Okay so people have been saying that we likely won't get another Smash for a decade after Ultimate but I want to gauge how everyone feels about that, When do you think we'll get the next Smash Game after Ultimate? Obviously it's too early to be asking those kinds of questions but I'm curious.

Sakurai could work on something else for awhile and then take a few years off which I would be okay with since that man deserves at least a Year and a Half break after everything he's done for us, On the other hand an entire Decade seems kind of exaggerated it's an entire decade meaning we wouldn't have another one until 2030.

Not until the next console generation/major console Nintendo releases.

I really don't even want another Smash after Ultimate, kinda.

There's no way they'll pull off EVERYONE IS HERE 2.0, and by the time DLC is done, and them probably adding stuff back in(HOME RUN CONTEST?!), Ultimate, content-wise, will be near perfect.

Why Smash should end where it is and continue perhaps with a spiritual successor or spin-off.

Interesting question for the class:
What are characters you actually asked for in the past that got in?

For reference: I started with Brawl but didn't really get into speculation until Ultimate.
Characters I blindly expected to happen at some point:

Characters I figured would be really cool i they would get announced:

Characters I REALLY wanted back:

Characters I've actually made blood sacrifices for:
(And for some reason she isn't even a unique character)

So in your opinion: Do I have 8 characters in the game that I wanted, or do I have 0,5?


I tend to razor Leaf at off stage people to halt their momentum and then actually jump at them to dair

In Melee I asked for Sonic. They told me that Sonic wasn't Nintendo. I told them that I was nine and didn't care. Got him later.
I also asked for Diddy Kong. He showed up too. Eventually.
And lastly I asked for Banjo. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In Brawl I wanted Bomberman. He was in a lot of leaks. People forget how the fanbase saw him as vying for that third third-party slot with Mega Man. Turns out there would be no winners there.
It was also in this time period that everyone was big on Midna. I wanted Skull Kid. Then much later they started talking about chairs, acting like a big deal, and I hid my face.
Next was Krystal. The Star Fox debates would've been good fun for any masochists here. Of course that was back when Sakurai had "Star Fox bias".
Oh I also wanted some guy named Isaac.
Ultimate would prove a helluva monkey paw.

In 4 I wanted Shulk, despite his and Isaac's fanbase taking it upon themselves to form a rivalry. I was accused of not liking Shulk, despite liking Shulk.
I also asked for Palutena, but I didn't ask for her to have the worst default moveset known to man. That was just a gift from Sakurai.
So despite Isaac being out to ****ing lunch and having given up on Krystal (and Banjo and Bomberman both being dead), I was still satisfied.
Then they added Mewtwo, who everyone and their grandmother was on about. I fit under the grandmother category.
And then came Cloud, who, despite being wanted, I didn't ask for too much, because I was not on the same drugs as Sakurai. Also asking for Cloud was a one-way ticket to derision back then. How far we've come.

Then when Splatoon showed up I started making Smash banners before I had any right to do so. Five million copies sold luckily vindicated my impulse.
Then for Ultimate, Travis came back to life, I thought he'd be cool, then Suda immediately implied he wasn't included.
But at this point I've fully lost my mind and only want WALUIGI
And Isaac and Banjo.

So to recap... I got and

Still waiting on Banjo, Bomberman, Skull Kid, Krystal, Isaac, Travis, and WAAA

So 50/50. Perfectly balanced. Thanos would be happy, but I just want what I want.

Mhm. If we do get another Smash, I hope they simply port it to the next console and perhaps add a couple of DLC characters to celebrate be port.
If not, Smash can finally go to rest and become one of the ol’ Nintendo classics, as it was intended after Melee.

Characters I wanted that got in?

I didn’t have any big wants till smash 4 but overtime it’s been these characters

Sonic, Ridley, ryu, mewtwo, Cloud, Chrom.

I was open to bowser jr. But never knew if I would like a moveset for him. He’s one of my favorites right now though. I wanted most of the vets back for 4 and ultimate and I got that too. A lot of my favorites in smash are characters I never knew I wanted like R.O.B. Some others were obvious additions.

I also wanted to see mega man because it be cool as well as pac man but I didn’t want them other then to have them in due to their icon status.

Inklings I also started to want but they were basically a lock so it doesn’t matter much.

Actually my earliest and biggest want was Tom nook or an animal crossing rep like K.K. So getting villager and then Isabelle was pretty cool.
As for who I wanted that aren’t in:

Captain toad, wonder red, bomberman, Phoenix Wright( this was even before I actually played his games. I liked him in MVC) , a Geno, Sora, and especially bandanna Dee, Leon or any RE rep, Travis touchdown. Also if his franchise still existed I would be campaigning for Billy Hatcher.

Frogger would be cool to. I think that about covers my list right now. Sword and shield will probably have something i would like to see. And my wants might change down the line.

Also another pick i would like is paper mario but only if partners were in his moveset.

So for the most part a lot of my wants aren’t even. But I’m pretty content with the roster, a lot of characters i never thought I’d want but I’m all about moveset potential. I look forward to the dlc regardless of the rest of the picks. I’d be pretty hype for any of my wants though.

Wants in 2013:

Sceptile, Flygon, Doctor Eggman, Drawn to Life Hero. Score: 3/8

Wants in 2015:

Captain Toad, Hero, Fawful, Zero, Rundas, Wonder Red. Score: 1/8

Wants in 2017:

Hero, Fawful, Zero, Rundas, Wonder Red, Skull Kid, Rex. Score: 2,5/10

Wants now:
Fawful, Zero, Sylux (but actually Rundas), Skull Kid, Lora, 2B, Amaterasu, Grovyle. Score: Probably 1/8

Characters not included here because they're too farfetched:
Orcane, Gharnef, Rokusho, Ga Jiarg, Lon'qu, Ben

To be fair, out of the absurdly long list of characters I've asked for over the years, there are 10 "Spearhead" characters, so to speak.


Grovyle (Of Sceptile), Fawful, Rundas (or Sylux), Lora, Skull Kid, Rokusho.

So a 3,5/10, with a Sylux reveal on the horizon and Skull Kid being a lock for Sm6sh?

Time to get to sacrificing some more blood.

Brawl I kinda just went with the flow but hoped for Crash Bandicoot.

Smash 4, I got:
Getting was great too because while I loved him in Y (he was my starter), I never knew I wanted him in Smash until after his reveal.
