**** it. This is a terrible, if not totally unexpected, decision by Nintendo =\ Come on, you could have a ranked AND an unranked mode for With Anyone, but Nintendo hates competition, apparently. It's not even about being better than someone else and proving it with a record, but making sure newbs can fight newbs and pros fight pros. I'd rather not be stuck fighting what seems like five year-olds all day when looking for a challenge.

So, Special Brawl and Team Battle confirmed...
However, it looks like "With Anyone" Will NOT allow 1 v 1 play, unless no-one else connects for players 3 and 4 in the time limit (look at the top) - which I doubt, since this will be a very popular online game. Hopefully, you can request to add your opponents in With Anyone mode...

Yeah, in fact, you can pick any competitive WFC game and it will be like that, you'll even know the name and ranking of most of the people you're playing. Why so much protection? This game will be rated T for teen again, right?

finally its confirmed, im curious what the other online modes are im hoping that 2 players can play online together like in smash football. and i love that if you play a random match no score is aquired that means that noone wil start running like a baby everytime ill kick there ***.

i just dont like one thing, if you see the screenshot here below. you see that under there picture with procent it says there name like samus and mario. why wont they put your name in there like shodan

Amazing 100th update! I'm psyched about Wi-Fi connection for battles and even more features. I really hope though there's more customization than he showed: more icons, more choice besides characters and stage (items on/off). Also i love how there's at least 5 letter names online. I can't even BEGIN to say enough about this update!

Wifi for Brawl was unavoidable, but the problem was how.

online gaming is today standard and wii know Nintendo hates today standards unless it was there idea. (analogstick, rumble etc)
Implent online feature in a game is not that hard, any software designers can do and with a little research they will know vast majority wants online raking or at least not want to fight random "noob".

Know SSBM is the game held with the most tournaments of all time. I migth be wrong and maybe Street Fighter have more then SSBM. But mind, Street Fighter release a new sequel almost every year, you can't even say which is the latetst but SSBM lasted for 6 years and competition keep ongoing till December the 3th.

Yes, online will save us a lot travel costs and time, but what you get in return is priceless, right?
You see new places, some is there first time flying, meet new peeps , punch your opponent if you cannot beat ingame and what have you.
Sakuari make it online just pure fun, they emphasize the multi-player part and let us to compete in real life!

If you gauge Sakurai's wording, he seems a bit regretful maybe. It will cause a good deal of lag in certain sections, that's for sure, and your know that standard tournies are going to have to convine in the same manner as they always have, but still, this is good news. Now I have to figure out how to get my Wii to use Wi-Fi in my dorm. ;_;
