It's a bit disheartening that this is the one piece of dialogue in this whole thread where people show sympathy with the designated n00b.
There's nothing inherently wrong with liking games because they have blood, but there's something not quite right about hating a game because it doesn't.

The same same way that some people don't like video games without killing something? I don't see why it's "not quite right" to dislike something, but I'm assuming you're insinuating that those who dislike the absence of violence have mental problems IRL. Observational studies haven't been able to suggest a concrete link, and most people who only enjoy those types of games don't carry their in-game actions over to real life.

I was typing that in a hurry, but fine. Either way, by disliking or hating a video game, it generally implies that you don't enjoy it for whatever reason. Yes, I would hate playing a video game that I don't enjoy. When somebody hates a video game, they usually mean they hate playing it, because playing is the only thing that most people can do to a video game. "Hate" describes a degree of dislike, that's how much more they dislike it: intense dislike. I'm sorry for not clarifying earlier; that person doesn't only dislikes SSBM, but he or she intensely dislikes it.

The fact remains that such an opinion doesn't contradict fact. What's wrong with somebody's "mindset" when they hate games that don't contain blood? They don't enjoy games without blood. It is fact that SSBM doesn't have blood. Some people play video games to simulate what can't be done in real life. I can understand if they favor the gory action of being able to shoot the living hell out of everything that they can't do in real life.

It's a natural thing to love or hate something. How do you stop yourself from hating something that you honestly hate? Lie to yourself? There are some things that one can grow to tolerate, but there are just some things that a person cannot.

It's also not a dumb statement either because it's true. Is it a dumb statement because...the person stated an honest opinion based on a fact?

A "wrong" opinion would be stating that he or she hates SSBM because he or she can't shoot others. By "wrong" I meant an opinion that contradicts fact.

Haha, that's probably how every non-Smash fan will see it as. It took Melee a while to be recognized by other fighting game communities. It does make for a good party game though, much better than the however many iteractions of Mario Party do.
