I just recelntly played a pretty good Ike and it seemed like a pretty tough match up. The good range and power with the airs and smashes were annoying and the A tap combo would always stop me from getting in attacks.

It might just be how i play, but any solid advice on fighting Ike?

First things first, was this on wifi?

If not we have a whole thread dedicated to match ups.

Virtually all of Marth's moves are faster than Ike's. The only place that Ike really has an advantage is in the power behind his moves.

The best strategy is to be defensively offensive, if that makes any sense. Basically, you need to concentrate on your opponents movements. Stay just out of reach of Ike's sword, and move in for an attack only when it's safe to do so, such as right after Ike attacks with a slower attack.

Marth's speed is his best asset, and so long as you make effective use of it you shouldn't have too much trouble against slower opponents like Ike.

Like everyone else said...Marth is not good at all on wifi. His potential is literally cut in half and his priority is also reduced. Which is one of his best traits.

powerfull (SLOOOOOOW) enemy attacks+counter=:)
Ive tried that once, problem is his attacks are soooo slow that they hit after the counter will work. Or they will just charge their smash and your ko'd. I never found countering that safe on Ike.

everyone saying Marth is bad on Wi-fi are right. But if you really want to beat him zandervm's on the previous post had some good advice. Stay outside his sword range, and wait for him to attack and thats when you punish him. Rushing with f-air or DB is good if you arent predictable with it.

...priority is not reduced where did you get that idea? Marth just sux on wifi b/c lag just scrws spacing and buffering which is the reason I suck with him on wifi at least.

Anyway just wondering who was the Ike? Has he/she (the player) put up any vids of his/her Ike (asking out of curiosity)?

Btw If you want cheapness against Ike, here's my equivalent of a one-word answer to an essay question. Dancing blade. simple as that.

When you play on wifi sometimes you get button input lag...(well you always do to some extent)

This throws off your timing and therefore your priority, because obviously, your moves start when you press the button activating it.

What I mean is that after playing offline you know when you can use a fair to make it hit a metaknight, but on wifi you always get beaten because your use the fair a little too late.
