weirdly i've gone from "yea i guess this is still possible" to "this is actually very very possible" in the span of two hours

mostly down to her weapon similarities, her costume being skimpy joker, and the grappling hook most likely being taken from P5R

if i wasn't on that thread's supporters list before then put me down now, cause no way is atlus passing up this shilltastic opportunity

No, faygo, don't you understand? Characters have to EARN their place in Smash! They need to sweat blood and tears all day every day to even be remotely considered and anything less is an offense to me and my favorite character in particular.

I feel like the "Jane" echo situation is a no-win scenario. Either:

• She's free with Joker, which creates the expectation of echoes for each part of the fighter pass
• She's paid DLC that's cheaper than Joker, which means people could buy here instead of Joker and get the same fighter for less
• She paid DLC that's the same as Joker, which means people who already have Joker would have to pay the same price to get an echo

Maybe she's a costume sold later as part of an effort to sell new skins for various characters. That's the best case scenario for me.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I feel like Sakurai has really been looking out for the consumer when it comes to DLC. I doubt that an echo fighter DLC would be anything more than a free add on to a fighter pack. I don't think the smash team would feel any sort of obligation to include echo fighters in future packs.

Idk how I feel about Kasumi in Smash, Joker in Smash with Persona content feels like a Playstation advertisement as it is seeing as mainline Persona is still Playstation exclusive (we didn’t even get Nintendo Persona content, like from Persona Q). Kasumi just seems hard to implement as Echo DLC, like how do you price Echoes? Would Joker purchasers get her for free? Does that mean we can expect Echoes for other Fighter’s Pass characters, also for free? Imo she was planned but ultimately didn’t make the cut, so at most we’ll get her artwork for Spirit battle DLC if P5 ever comes to Switch.

Assuming Royal on the Switch or appearing on P5S (assuming it is a Switch port) ain't a thing, Kasumi making it into Smash would make her the first character to not have an appearance on a Nintendo platform beforehand.

This will do interesting things to the speculation train. Not sure if those things are good or bad.

Anyway, I am sold on P5R.

nevertheless, i think the rule would remain that a franchise needs to have a nintendo appearance (see cloud and his very few nintendo appearances beforehand)

i also don't think she'd have a chance without joker to anchor her there, so the rule holds however precariously

I think it's age, on my PS4. We're talking about the OG model, here. Like the disc drive is still acting up without even a disc at all.

P5R is a golden-type rerelease with a ****load of new content

kasumi is a new party member who has enough similarities to joker in both aesthetic and weapons (sword/one-handed shotgun) to potentially be an echo

additionally, P5R features joker using his grappling hook from smash, which suggests that smash joker was developed drawing directly from P5R

well, story elements will have to change to accommodate the new content - it could be that the final boss is pushed back later into the year, or that there's a new final boss taking place before the events of the original game's ending come to pass
