What is the general opinion on the voice acting displayed this far? I'm actually really loving it, like when the Female Wii fit trainer says "Salute the sun!" For her standard special or "Super Sonic Speed!" Haha

Btw, is there a video where we can clearly hear the Male Wii Fit Trainers voice?

I have a bad feeling that WFT's voice acting will get annoying after a while. Also, after seeing his trailer, I wonder if Robin will say his attack name every time like he does in his gameplay video.

Given Bowser's more mainline Mario design and DK's goofy expressions, I was hoping they'd have their voices from their respective series.
Maybe it's just the demo and they didn't record all of the new voices yet (they got some new voices like Kirby and Fox, but not all of them have been updated yet).

Hopefully Kenny James is Bowser's voice actor this time around! :bowsermelee::bowser2::4bowser:

Awnsering to the OP, the background noise in the gameplay videos was too loud for me to listen well to the voices.
The ones I heard, however, like Kirby's, are awsome.

I for one would prefer a Bowser voice like the one he has in the Mario & Luigi RPGs, it gives him much more character in my opinion and makes him sound less like godzilla! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmO0ma9uJpE
I REALLY do hope Kenny James voices Bowser this time around. He has done a VERY good job at voicing Bowser ever since Super Mario Strikers.
A lot of characters have reused voice clips from brawl which I feel is a result of this being an old build. Foxes voice is a nerf, but other than that its fine. :)
I agree. I think it's just an older build. That being said, I REALLY do hope they update the voices a bit for several characters like Bowser (as you could already tell ).

Kirby's was VERY good in my opinion. It kinda reminds me of the Triple Deluxe voice acting a bit for some reason (while Relax Alax says that Kirby's voice reminds him of the N64 Kirby [or something to that effect {don't know if he means Crystal Shards Kirby, Smash 64 Kirby, or both}]). Anyways, I REALLY like Kirby's voice this time around.

If you listen closely to one of the e3 tree house videos you can hear villager say "thanks nook" during her final smash. It's the match in Skyloft with Pit, Mario, and female villager. It may be day two. I can't pull up the video right now.

Kirby's is very good as well, Sonic as well, he got some new lines which fit his character a lot more since he isn't a last minute addition.

Everyone seems to agree Fox sounds too nasally.

I don't really mind Bowser and DK's animalistic sounds.

I've heard Sonic lost his "You're too slow" taunt. I'll miss that one.

Maybe the voices in the E3 demo build were indeed just placeholders, because some voices just seemed to be ported directly from Brawl, whereas the new characters and a select few who got voice actor replacements(Pit, Sonic, Fox), and Kirby for some reason, had their voices at a seemingly higher and better moderated volume than the others. Very much loving Pit, Kirby, and Sonic's new clips, by the way!

It seems to be very apparent in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObwJHTr8CBU

Pit, Rosalina, and Greninja are just a whole lot more audible than Zelda, who seems to have just had all of her voice clips ported over from Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Let's hope the voices for many of the veterans were just placeholders for the demo!

(I posted almost this exact thing in another voice acting thread. I just copy-pasted out of laziness, xD.)

Since no one else is throwing it out there, I think Pit's voice just REALLY stands out the most and it is AMAZINGLY well done. Also I love Fox's voice, it highly reminds me of StarFox64. I really love Kirby's too, but Pit's... It's just a work of art. xDDD

I know Marth's voice was recycled. Hopefully they'll give him an English voiceover this time. :p

Hey, I think Pit's voice is fantastic, too!
The noises he makes when he is knocked away are so hilarious and full of personality!

Yeah, I think the same as crazyhandmasterhand. Most of the ones shown are placeholders. Pit, Sonic, and Kirby's new clips are awesome. DK and Bowser should've got new, cartoony clips, but oh well. I saw some E3 gameplay videos, and noticed that Zero Suit Samus still has the same Brawl voice clips. Hopefully they change it.

It's middle-of-the-road for me. I think some of the newcomers, like Greninja, Rosalina, and Little Mac, sound just fine. Wii Fit Trainer is pretty annoying, though, and Robin and Palutena will also be really annoying if they actually call out their attacks. A lot of the veteran's voices have been mishandled, in my opinion. Kirby sounds fantastic now, but Fox is way too nasally (albeit closer to his SF64 voice), DK* and Bowser* still sound generic (so Diddy likely will too), and Pit's voice is one of the most grating things I've ever heard. He sounds like a dying chicken. Also not much of a fan of Roger Craig Smith's Sonic to begin with, and the fact that his inclusion was accompanied by the loss of "You're too slow" poured salt in the wounds.

