I'm annoyed by all the people ignorantly saying that Cloud has never been on a nintendo console. Granted it was a cameo on a GBA game.,,.

Is It really that bad that Cloud isn't a nintendo character? Finally snake isn't a nintendo character, too. But he'll be added. I think that Cloud would be great for ssbb.

I love Cloud, don't get me wrong. And the Final Fantasy series are up there in the Top 5 Game Series of All Time list for me, but I don't see it happening.
And honestly, I'd be disappointed. While I love Final Fantasy I don't see any of it's characters making it's way into Brawl. That would be disastrous.

GBA isnt a console. its a handheld. but nitpicking aside i agree (except it was just a cameo)
snake was also begged to be in. i was hoping the fact that Nobuo Uematsu is working with brawl music would help but i dunno. Cloud's omnislash as an assist trophy might pwn though
everything was good until the "disastrous" part. does anyone else here think theres a cloud/link rivalry or is it just me and those stupid cloud fanboys at gamefaqs?
SIDE NOTE: is FF9 any good? i currently own FF7 & 8 PC versions and wanna buy FF9?
also does anyone know is FF9 works on bleem (bleem being one of the only two commercially legal PSX emulators that went out of business in 2002) ?
omg you are THE MAN. another bleem user YESS. i knew 7 & 8 worked and hoped 9 would but they never got around to releasing a latest compatibility list. i figured i was lucky enough that Crash Bash worked perfect and crash 1,2,3 worked so i figured 9 had to work.
oh but on topic: yeah braver would be a better choice. i just figured omnislash would be cool if cloud was an insta-pwn type of assistant (assuming of course he makes it to AT which is still not too likely)

Cloud's not as gangsta as Mario, therefore I don't want him in.
that is probably true i still would want cloud and or a kh character in Brawl

as much as i think cloud is an awesome idea, im gonna have to say that if any characters make it from Final Fantasy it would be generic characters i.e. black mage, white mage, etc.

I can't take Cloud seriously since he doesn't have any chance of making it. If only he had like 8 more solid nintendo titles...
I think what makes that even more awesome is how completey impossible it is.
You guys are just dumping the idea because of assumptions and theories. Who knows if it's possible? Even if it isn't, it's interesting to think about.

I would love for Cloud to be in Brawl even for that tiny Chain Of Memories cameo, I don't have him in my sig because his chances are not high.
Well I mean like, when people say the popularity, main character, and icon theories, they take that as almost fact. Same with characters from even the smallest cameo, you never know. They could put on his trophy "First appearance (on a Nintendo system): GBA" or something similar, who knows.
This is more than just some weak theory. This is "he was barely even on a nintendo console."

Cloud I feel would be too much like Ike even if he were put in the game. Plus that just makes no sense. I mean sure, he is probably the most popular Square-Enix character ever but he has no affiliation with Nintendo at all. At least Metal Gear Solid was remade for the gamecube...

Cloud has done nothing to deserve being in Brawl, he wasn't even close to being anything but a minor supporting character in Chain of Memories.

My opinion on Cloud hasn't changed. He would be nice and all, but he was barely on a Nintendo console at all.
VI and VII were the best Final Fantasy games. Only the former was on a Nintendo console... so one of VI's characters should be in, if any. Well, or Chrono, of course.

Almost anything Cloud can do, pretty much is already supplemented by characters like Ike and Link. Putting in Cloud is largely unnecessary and not going to happen anyway.

Fun fact: When a character created a stereotype, it can't possibly be an example of the stereotype being overused, because it's the first of its kind.
People only started mocking Cloud when every RPG started copying him.

What, so your judgment of the character is based on what they can do in battle or something?

Yes, he was the first RPG character to be like how he was, but the "angsty warrior with amnesia" thing most certainly didn't begin with Cloud. All Cloud did was bring that generic character archtype to a new medium.
Because Cloud was the first RPG character to EVER to do magic, use a sword, and summon gods. Nope, haven't seen that in every preceding FF game...>_>

As much as it pains me to say this...I do not want Cloud in SSBB:
1. The thought of Cloud being beaten by the likes of Pikachu, Yoshi, and THE ICE CLIMBERS doesn't suit me well.
2. Putting Cloud in brawl would mean yet another male swordsman joins the fray. Not like we have enough of those already (Link, Pit, Ike, possibly Ganondorf, more?)
3. Cloud just doesn't fit the SSBB aura. He's a Playstation character that has appeared in very few nintendo games. He's within the Final Fantasy series and doesn't really fit the archetype of a typical brawl character. You could argue that he'd make for a good third party character, but you'd be wrong.
4. Megaman, Bomberman, Rayman, and the multitude of other 3rd party candidates that'd better fit SSBB.
It's a nice idea, but please-Cloud should get his own version of brawl. How sweet would an all FF brawl-esk game be?
