Tbh this is one of my favorite things from Smash 4 so far.Greninja's voice actually doesn't bother me all that much. His FS is cool, especially. "Gre-NIN JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!" I
I would hope Marth continues to speak Japanese, and Lucario got a new VA?I just wish Nintendo would stick with a direction for Starfox in general. Is it supposed to be goofy and over-exaggerated or serious and dramatic? Doesn't help that I'm more familiar with Assault Fox over 64 Fox.
I'm pretty curious on how Marth and Ike will be handled this time around. Now that he has a game in America, will Marth finally speak English? Will Jason Adkins reprise Ike or will they pick up a more suitable actor? Or will they just re-use Brawl clips?
Also looking forward to Schemmel's Lucario, as I never saw the Pokemon movie he was in.
Probably because I haven't played Uprising yet, I think he sounds just more like an annoying brat now. Besides, he has no reason to yell hiyayayayayaya any more.In general I can describe most of the voice work as acceptable. Nothing I've heard so far grates me like some of the voicework in Brawl did.
Pit's is definitely the biggest improvement for a Veteren, his voice in Brawl was irriating to listen to establish when you fought a person who decided spamming the Side-B constantly was funny. Hiyayayayaya! Hiyayayayaya! Hiyayayayaya! Argh...
Please no. Spike Spencer (voiced him in the anime) can NOT compete with Hikaru Midorikawa. Anything less than Midorikawa is unacceptable.I know Marth's voice was recycled. Hopefully they'll give him an English voiceover this time.![]()
Lucina and Robin were dubbed into English, Marth wasn't. For more defense, Marth's design is now based on Heroes of Light and Shadow, which didn't make it to the English world (fanpatch aside). It would be weird if Lucina and Robin spoke English, but Marth didn't. If they do get Spike back, I'm sure they'll modify the way he portrayed him in the movie. I doubt ADV anticipated Smash back in the day.
They need to get him some new voice clips, regardless of language.
This is what I assume, as well. I think we'll hear a few of them changed. For example, when the Wii Fit Trainer trailer was first recorded, they didn't have a VA for the English video, and instead just used clips from Wii Fit Plus. It's all a work-in-progress, and I'd assume they would have voice acting done by May for the absolute latest.Of course, some characters had reused voice clips as Brawl, which means they could be different in the final game. If they added an option to switch between English and Japanese voices, it would be a win-win situation for everyone. Especially if it could be done individually per character like some fighting games do.
He's more or less suppose to be kid like one way or another. The JPN version is even more high pitched and kid like then even the English voice is. I enjoyed how he sounded in uprising and he sounds a bit more nature awhile the Brawl voice was definitely a felt a bit more forced and exterggrated in my view anyway.Probably because I haven't played Uprising yet, I think he sounds just more like an annoying brat now. Antony Del Rio's 'HYAAAAAAAAUGH's when Pit dies are the best thing ever.Since no one else is throwing it out there, I think Pit's voice just REALLY stands out the most and it is AMAZINGLY well done. Also I love Fox's voice, it highly reminds me of StarFox64. I really love Kirby's too, but Pit's... It's just a work of art. xDDD
Ew, DK's goofy voice is the best thing ever.I was actually really hoping they would RAWR instead of using their new goofy voices from Mario Kart.
Yeah I thought it was weird she was just saying random yoga phrases during battle but her voice is much better nowThis is what I assume, as well. I think we'll hear a few of them changed. Yea, I agree on that point. But I guess it's because I'm only learning Japanese, not a native speaker, that regardless of voice pitch, he doesn't sound like a brat, he just sounds like a kid to me.He's more or less suppose to be kid like one way or another. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the Japanese VA for Little Mac. It sounds a TAD bit deep for a 17 year old boxer of his stature, but it sounds good for what it is. I do hope it's a placeholder for the English VA however (that is, if they have an English VA). I would love to hear Matt Hardy reprise his role as Little Mac (he supplied the grunts and the like in the Wii game).....As for Little Mac, he's definitely got VA work. His voice is surprisingly deep for someone so small....
