Hello all.

I don't come around these parts often, so I guess I'll introduce myself to the people who aren't accustomed to my name. I'm Virgilijus, but you can just call me Virg, and I'm an admin on this site. I like adventure games and I like creating them more than I like playing them, oddly enough. And the reason why I'm posting this is because I've got two potential games on my plate that I am making and I wanted to see which one would gather more interest and focus on that one. So, without further ado, here are the games.

Know Your Enemy

The game is simple, but there are some requirements. The main requirement is that the vast majority of people who play the game know each other. You can have a total stranger or newbie, but it'll make it a little difficult. Now, here is the concept of the game:

Every one, with my admin help and approval, will be allowed to create and alternate account that can, under no circumstances whatsoever, be used to post outside of the thread. You do and you're gone and other punishment. Serious stuff, this alt account business. How you want to name and decorate your account is up to you. Once every one has their account, I will randomly pick and order that will remain the order for the first round. Whoever is first will take ONE question each from all of the other contestants on their alt accounts. They can ask whatever they want but the person answering MUST answer; they cannot say I don't know or refuse. If it's something they don't know, they must make up a lie. After every one has asked, we move onto the next person being the one questioned and so on and so on until every one has had their turn int he hot seat. The first round is over and every one, after mulling it over, sends me their list of who they think is in control of which alt account (note: you will know who is playing the game before hand, just not which account is being used by them). I count them all up and, whoever has the least amount correct is kicked out of the game. With them removed, Round 2 begins. If some one ever has every alt account and player matched up correctly, they win the game. Play as many rounds until that happens.

The other game.

The SWF Hunger Games

All contestants will be paired up and thrown into a metaphorical arena to fight to the death. People will have to make choices of when to risk injury for reward and who to partner up with and if they should betray them. By playing up to the crowd, they can be given rewards from the audience, so action and drama not only entertain but can help you win. The last one alive wins... meaning at some point your partner will need to die by your hands or some one elses.

The rules for this game are still in progress, but I am confident they will be ironed out sufficiently.

So, any interest in either of these games?

Hydra accounts already don't have access to anything outside of DGames.

Not particularly interested in either, tbqh, but good luck.

Both sound fun; I'm interested in the Know Your Enemy.

Hunger Games seems like a great idea, except for the collectively known fact that there can be only one winner.
If I'm not mistaken, a major premise in the book is that Peter and Katniss eventually give up on the idea of trying to achieve their own win conditions (they want to die and let the other survive) and even break the game itself on more than one occasion.
Escaping from book meta, it seems awfully similar to the concept of a mafia game with everyone having survivor win conditions on top of factions. Having personally played such a game on another site, the beginning was fine, but the ending was just gruesome and the game seriously stagnated due to everyone resorting to isolation and an individual fight to the finish. If there was some device in the game to mitigate this, then I think it would be enjoyable.

The Hunger Games DG wouldn't be strictly analogous to a mafia game; I am imagining it taking place on a publicly posted board/grid, so movement would be involved.

Similar to the book, if the game grew stagnant, the 'game makers' will add restrictions forcing conflict.

I'd prefer the Hunger Games idea, know your enemy doesn't sound that interesting to me.

I think more details on both would be helpful. The Hunger Game's concept I'm having trouble understanding.

Here's how I am constructing it. None of these details are final, though.

Everyone starts off in the center of the grid. All players are given a choice; in a circle in front of them are an assortment of items that will help them survive; weapons of various lethality, food and water, methods for making fire, etc. All characters are capable of choosing one but, at a catch; the closer an item is to the center of the circle, the more helpful it is and, the more dangerous it is to get and going for them adds a chance of dying proportional to the amount of people going to that circle. For example, the innermost circle might have a 5% risk; if 10 people try to fight for the items there, there is a 5% * 10 or 50% each one of them will not survive. Those that do will have a significant advantage... but is it worth it? Any of the lesser items on the outside circles are either risk free or essentially risk free.

Everything you do in the game either increases your odds for surviving or decreases it. If you have enough food, you have a 100% chance of surviving the night. For every day you don't have food, your percentage goes down. Pairing up in a group increases your chances in a fight and finding food but, every one in the group has the opportunity to betray and turn on another. At the beginning of the game, players can adjust their traits to match the character they wish to play; do they wish to be a fighter, a survivalist, a tracker, etc. Making your traits and your initial partner's traits be complimentary will help the two of you survive, but when you they die/you kill them, then you lose their help.

Diplomacy and tactics.

Tbh, KYE doesn't seem much like an adventure game as much as HG would. It really depends on the way you ran the two of them, in which I'd be most interested in hearing, but I'dbe down for both really.

All right, thanks every one for your input. Looks like I'll be focusing on the Hunger Games idea. After my semester ends (May) I'll try to get the game up.

Don't get mad - get Swiss
Know your enemy screws Europeans over. I'm not gonna wake up in the middle of the night to post. Plus I'm reluctant to not post slogans in italics.

Italics.

Hunger games looks great and would definitely play.

> Get a partner
> Wifom
> Kill partner immediately
> Wifom
> ???
> Victory

I swear to god marshy, I'm gonna punch you in da face! :mad088:

Right now I'm leaning towards KYE, since the modding part of the Hunger Games would take a little too much time right now. If people are still interested, I'll set the thread up soon.

Also, for Marshy's eyes only:
Updated a lot of Benedict Pollywog. Give it a read.
