.

Out of the confirmed characters I'd say Pit just because he's a ninja with a bow for a projectile and I would like to see how his daggers/swords will work. If IC's make then them of course, and if Doc somehow makes it he will be second.

I think Metaknight and Pit look pretty broken. Expect them to be played a lot at tourneys.
Wario looks like he's at least high mid. But Waluigi is gonna be my main. Plus Falco if they don't screw him up. Lol.

If every character i want is in then Ephraim, definitley a fire emblem character though. After that a version of Link. After that pit. And a high tier character if none of those characters are high tier.
