That's pretty much how I'm taking it in atm. I'd love for them to support the game with additional characters, but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised then lose sleep over something very-possibly-not-happening.

Was able to get Joker to download when I got home from work after a bit of trying. I like him and the P5 stuff in the game, just don’t expect to use him much.

And... it’s probably been discussed here already but the shared custom stages appears to be a mistake based on the most popular section. Though I really hope Nintendo doesn’t nix it cause there’s a 9/11 stage on there. I’m hoping we get a few great ones to download.

I could see it going either way but it's leaning more towards not happening.

I think the question is why even think about something that won't probably be dropped until next-next E3?


Sure, we can think about a possibility, but we're 2/6~ dlc characters in right now, it's way too early to entertain the idea of a 2nd pass.

Haven't had much time to actually do matches or anything, just test him out on Training.

I don't think I'm going to play as him that much, honestly. But he's at least more enjoyable to play as than Bayonetta, who I can't handle at all.

I feel pretty confident all the dlc are going to be 3rd parties, which just soo happen to happily coincide with the missing Mii outfits(Square, Namco, Capcom).


I dunno, if this is the case, after the Fighter's Pass is done, I'll be satisfied.


I'm already more than pleased with the base game(Where's Home Run), then we got Stage Builder back(Where's Homerun???), and they've even shown that they're bringing back cut Mii Outfits as DLC(WHERE'S HOME RUN?)


So after the Pass? I dunno, but I'm 'already' content, the pass is just extra.

Things I learned about the joker matchup when going online at about ~4.2 mil gsp with my mediocre bowser:

Eiha and Eigaon are straightforward enough to parry/jump over.
Arsene can be timed out.
Joker has a hard time killing without Arsene.
Rebel’s Guard means potential grabs.
Tetrakarn and Makarakarn means potential grabs.
Bowser’s command grab kills fairly early, specially on Battlefield stages.
Bowser’s grab game in general works well against the Jokers I’ve fought online.

In conclusion, from my less than stellar skills and the less than stellar opponents, don’t take a word I say seriously.

Switching control schemes is hard, too. Damn you muscle memory.

Oh neat so Leffen's found out a loop with Joker which is hypothetically infinite till kill percent.

The issue is

1. It's hard to do.
2. It only does 2.5% per rep so you're going to have to do a lot of reps.
3. It requires a Battlefield platform.

That's the thing these are all assumptions and I find the second point to be mighty weak as Nintendo could feel that way but there's no way that if Sakurai wanted to do another Season Nintendo would turn it down as it sells gangbusters even in terms of DLC.

Smash is a huge franchise and they very well could contemplate on doing another Season especially since Nintendo's new president is putting more focus on DLC and giving Smash more DLC would make sense in that regard.

Though I don't necessarily think we're gonna get a Season 2 you could argue in favor of it but it's unwise to expect it which is why it's only a dream of mine.

THAT has always been one of the biggest enigmas of this cycle.


Back when Nintendo misspoke and said that Plant was getting a stage, it made sense, but we know it's 6 empty slots, 5 stages.


It can only go 1 of 3 ways, really:


1# It's either for a bonus character for promotion/AND OR a new Ballot late into reveals.


2# It's where the "Page 2" or a supposed 2nd pass would go.


3# It's.... just left blank, which, as weird as that is, it's not unheard of for the Stage Select Screen to have questionable placements.

If you want my personal opinion, I am neutral on this, but I am open to the possibility. It's just that I'm used to being disappointed, so I set my expectations low deliberately so that any potential excitement is just that great. Some of my own counter-points to my list:
-Smash DLC is technically less work overall than a brand new game, which needs to be built from the ground up.
-Nintendo might strong-arm Sakurai into promoting certain characters like Rex, Spring Man, Waluigi, etc. if means more money, to Sakurai's chagrin.
-Nintendo could potentially exploit the popularity of guest characters (and characters in general) for profit, in order to keep the Switch userbase intrigued.
-The rights and resources aren't as difficult as we think, if we are to assume that the companies consulted for Smash are just as excited to be in the game.

The only reason these aren't looked into seriously is because it's just so conveniently good that if it doesn't happen, it'd be disastrously-bad for many. Just look at my banner. It's 15 slots exactly, just like the possible 15-character-total DLC. I haven't gotten rid of it because it contains characters I am holding out hope for. Maybe some get in, maybe one gets in, or maybe none get in. Regardless, you can show support for the appearance of certain DLC choices, but hype responsibly. Trust us, it's good for your mental health.

Man, picking just three SEGA characters is like picking my favorite children, even when Sonic, Jet Set Radio and Super Monkey Ball cast are already in.

I chose Bayonetta, Joker and Ulala in the end, but there're so many good SEGA characters.

I really like Igor's Spirit battle because it represents a major theme in Persona 5: having to start in a game where the odds are clearly set against you; but if you stand on your feet, you can turn the tables to your favour. This is represented with how you start with 300% right from the beginning against 3 Ridleys. But if you manage to stay alive, you'll get healed as time passes by giving you the chance to strike back and even things out. Eventally the battle gets easier as you just have to take on Robin. Showing that even if things are dire and unfair at first, one can still come out at top if they rebel against the odds.
