What do you think of this rule?

Death match ups do not have to take place on the first game in a set.

If the 2 characters are selected at the beginning of a set result in a death match up (75-25)or worse) the the player who chose the charcater that gets countered may choose a new character that goes 40-60 (or worse, if you like)with the opponents character.

I would like to use this rule because I hate starting out as DK and having my opponent play DDD and me automatically losing the first game in a set. I think it could work because you're not really getting an advantage. you're just getting a chance to fight back

This is why there are double blinds which don't have to rely on, pretty much, arbirtrary numbers.

it's how we quantify a real thing... even though it's kind of silly since people quantify things how they want to and the numbers mean different things to everyone.

that's why some unanimous ruling entity must generate the numbers AND tell us what they mean. it's the only way the masses can accept something, they have to GET ****ING TOLD!

yes i took matchup numbers/ matchup chart banter into this topic bc of pockyd

Matchups numbers are subjective, so if this were a rule, you'd have to come up with a specific list of matchups that this rule would apply to to make it happen. And then the community needs to approve, and so do TO's. I like the idea, but it's most likely not going to work out.

double blind doesn't solve the problem of death match ups on the first set. people are going to play who they main first game unless they know who they are playing in advance and the opponent doesn't and the opponents character has a death match up.

IMO double blind does not solve anything

and to twentytwo there are defined match ups where 1 thing completely lets a character win. there could be someone in the back room to decide what is and isn't. but I would like more serious consideration

DDD vs. who he can infinite/small step
Fox vs. ZSS, Sheik, Pika
DK vs. ness/lucas
Marth vs. ness/lucas

I forget the others, but ganon would have to be different because chosing to main ganon would get you no where

i once again think the best solution is to ban these bad characters that have 'unwinnable' matchups so that people will stop complaining about them and just realize that a bad character is a bad character

Double Blind doesn't do anything if you're known in the community or at least by that player.

That being said, why not just have your TO ban the small step/infinites like the Beast Coast so that DDD vs. DK is only 6-4 DDD

because that doesn't solve the problem with fox, ness,Rob, or lucas

Ness and Lucas no longer get infinited by Marth, they need to know how to EIDI. I don't know if they can do that to DK as well.

Fox is an entire different issue, that I don't know how to approach right now.

Yeah it does. The guy is screwed over if you pick your secondary.

Here's a better idea:

If your opponent chose a counter that gives them an 75:25 advantage or worse, you can pick another character that does no better than 50:50 against your opponent's first pick.

The Back Room wouldn't even approve this. :sonic:

I can't tell if this is sarcasm because its poorly written.

my idea at least makes sense

If you do this it's just gonna cause the individual character boards to tone down their matchup rankings and make everyone 70-30 whos unwinnable lol.
