It would be a bit pointless, I mean, you can't fly off much quicker than you do with 999%. Unless you die from a fireball or something. I don't see the point though.

unless you play Metal Melee with the damage ratio cranked down to 0.1;
seeing as those are speculation, who knows?

No one ever gets to 999% as it is. I don't think i've seen anyone break 400% ever in a legit match. There wouldn't really be a point to making it go higher.

Yeah the game doesnt ever go up to 999% anyways. It would be pretty much impossible in a legit game where both people were trying to win. That is, unless they start a Fox ditto and both blaster each other o.0
What I'd be more interested in is CPUs going past lvl 9.

What would be the point aside from the mandatory Over 9000 joke?

Good idea, but RS pretty much says it all, unless you are into more party-like battle.

on the other hand if you add point xxx.x then there would be more variation in damage dealing. thats always good.
more variations a choices=more ways to play the game.

If, for whatever reason, you exceed 999%, or just take damage at that point, you should immediately die. The death flash would just blaze where you are, and that would be it- next stock.

I have never seen a pro go past the 300-400% range in a match, so I don't see any reason why damage should go over 999%.

Some people might prefer to have significantly longer lives instead of playing with more lives. Honestly, I see no problem with apeasing that desire with something as easily changed as adding an extra digit to the damage indicator and allowing damage ratios to be scaled anywhere between .1 and 10.

That would be a cool idea.

fact:
around 600% you can kill with the first hit of marth's nair
& at 999% needles knock you half the way across fd
so I guess there'd be more scope for silly moves KOing

The new username store.
999% is the cap obviously, it only has room for 3 digits.

So if somthing magical or a glitch occured. The game would crash, and then the same thing that happens when you divide by 0.

Of course everyone knows what happens when you divide by 0...

(things start imploding all over the place, even air, space, and things build un-implodable)

Uh, wrong. The actual value is stored in an 16-bit unsigned integer. The true maximum value is actually in the neighborhood of 65500.

And even in the case of an overflow, the game would probably just throw the exception anyway.

Of course, thats all aside the point. This kind of change would be so obscenely easy to make that it isn't even funny.

As for the damage ratio, I'm pretty sure it just applies the multiplier to your current damage when doing the calculations for knockback velocities.

Unless they made a minigame an enclosed stage to see who can keep their damage lower than their opponents' then it wouldn't made sense.