I haven't been able to find the VA for the Japanese version of Punch-Out Wii... given how many of the other boxers kept their language I wouldn't be surprised if Little Mac was left VA'd by Matty Hardy even in JPN. The only JPN VA for little mac I can find is Hisao Egawa who voiced the trophy in Brawl but it didn't sound like him either.I wouldn't be surprised if that was the Japanese VA for Little Mac. The KO scream could be Matt Harty but it's kind of hard to tell since Punch Out Wii didn't have a sound drawn out sound effect like the Star KO. Couldn't make out the Yeah at all through the background nose unforunately. There's one clip where you can hear Mac say "Yeah!" after he counters. It sounds a bit like Matt Harty, but it's still unclear.
His Star KO scream can be heard in this one.
In this game specifically, there seems to be an emphasis on character expressions such as the new screen splats, VA etc.I don't always, or even often, agree with him, but a while back Yahtzee made the point that something fighting games excel at is giving you a really quick indicators into their characters' personalities. Since fighting games usually don't have super involved stories, they need to be able to communicate who these characters are simply with the way they move and the noises and speech blurbs they burt out in battle. I think he brought this up to illustrate why Joker and Harley are the MVPs of the Injustice roster.
I agree 100%. One non-Smash example I really like is Phoenix shouting "I can't control it!" before unleashing a super in MvC3, just speaks volumes about what her deal is without you ever needing to read a comic book.
And since Smash is such a huge hodgepodge of competing personalities, they've always been really good at this as well, and they only get more detailed with each game. Based on the little we've been able to hear in the demo and such, I think they're really nailing it. It's one of my favorite aspects of Smash in general, and I can't wait to see what other small touches they've added.
Technically Lucario got an old VA. Sean Schemmel voiced him in the 8th(?) Pokemon movie, but wasn't able to voice him for Brawl for some reason or another, instead being voiced by Bill Rogers. From what I've heard though, Schemmel tweeted that he'd be back to voice Lucario this time around.I would hope Marth continues to speak Japanese, and Lucario got a new VA?
I don't ever remember Sonic saying these things in Generations lol, but maybe I overlooked it. And about Rosalina... I think she sounds good regardless but I don't remember how she sounds in Galaxy compared to MK8 and 3DWPit and Kirby sound excellent as expected.
Sonic is one I have mixed opinions on. I like Roger Craig Smith a lot, and he sounded fine in Generations, but I was hoping for brand new voice clips. I hope they are placeholders, especially since I do genuinely want to hear "You're Too Slow!" from Roger in the game.
There seems to be confusion/debate over whether or not Rosalina has re-used clips of Kerri Kane (from MK7. Her clips were also re-used in Mario Golf: World Tour) in the E3 demo, or if she has new clips by Laura Faye Smith (her voice actress in 3D World and MK8), only with an echo this time (Laura's voice clips for Rosalina didn't have an omni-echo like Mercedes Rose and Kerri Kane had). It sounds like Laura to me though, and she sounds fine from what little I can hear (unfortunately, the only one I can remotely make out is her exaggerated pain scream after being K.O'd). I'm kinda anxious though, I really don't like Kerri Kane's portrayal of Rosalina, so I hope it's Laura.
Oh well that's disappointing,Laura Faye Smith (SM3DW, MK8) sounds as good as Mercedes Rose (Galaxy games, MKWii) to me, but she didn't have an echo in those two games, while the other two have had echoes. I don't like Kerri Kane (MK7, Mario Golf), though. To be blunt, she makes her sound like a smoking hooker one second, and like a Peach clone the next, with the odd passable voice clip in between.
And some of Sonic's lines are from cutscenes in Generations.
Are you serious? Pit's Japanese voice sucks compared to the awesome English one.If there's no Japanese language option, I'm probably never going to use Greninjajajaja or Pit.
