MvC is different because a lot the time I see people complaining about X Characer or Y character not being in the game.

And in particular it's always like ''Gambit is missing! Venom is missing!" or some random 90's character who might not be relevant to Marvel at the time.

That's why MvC3 had a great roster. Everyone on both sides was relevant to both companies at the time even if someone like Mega Man was missing.

3 certainly felt like the most relevant roster in context but Strider, Tron Bonne, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu, Arthur, Firebrand, all the Darkstalkers?
Even on the Marvel side, characters like MODOK, Shuma, Dormammu and Super Skrull being necessarily relevant is sort of a stretch imo. It's comics so no one's ever really completely irrelevant but those characters weren't exactly lighting up the world then. Gotta disagree with you there.

Tbf Super Skrull was only added after the team had difficulty adapting the Fantastic Four to which Marvel suggested Super Skrull.

Nero would probably happen if we get another MvC sometime soon. So essentially Nero isn't gonna happen.

TheMightyP to answer your question earlier, I did some digging on the first guest character in a fighting game, and here's what I found.

The first ever guest character in a fighting game from what I can gather, was in Data East's Street Fighter II ripoff, Fighter's History from 1993, in which the final boss was Karnov, a character from the 1987 arcade game of the same name, also by Data East. He wasn't playable in the original arcade version of the game, though. That wouldn't happen until it was ported to the SNES where he was playable via a cheat code.
