Well, we still call Smash 64 "Smash 64" to this day. Going back to such nomenclature after names like Melee and Brawl feels like a huge step back, however.

Exactly, it just doesn't feel right, it's the kind of title that just screams laziness at this point.

Seems like more of a trend nowadays for series to give their latest game simply the name of the series, unfortunately.

Since it's basically official that the titles are Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Super Smash Bros for 3DS, we can just call them "Smash Wii U" and "Smash 3DS" or as a whole "Smash 4" or "SSB4."

I don't know why this is such a big deal when we're just going to abbreviate them anyway.

Besides, what's bigger than a Melee or a Brawl?

There's literally no better title (except Universe, which is the only decent title I've heard.)
