I had assumed everyone was exaggerating their reaction for the sake of humor since people do that here a lot. If it bugs people that much I’ll stop, just I’d rather not be accused of looking at porn because I made an obvious joke.

At first I thought we'd get the usual 15 or so, but after EVERYONE IS HERE I expected less.

Sometimes I thought we'd get more anyway (especially during the Grinch) but for the most part I never really thought we'd get a ton of characters.

Pre e3 I expected the average 15 or so, maybe a tad less if they brought everyone from 4 back, post e3 I thought 6-9 unique newcomers was most likely.

I expected one new character after Incineroar. After we got Piranha Plant, I felt we were done but thought a newcomer reveal was still possible like with DLC, and then we got Joker.

Well after “Everyone is Here” I knew it was going to have less unique newcomers than smash 4, with like 6 being the lowest and 10 the most because of Sakurai’s statements about implementing more characters to smash is more like multiplication than addition.

My prediction/wishlists had usually 8 unique newcomers, but once box theory came around, i really did expect the least.

I believed the box theory because it was the most disappointing pessimistic option to me and because at that point, everyone I had hoped for realistically stood no chance.

Also because Nintendo/Sakurai would definitely be the people to spoil the remaining amount of newcomers accidentally.

Pre-E3 I predicted that everyone from Smash 4 + would return (which did end up happening), so I predicted slightly less newcomers than usual (I think 10-12 was the number).

I didn't expect to come back, so after that, I lowered my predictions down to around 7-9 unique newcomers total.
