Advance Wars character when? They use guns but now they are eligible thanks to Joker using guns in Smash.

I mean, the modern games introduced the stomp and the slide attack, and then there's the light speed attack. They also changed his dash attack despite it initially being a reference to the running spin dash, so there's that.
There's also the bounce bracelet and the boost, as well as the drop dash, and if you really want to go off the walls, Wisps and Elemental Shields, and if you REALLY want to go off the walls, the Werehog

Side Special could be replaced with Boost, a Wisp power, or Lightspeed dash.

Down Special should stay the same, it makes sense as it is.

But then he goes onto say that no Jack frost skill doesn't change anything in regards to Erdrick so I don't see how it changes significantly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don’t know how I feel about whisps in his moveset. They seam to be a modern sonic staple yes, but he lacks a signature whisp ala the Fire Flower. Any even Mario’s moveset is based very little on power-ups. Shields, I just don’t see them being viable in the moveset. They don’t really attack. They just defend.

I mean, they COULD give him some of those other moves but... honestly I don’t think it’s necessary.

I dunno, I think the Cyan Wisp is pretty iconic. Sonic's seen using it in the opening for Sonic Colors, and it's the only Wisp that appears at least once in every stage in the game. It could work for a side special.

If anything changed post-Joker it's a combination of the gun ban being lifted and the possibility of company Mii costumes being revealed with company fighters, meaning that Bamco could get a non-Lloyd or Heihachi rep (Velvet, Agumon, and Yuri fans celebrating) and we could see other Squeenix properties as Miis with DQ Hero (sorry Geno fans but also I'd LOVE 2Bii).
