Do you see how it becomes impossible to take credit for a victory if every person can simply say...that was a mystery.
N get this, learning character matchups are only PART of what makes certain fights difficult. Styles are imo even more important and difficult to get used to. So with this logic, I can take away the positive feeling annyone ever gets from beating me, by saying I only lost because they were a mystery to me because I didn't know their style. Then go on to say how they are really a scrub, and I will **** them blah blah blah.
If you lose to someone, its fine to realize within yourself why you THINK you are wrong. (Even though most people are completely wrong) But when you put those words out there for everyone to see, its what we call Johns.
The fact that you don't know someones style is EXPECTED, being a little iffy on character matchups is EXPECTED. Thats why we have tournaments, to see who can apply their style the best and become victorious.
I don't see how you conclude that you are better than someone who you never have beaten. Mind you, whatever logic you use to console yourself and allow you to believe you are better than those who beat you....It can be used against u just as strongly. For instance, I lost to mexi because squirtle was a mysteyr. Mexi can say, Dam pit was really weird to fight, I had no clue what he was going to do next, wow what a mystery. Hmm you both were confused, so why did mexi win?
You can't simply take the person out of the equation, and act as if each match is something YOU YOURSELF are playing out. A match is a duel between TWO people, and the fact that you lose a match is very much dependant on that 2nd factor THE OTHER PERSON.
Quick question, how do you define BETTER PLAYER? I mean the game was new, how do you assume you are a better player than anyone? Im seriously confused. The point of the game is to win. Players play the game to win. A good player wins.Mexi won the tournament, there for he was better at winning than you so.....Mexi was a better player. Forgive me if my algebra is a little off, its been a while:)

if you do better vs more people, more often, then you are probably better

vidjo has never beaten husband, but vidjo does better vs far more people than husband does, and ranks higher in tourney, making vidjo better

i don't wish to take much part of this but that statement you gave was not a good argument

I am teh_spamerer, and I approve of this message.

Seriously Lucas, even if you "need" to feel confident to win matches there is absolutely no need to go on the boards and talk **** to players who beat you or who you beat for any reason(unless you 4 stocked them with Pichu or something ridiculous like that.) You can make the case that you're a better player if you play Mexi and the numerous other people you say you're better than who beat you. Otherwise, you're just going out of your way to be an ******* and I am never, EVER going to support you in that and neither is anyone intelligent.

Yeah but Jason...Lucas says that he's better than numerous people all of which he lost to when Brawl has been out for 2 months or something. There's a difference between Inui saying he's better than all of them and Husband saying he's better than Vidjo cuz Melee had been out for YEARS before that happened and Marth vs Peach is a **** matchup.

accurate, but given the context of the situation i was referring to, I would assume that you could see that there is no such history between inui and mexi.
Brawl is new, there could not have been THAT many tournys before this one that could have rightfully created any kind of ego or pirde related to this game. Maybe, MAAAYBE now at this point in brawl, people can start to feel some sort of hmm Im good hmm Im a somebody on this scene. But at that point in time, NO!
The only thing that could be used to determine who was better at that point in time was, beating someone. Pretty stupid right? Why do you think Im saying that wins that early shouldnt be counted or even mentioned?

But yes I apologize if I wasnt descriptive enough, Im studying and posting at 3:20 am not a good mix.
No Johns MewIcanchaingrabanyspacieplayerntheirmomm0-deathathesametimeTWOking

Edit: Also, I have had MANY discussions about defining BETTER. It's actually really difficult to do. If I'm comparing me vs whoever, and I **** them on a daily basis, that holds ALOT OF WEIGHT in the discussion. I mean of course in most cases people will be relatively close, but it doesnt take away from the fact that someone consistently beating someone else has weight in the discussion of who's better. This however is a completely different topic that I'm too tired and cant concentrate on formulating my thoughts into paragraphs lol

Btw, inui went even with me and i've played the game like 4 times total. I didn't even know the stage he picked as my counterpick LOL. GG And it was only like 2 weekends ago or something.

So clearly I'm as good as he is. So I'll just not play this game and however he places assume I'd place the same. Rank me accordingly once you rank for brawl.

Edit : Also went even with azen and had him say " You were my hardest match in the tournament" On aim. And at that point my setup hadn't even unlocked all the characters or the random stage select thing LOL.

I think both times I got 7th. I'll enter one more tournament eventually when I'm really bored and theres no melee tournies around so I have the 3 tournament minimum. Just so some one who doesn't even care gets ranked. xD

lol

I can handle Pikachu camping all day now. Want to money match in Brawl? You're not as good as me at Brawl. Not even close. You can camp massively with one good character and play on neutrals. That's it. What a ridiculous conclusion you've come to based on almost nothing.

Here's how I can conclude that I am better than Mexi:

1. I know that Mexi had experience against both Pit and Marth from what he and his crew told me, and yet our matches were last hit even though I had no idea what I was doing against his characters.
2. I was significantly better than him in Melee.
3. I've beaten more people and have been to more events while he just coasted through an easy bracket in a single elimination tournament with bad rules, beating only one good player in the process.

If that's not enough for you, then lol I'm not going to bother discussing this any more.

I'm not utterly crippled by Pit-in-singles anymore, so they're not going to win against me.

Mexi beat you last time you played him 2-0, he can easily say he had no idea agaisnt your characters cause as you said, he hasn't been to much tournies. Your 2nd judgement is stupid and to play against your 3rd, you've also lost to alot more people than he has. Wanna know why? Cause he's lost to NONE. He's only been to one tourney.

Those were BY FAR the worst justifications I have ever read. N just because u didnt know a match perfectly doesnt mean you couldn sit, camp, shoot arrows until the time ran out. Isn't that how u beat a majority of your earliy victims? I mean Its not like you werent playing smash, so doont take the " I didnt know the match" John to far. It really only holds a small amount of weight. N Nice job ignoring all of the good points I made, and simply repeating your bs.

WOW did you really just say that and blatantly LIE to everyone who wasn't there??? The matches were last hit!? BULL ****! He two stocked your Pit if you don't remember in the first match, which is far from "last hit." The second match also wasn't last hit. It was last stock mind you, but somewhere around the 50-70% area if I recall correctly. That's not "last hit" either, as I'm sure you that characters can easily live to high 100%s with proper DI and if their opponents moves are weak if they used the wrong moves and got hit hard by attack deterioration.

Also, it's not like he had tons of Pit and Marth practice. We have one friend that plays Pit, and one friend that plays Marth. The Marth player is extremely inactive and barely plays, and the Pit player hasn't been to one tourney yet, and you're most likely better than him. Like you've never fought one Pokemon Trainer? Stop johning and accept the lost.

Is that a yes or no? You're "just as good as me" based on our set, right? Then do it.

ummmm eggm doesn't really play brawl so he doesn't "know" any matchups (outside of CHAINGRABBING) so any victory you get can obviously be attributed to his lack of matchup knowledge and not superior skill
