After wondering what the big deal was about Fox's voice, I took a listen to it myself.
...
Oh man, it's pretty bad. "FYE-ERRRRRR" It feels weird looking at Fox's model (which is essentially the same one from Brawl) and hearing a different voice attached to it. Say what you will about Brawl's Fox, but the voice at least matched him more than it does now.
I don't care for Roger-Craig Smith's Sonic either. Jason did a much better job in my opinion. The current one sounds way too cartoonish and lacks the relaxed "fun" tone of the previous one.
I don't mind Greninja's noises much at all, thankfully.

With the way things are going now in terms of voice acting, I wonder what Snake's voice would've been like had he been confirmed. Would Hayter have reprised the role or would Sutherland have taken the role of Solid Snake as well (assuming it WOULD be Solid Snake)?

I'm loving the voice acting in SSB4 so far, which is a nice change considering I disliked quite a bit of Brawl's voice work. Pit sounds much better than Brawl, probably because I love his voice in Uprising. Robin and Lucina are perfect, and Shulk's VA gives great renditions of a lot of his Xenoblade lines (And yes the in-battle banter in XC is absolutely overwhelming - they never shut up). No real opinion of Sonic or Fox, since I haven't played their games. They sound okay to me, though.

Greninja's scream is really aggravating, but it's about the only thing that bugs me so far.

I'll also go on the record as one of the few people who would like an English voice for Marth, or at least the option for one. Marth's been playable in two localized FE games now; I feel he deserves to be understood in SSB. I'm concerned about Ike's VA as well, since Jason Adkins' stuff from Brawl was pretty awful. Jason's VA work was good in FE9/10, so I'm hoping Brawl was just the result of bad direction and that he returns with a better performance this time.

I'm so sad Ted Lewis isn't voicing Dedede.

I know Sakurai created Dedede, but I hate his take on his voice.
It's too deep. It doesn't fit the cartoony, lightheartedness of Kirby.

I wished that Bowser, DK and Diddy Kong got their cartoony voices (like from their games), but that's not happening. :(

Personally I'm really liking the voice acting so far. As of the latest trailer I think my favourite is probably Shulk. It's quite refreshing to hear a Japanese-style character speaking in anything other than an American accent in a dub, let alone Shulk's glorious Cockney accent.

Her current voice actress is Laura Faye Smith, who's voiced her since 3D World. And yes, she's had 2 different people voice her prior.

Soon we'll find out the entire voice cast! Who reprised their roles and who got recycled.

maybe Ness will finally be able to pronounce "flash" this time
And "thunder". I swear he says "sunder" in at least Brawl. Haven't played Melee or 64 for a while, so I don't know how it was then, but I can't see it having been much better. I get that the Japanese VA is probably doing their best and I respect that, but it would be nice to hear Ness pronounce his words properly.

well heres the kicker.....Kirby and Ness share the same VA, and kirby seems to say flash just fine (and super cute too) guess Ness just has a hardcore american accent or somthing along those lines haha

That would make sense since he comes from a world heavily based on America. I'm not really familiar with American accents, but are there any accents with common speech quirks like Ness'?

Eh, I really like Sakurai ' s take on DeDeDe.
It shows his serious and ready to battle side while still goofy enough to show his funny side. Besides he always had that deep gruff voice. (At least after Brawl )

Let me be honest on Sonic's voice situation. Alot of Sonic fans make a big deal over voices, but I am fine with all of his voices, and I frankly don't care who voices him. If it's Steve Urkel or Chris Redifield coming out of Sonic's mouth, I wouldn't care. Sonic's voice is nothing to debate over in my opinion.

I absolutely love the new voice clips of Pit and Kirby, I agree with most people that Fox's sounds pretty weird but I'll probably get used to it, I'm excited to hear other new voice clips, on a side note Arceus' voice is pretty funny imo, also I like Sonics new voice as well but "You're too slow!!" will be missed~

It's worth noting that DK was originally going to have his DK64 voice in 64 and Melee.