*Hoping these are just placeholders until new clips can be recorded/added.

Pit's voice is my favourite. Even his cries of pain are awesome.

But there is way too much Fox voice hate. I love his new one! Bring on the change!

Greninja hasn't appeared in the anime yet so I don't know what to listen for. I didn't even know he had a voice until I watched a recent gameplay match where someone USED THEIR BRAIN AND HAD AN ACTUAL ****ING MICROPHONE TO RECORD THE MATCHES! They had a microphone stand right underneath the TV and got the direct audio. They deserve an award. Audio is just as important as video but that is always forgotten.

It's like they can't have a voice for Pit that doesn't make me want to rip his wings off.

Agreed with the sentiments about Bowser's voice. He has an amazing voice and growls in every single Nintendo game except Smash Bros. In Brawl and Melee he sounds like a generic dinosaur, and I don't like that. He needs to sound like Bowser, not random dinosaur.

I love Pit and Kirby's new voice. The rest of the vets I couldn't even hear, so here's hoping they redo their voices as well. Rosalina sounds great. Greninja gets on my nerves. Badly. I would almost rather he just made grunts and stuff rather than saying "gre!" or "ninja!" all the time.

It seems Mike West is voicing Fox in this game. He voiced him in Star Fox 64 as well as 64 3D.

By the way, has anyone figured out who's voicing Little Mac? They got Doc Louis's voice actor back, so I would assume that Matt Harty would reprise the role. But I can't make out Mac's voice in any gameplay clips.

I too believe some voices are just placeholders since its the demo. Because they sound too similar to Brawl, if not the same. That means there is still hope for showtime Bowser and and Scooby DK.
As for the newcomers, so far so good. Most of them don't talk anyway.

Gotta love Anthony Del Rio's work for Pit, especially since it's all new clips.

Pretty sure Mac's a mute. Didn't talk much in PO Wii either, besides the Giga Mac snarls.

I don't really post in forums because people always get into fights or I just read on and don't really 'speculate' as others do, but I really love this thread as of now to hear what everyone is saying on voice acting. I will cry if King DeDeDe gets his Kirby right back at cha' voice, lol I main him so the moment he was announced I knew that design and got sooo hyped up. Lol

Another thing I like is how no one's really bashing anyone elses opinion. Back on topic though, I never really noticed sonic's voice... hmmm... I did hear him say that one thing for his final smash which sounded so awesome. As for fox's voice, I can see why people dislike it because I did as well, until I noticed how much star fox 64 he sounded. Pit's was out of this world amazing, just in case no one seen that post x]. Kirby's is fine as well, but as for bowser and donkey kong (I main them as well, dk being priority) I really hope they get voices to match their emotions/personality, considering Sakurai is adding in character details this time around.

If I'm not mistaken, they have Pit's voice actor from Uprising which is amazing. I didn't get a chance to play him in the demo, but I am really looking forward to hearing him. Hopefully he has some dialogue with Palutena or Viridi (and maybe even Hades if we're lucky ) in some codec style events in the KI levels.

Yeah! His voice is surprisingly REALLY high pitched, but he does indeed sound like a pokemon. I'm not disappointed with his voice acting at all. ^_^ As for Rosalina... well, she just sounds like Rosalina. Lol Galaxy version though, where she is completely nonchalant as Sakurai stated. (or something along those lines) MK8 Rosalina's voice was really good, but it fits her character more in SSB4.

I think monotone is the word you're looking for, also if you listen to Froakie and Frogadier in the anime, Greninja is on par with those

As for Fox, apparently that's his Star Fox 64 voice actor. Pit's is his VA from Uprising, which I like.

Greninja's voice actually doesn't bother me all that much. His FS is cool, especially. "Gre-NIN JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!" I've heard it's actually the VA who does Froakie in the anime, so that's a thing.

As for Little Mac, he's definitely got VA work. His voice is surprisingly deep for someone so small.

I'm gonna love it if Robin really does call his spells as he casts them. Calling Your Attacks is fun! (But then again, I'm a Tales fan.)

All of Sonic's voice clips so far are recycled from Sonic Generations. Side taunt is "Sonic speed!", while down taunt is "Come on!" (Personally, I wish they'd used "Aw, couldn't keep up?" for side taunt and "That was pretty fun!" for down taunt, but oh well.) I like his FS quote: "Super Sonic style!"

I was actually really hoping they would RAWR instead of using their new goofy voices from Mario Kart.
Bowser's voice in SM3DW sounded legit, on the other hand... I do main Bowser in MK8 then kinda do sound the same. I can see what you mean though, imagine how it'll be like if we got a mixture of something in between. Lol
