lulz, sarcasm on the interwebz
Not really his fault, your comment wasn't really sarcastic. The likely interpretations are teasing, self-deprecating, or egotistical. He just picked the latter, haha. In other words:

lulz, linguists who are bad at tone on the intarwebz

But it was, if you both had been following what been going on here the past week, I've been joking about how awesome I am for beating a bunch of yall in one match, it was on that tangent. Obviously being able to beat someone in one match is no marker of how skilled a player is, you have to be consistent.
So yes, it was pretty sarcastic.

and tone implies sound...

I know what's been going on. I was just pointing out that joking/teasing isn't the same as sarcasm. Though sarcasm can often involve saying something outrageous, contrary, or ironic, it also comes with a derisive/cutting tone. So unless you actually wanted to put someone down rather than make a simple joke, I doubt your tone was sarcastic.

What's so bad about using the colloquial meaning of words? Sure, it may cause confusion sometimes but you can usually tell what the person means. In this case, it was clear that Rohan meant "teasing" and not "harsh derision."

Well, I usually try to avoid being a grammar nazi, but he wasn't even using a colloquial meaning of "sarcasm". It was just blatant misuse of the word. At first, I thought it was just a slip-up, so I tried to point it out for the lulz. However, after using the word incorrectly again twice, all that was left was a facepalm and a good Inigo Montoya quote.

fair enough lol

I just had a silly idea. We should have a "fight Rohan" station set up at this meeting where each melee player plays matches against Rohan until Rohan loses er wins, at which point you rotate and a new melee player comes in. The goal is for Rohan to beat every melee player once before the end of the 9 hour meeting. Can he do it??

I doubt Rohan can take a match off of me unless we do some ridiculously one-sided match-up.

This warrior defeats his enemies on his own terms!!!

think I'd rather just do crew battles, haha

fair enough, if I went Marth, you'd just go Marth, and you actually know how to use Peach. My only alternative would be Luigi, and it'd just be a matter of pulling off combos in the right situations, but I'd only go Luigi if you went fox.

Edgar's mewtwo beat your fox. This means either:
A. Edgar's mewtwo is amazing and he should start using mewtwo in tournaments!
B. Edgar's mewtwo is bad. Your fox is good but you just f***ed up or sandbagged on that one match (or that matchup is stacked in mewtwo's favor lol).
C. Edgar's mewtwo is bad, your fox is bad, and, assuming Rohan's luigi is decent (an assumption for which I cannot present evidence for), Rohan's luigi might be able to beat your fox!

:p

Due to some demand from our friends in the Austin Brawl community, there will be a Brawl singles tournament at this meeting. Will most likely start at 5pm, $5 entry fee, cash payouts 60/30/10, grand finals at least will be recorded. Hype?

As for a melee event, it seems a few of our melee regulars aren't coming so not sure about doing a melee crew battle. We could just do a melee singles tournament with $1 or $5 entry fee.

It's all a matter if I don't let Kal take the advantage.
Luigi is difficult to combo, but Luigi has no problems comboing Fox. Idk if up throw uair even works on Luigi.
Of course, it's also easy to camp Luigi, which Fox excels at.

And I have almost beaten Mitchell's fox with Luigi on FoD.
And I like to think my Luigi is somewhat decent. He doesn't require much tech skill since he's so floaty, other than wavedashing which is easy. And of course he's difficult to combo for most characters.

If we do a Melee event, I'd rather it be a crew battle, otherwise I'd just do friendlies.
I'm still not good enough to get anywhere in a tourney.

If the Luigi DIs, Fox can't uthrow uair him. Still, as you mentioned, runaway + laser beats Luigi.

You are aware that you don't have to be good in order to enter a tournament and have fun, yes? Lots of people show up to tournaments, and almost all of them (read: all but one of them) lose.

I'd prefer a tournament with a crew battle side event before the tournament. If you have it after the tournament everyone will be too tired to give a ****.

You just want him to enter to increase the pot size which you have a great chance of winning from.

Kidding of course, I know you play melee more for the fun than the money. I agree. I enter tournaments all the time, don't mind paying a small entry fee even if I don't have a great chance of seeing a monetary return on that investment. You're paying for a fun and rewarding experience! And the more tournaments you enter, the better you get and the greater are your chances of winning some money. You should look at it that way.

k, I don't have a problem with that

but my main point was not losing, obviously I'd lose, I meant I'd prolly still not be able to even get past the first round.

Whether he comes or not, I'll still win. I'll use someone I'm actually good with (read: not falco xD). And if i don't win, you'll still love me anyway, and in the end, that's all that really matters.

Matt, there are so many things wrong with your post that I'm considering selling my soul to the devil in order to have them fixed.