I hate how Bowser still uses his Mario Kart 64 T-rex roars.
Edit:
Laura Faye Smith (SM3DW, MK8) sounds as good as Mercedes Rose (Galaxy games, MKWii) to me, but she didn't have an echo in those two games, while the other two have had echoes. I don't like Kerri Kane (MK7, Mario Golf), though. To be blunt, she makes her sound like a smoking hooker one second, and like a Peach clone the next, with the odd passable voice clip in between.

And some of Sonic's lines are from cutscenes in Generations.
Laura Faye Smith voiced some lines in World Tour.

Is that so? I would've liked that a lot more than his realistic voice.

Reportedly, the man who had voiced DK in 64 was requested permission by Nintendo to reuse his voice clips for Melee, but Sakurai(iirc) shot the idea down in favor of realism.

I wonder if they've redone ZSS's voice clips or not? In the E3 demo, they were the exact same ones from Brawl.

I preferred his angry southerner voice.
I just feel it really captured his personality.

Late, but Falco's Japanese voice sound just like his Melee voice where you'd hear "FOOYAH" for Fire Bird. Fox's English voice is apparently Mike West reprising his role as an homage to the remake of Star Fox 64, but guess what? West's voice isn't that horribly high-pitched since if that video's right, then Fox has the most annoying voice ever.

Sonic's English voice is actually ripped from Generations and another game which is pretty bad since it might not feel like it's within context. Imagine ripping "Hit" from the full sentence of "What kind of hit was that?". It'd sound so strange.

Snake's an issue since he's a composite character who's mostly Solid Snake, assuming it's mostly Snake over Big Boss, it'd be David Hayter since Keifer Sutherland's (older) Big Boss while Richard Doyle is senior Big Boss. Seeing how characters are getting ripped and reused voice clips, I'd expect Snake's voice to be reused entirely.

Also, apparently, Bowser's voice is ripped from Mario Kart 64. Reused voice clips from 1996. Yeah...

Zero Suit Samus's Japanese voice, assuming it's her Japanese voice and that she has one and isn't like Marth who only has one language option, sounds like her Brawl voice, but her talking voice, I never heard. That's kind of weird, but it's been done before where the fighting voice is different from the talking voice e.g. Tekken games.

As a person who appreciates voice actors' and actresses' work, I'm disappointed. It'd be nice to get an update and have characters with voices matching their latest appearance if it fits. Skyward Sword Link's VA, Takashi Ohara, would have been fine and Demise's VA was Takashi Nagasako, the man who voiced Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker. it'd be a nice throwback. Then there's Bowser, Diddy, and DK sounding like regular animals or monsters instead of their cartoony voice. It might not matter as much for Diddy or DK - every time I hear Diddy or "monkey noise" I think of Zant due to Hyrule Warriors and Bruce Lee -, but it does for Bowser since most of his appearances use a cartoony voice.

Whatever. Maybe people will make a petition or something. Voice pack DLC?

Yeah, I realize now that Snake would've had reused voice clips. At the time I posted that, I had no idea voice clips were just recycled from Brawl and only a few veterans had some new voiceovers done. I also had no idea that Sonic's lines were ripped from his other games either. It's pretty disappointing how much of the cast has the same sounds or, in the case with characters like Sonic and Fox, actually have worse voices. I have some hopes for the Wii U being more of an upgrade in that regard but it's fanciful thinking at best. Oh well, I guess.

Maybe it's because I have a really high tolerance when it comes to how much I stand in voice acting. None of the voices from the English version have bothered in any real way. Bowser, DK, Diddy's animalistic sounds don't really bother me very much and Fox's new voice doesn't really irk me much.

I kept getting my post in the now deleted Bowser's Voice thread liked weeks after I said it for that reason.

Kenny James is just that good.
Even then, I really don't mind Bowser's Sunshine voice that much. Yeah, he sounded like Tom & Jerry's Spike the dog, but that's more or less who he was in that game.

In some quotes from 64, he sounds even higher pitched (such as "Can anyone take care of it?")
