Wow I didn't know they were porting Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn to Switch.

It looks like a logical extension of FEA/Fates when you use the FEA artstyle, put everyone in a uniform, and make everyone the same age.

I'm not nearly as hyped as I was for Fates and SoV. I'm hopeful, but I've had my worries.

Regardless, I'm just ready to play a new Fire Emblem.

Thracia 776, Shadow Dragon, New Mystery of the Emblem, and to a lesser extent Awakening all had Annas with a more violet-red hair color, so I don't see how people think Three Houses Anna looks off. The artstyle just leads to softer colors in general.

I’m not really a FE guy (only games I’ve played were one of the two Radiants on the Wii and Awakening, and I didn’t really like either one), but Three Houses looks good enough to me. Not great, but passable.

I guess that’s not a common opinion among FE fans.

Alas, that is not the case.

I don't play Fire Emblem for a school simulator.

I don't even care that much for story in Fire Emblem games, but I don't want to have to deal with any Hogwarts BS. Just give me an army to control and some battles to fight through.

Hmmm, that's a good point, but I don't know, I'm just not a fan at how this Anna look after being so used to Awakening/Fate Anna design.

So, I guess I wait and see if I like it more with time.

Play Blazing Sword or Sacred Stones for GBA. Either are great introductions to the series.

I’m worried for Three Houses, it deviates a lot from FE conventions so a portion of FE fans aren’t liking it and those deviations don’t seem to be capturing casuals’/the general Switch fanbase’s interest. IMO they should’ve kept Kozaki if they wanted to ride on the FatesAwakening success and establish a Switch FE fan base and then change art styles. The aesthetic, which is supposed to attract newcomers to these kinds of series, is one of Three Houses’ weakest points.

i can't really put it into words, but i just find the hair to be consistently off with every three houses character i've seen (again, barring edelgard and yellow dude, who both look pretty good). the hair colours are garish and weird, and the hair itself looks sort of slapped on as another layer, similar to how the fateswakening avatar/kids had to accomodate for multiple possible hair colours - except here, there's only one set design, yet it consistently seems to be the worst possible choice.

it's part of why i call it the 'rpg maker character generator' look - they don't look like designs that were worked on individually with multiple concepts and iterations, they look pushed out and generated without much thought or care into the overall appearance.

The game literally tells you the % chance of promoting and I doubt it's even hard to get it to 100%, pretty sure all it's going to do is allow some early promotions.

Also, my problem with Anna is her face, the hair is completely fine imo

Three Houses looks promising mechanically, but yeah, visually it looks incredibly rough. It's telling when Pokemon of all things looks better than it.

Like, if it were an indie game I'd be more forgiving, but Three Houses is a major Nintendo project, it should look as good as their other projects. There really isn't any good excuse here other than the FE team apparently is out of their element making an HD home console game.

As for some of the non-Edelgard and Claude characters I like the designs of, Bernadetta, Raphiel, Hilda, Mercedes, and Petra all look neat. Dorothea and Caspar are funny from a meme perspective, too.
