VC Finale! Feat. DEHF, Lovage, MikeHAZE & Havok - Saturday, August 21st

Hey guys, I'm really sorry this is such short notice, but this Saturday we're gonna have a large scale regional tournament at the art gallery in Oxnard, the Ventura County Finale. It will feature both Brawl and Melee, and since I am now running it, it will be almost identical to the way that the Oxnard Ranking Battles are run, except it will have a bigger turnout than the ranbats usually have since Aberu had been advertising it for quite a while. This is what you can expect:

Brawl Rules - MLG
Melee Rules - Pound 4

Itinerary
11:00 am : Casuals and sign-ups
12:00 pm : Brawl Doubles
1:00 pm : Melee Doubles
2:00 pm : Brawl Singles
3:00 pm : Melee Singles

Fees
Singles - $7
Doubles -$10 ($5 per teammate)
Venue - $3 (Bring a setup and you don't have to pay the venue fee)

Prizes (Standard Payouts)
Doubles
1st: 50%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 20%

Singles
1st: 70%
2nd: 20%
3rd: 10%

I'm not going to answer that because it doesn't matter at this point and it's just going to give you more of a reason to *****. This tournament is going to have a big turnout, and it's going to be legit. You guys can either (a) start whining like little *****es about why you shouldn't or can't go (too short of notice, bad date, TO didn't hold your hand long enough, etc.) OR (b) you can grow some balls and just try your best, as responsible tournament participants, to attend what you know is going to be a sick tournament.

A big turnout of locals doesn't make it a regional.

Like I said, all I can guarantee is a good tournament for both games, I can't guarantee attendance because I just picked up this responsibility earlier this week (I didn't even want to run it). Either come or don't, but please stop *****ing!

How many setups do you have? Do you need more?

Do you need recording setups?

What's your expected turnout for each event?

1. We'll have at least 8-10, dividing that up between the two games. More setups are always appreciated.

2. We would love recording setups, thank you.

3. I expect around 32 for Brawl, around 16 for melee.

4. Because this originally wasn't my tournament. What happened was, a while back my friend Kevin (Aberu) mentioned in passing that he was going to run a big 805 tournament towards the end of August. He told me that he was still looking for a venue (this was like late June when we had this conversation) and I told him he could run it at my dad's art gallery. I never talked to him about it again since then, but he made the allisbrawl tournament page for it and everything. Earlier this week he told me he can't run it, and I didn't even remember that it was scheduled, so I checked the date and basically took full responsibility of it within the past week. Sorry I couldn't do more for you guys, let's just be happy that the tournament is still going to happen and hope for a good turnout.

hmm idk i dont think sub marth is bad on paper, only problem rlly are small things that dont rlly happen with good teamwork tho.

and all right ill give you that, but i alrdy knew mio was taking over b4 any1 knew this tourny was happening ;) XD

if irvine/818 wants to come out we'll make it a decent turnout

if it's just 805 going i'd rather just stay at brendans or whatever

So I know a few UCLA peeps that are going to this for melee... and Larry is going to be there, which means that the rest of 818 is most likely going to follow. I think melee is looking pretty solid at this point.

And with a $7 registration / $3 venue fee (and no pot % removed), the singles pot is going to be substantially bigger than it is at the ranking battles in both games. Bigger turnout + more registration money towards pot = an exponentially bigger amount of prize money. ****'s looking good!
