play colors and generations then go back to unleashed daytime levels and you will realize they aren't NEARLY as tightly designed as you remember.

Also there is ZERO excuse for the werehog. I've never seen a game's pace come to such a screeching halt CONSTANTLY. The night levels are the worst form of a beat em' up possible. It is literally just press one button until enemies are dead, then slowly go through an awkward platforming section, then back to fighting a group of enemies. Who thought this was a good idea for a game about GOING FAST???
Woah, no crapping on my thoughts like that. I happen to love the daytime levels more than Colors and Generations. Plus, while the Werehog was unnecessary, it was fun in its own right. It is part of a children's game, so it was probably made that way for simplicity. Not that it matters, probably, but still. Some people liked the Werehog, you know.

I guess it was their way of trying to add "variety" to the game. Problem is, it's boring as FORK. Combat segments in 3D Platformer games are typically trash, unless the game is called "Rayman 3"

Well, considering the following...

It’s absolutely polarizing. I was having fun with it. But now that I’m getting into endgame, it’s just starting to feel frustrating. I can understand what Smasher is saying, but I feel like that can only apply if you have already memorized the design of the levels, because I cannot for the life of me react in time with any obstacles. A problem I just don’t have when I play Colors and Generations. Even the first time.
Hey, memorization has been a part of many games, like the NES games and perhaps the SNES and Genesis games. Why no Sonic? Once you memorize it, it is all worth it, well, at least it is to me. I miss that kind of fast-paced-ness.

But the problem is that Intelligent Systems CAN do HD, Paper Mario: Color Splash is a clear example of that. And with so many games that Nintendo has released and or published, looking at Fire Emblem: Three Houses next to Xenoblade 2, ASTRAL CHAIN, Breath of the Wild and much more, it just... Feels out of place. Hell, I'd say even Pokemon Sword and Shield look justified enough to be HD.

I ain't trying to look at moldy bread, my guy. I wanna experience lush, scenic battlegrounds and areas. If the ****ing re-release of Valkyria Chronicles remastered looks better than this, we got a problem.
Imagine telling someone they look like moldy bread.

Holy ****, I may have to use that next time a student is being a ****. Especially because i've been told like 3 times in the last 2 days, "You know who you look like? You look like that man from Ratatouille!"

********.

Okay. I REALLY gotta point this out on the spot.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was developed by 40 people, essentially. Most of Monolith Soft was taken by Nintendo to develop Breath of the Wild. They've developed the game since after Xenoblade Chronicles X released, so essentially 2-3 years. The result? A gorgeous game with landscapes that are super detailed and jaw dropping locals, almost insane to think the design and textures were made by almost 5-7 people, probable.

So I say this as someone who honest to God wants this game to do good and to finally get into Fire Emblem, and with this game ALSO having the same amount of development time, if not more, than Xenoblade 2.

Why does Fire Emblem: Three Houses look like an up-resed GameCube game.

Intelligent System’s only experience with HD graphics is Color Splash on the Wii U (and 2d cartoony graphics doesn’t help much with 3d realistic/anime graphics), it’s so bad they are hiring Koei Tecmo to use the FE Warriors engine as a base. Intelligent Systems has also only been recently making handheld FE games, and it’s not like the GameCube and Wii games were up to par with graphics standards either.

Compare that to MonolithSoft, who has been making 3d JRPGs for nearly 2 decades and have a ton of experience from Xenoblade Chronicles X with an HD realistic/anime art-style and it’s easy to see that MonolithSoft is much more talented and experienced than IS at this stuff.

Honestly, for me they just need to put some anti-alising onto those crunchy models to make them look smoother. I’ll turn combat animations off relatively early within the game, so battles looking bad really don’t matter to me imo. Monolith is AAA, Intelligent Systems is really only AA, so I expect different things from them.

Were you expecting me to agree with you, even, or try to make me see what you see? I will respect your opinion on the game as I have with many others before, but it ain't working if you are doing that.
No I wasn't expecting you to agree, I was laying out a counterpoint.

Also big PSA: an E rated game is not JUST for children, and you cannot excuse poor game design due to it potentially being popular with a young demographic

I mean sure. But that doesn’t make it any better first time through.
Well, not to push, but if there is any hope for you liking the game, some things are not enjoyed the first time around. You just have to keep playing and then maybe you'll like it more. I am doubtful if this will happen in your case, though.

That's understandable...

It was the first first game with the Hedgehog Engine, so they probably had some time to polish up the gameplay by the time Colors and Generations came out, meaning the level designs in those games are likely way less finicky compared to Unleashed

30k bounty, not bad
I doubt it tbh

Sometimes I get scared of myself because I start thinking in some pretty unhealthy ways...

I have a lot to anchor me though, which I’m thankful for.

Here we go.

First off, that was an unnecessary counterpoint, that didn't need to come out.

Secondly, while the E thing is true, keep in mind that Sonic has always been for kids, so the Werehog was probably made for kids too, hence the simplicity and the button mashing. It's probably not easy for kids to understand the complex stuff, complexity may be a bit too much for kids, yada yada yada, but you should know what I mean. If it was made for kids, and they didn't want to make it complex, then it is probably not an excuse for poor game design, if you ask me.

Yeah. I’m sorry. I’m glad you like it though. I won’t **** on you for having fun with a game you genuinely love. I know that now. I’m still gonna pull through to finish. I’m in the final stretch, I just need to unlock the daytime levels in adabat. I just need to get 20 more sun medals to do so.
