Could be speculation, but I could have sworn that was said at one point.

iirc it was a scramble because nintendo wanted a joker reveal at TGA but sakurai had no gameplay of him to show off, so they had to throw together the animated trailer

i don't think there's ever been anything to suggest the intended fighter order was actually switched around

Iirc, Verg said the SE DLC would be first, however there is evidence to suggest that the Joker trailer was a last minute plan to replace the original character reveal. So while that claim in itself was wrong, the Square Enix character is still very much agreed upon among leakers.

I think Sakurai was saying Joker was revealed earlier than he would've liked, so they had to put a teaser together, but I don't recall anything he said to have implied Joker wasn't planned to be the first character. Apparently three fighters have been worked on since release, anyway.

I wonder if Artorias could be Brave.

edit: apparently he just said they had to make the anime-style teaser since Nintendo wanted them to reveal him at TGA (thanks Bolderousness), but yeah it seems to be nothing about the order of planned releases being changed.

Eh, that could simply be speculation then. However, I don’t think that really puts any sort of dent in Erdrick/ Luminary into Smash.

The fact that it’s been said by different leakers suggests it’s plausible.

it does, however, call verge's claim into question. in all honesty the only one i'm really putting any stock into right now is tansut, given his record with cloud and clearly having a source at SE, though even that's only one-time proof right now among a number of non-smash claims he's made that have been off the mark.
