Even using your own eyes i think it's pretty obvious that there's no chance that 1 in 4 people in your country are obese. I have family in Australia and compared to most of the rest of the world the ethic towards sports and physical activity is very VERY good, the quality of life generally in australia is very good and i'm not surprised the life expectancy is so high, something else which contradicts largely with what is said in that article.
Yeah, except that you've heard both from me and Mic both agree on us being obese. After spending a weekend around much of the city, I have to say it's pretty confirmed that 1/4 are obese. Yes, Australia in general has a very fit culture, but that's definetly changing. When I work with kids, both in schools and out of school hours care, the crap they eat is staggering, and the kids certainly are becoming bigger. You can't help but think 'my god, why are they giving their kid a packet of crisps, a chocolate bar and a canof lemonade for Lunch!?' until you see the kids parents and you can see where they get it from.
My mum has a running joke when she went shopping on wednesdays and always saw lots of obese people. Since then usually when we see a large number of obese people, she jokes that 'It must be Wednesday'
It's been Wednesday too often.
