Honestly this whole thing about Banjo & Kazooie wouldn't have happened had it not been for PolarPanda saying Steve's out and Banjo is in, which from what I can tell, has a KingZell-level of leak record. If anything, this got a whole hell of a lot more interesting than just the speculation off of just Nintendo's new relationship with Microsoft.

Being fair to PolarPanda , here's what she actually said:

She hasn't taken an official stance on either character.

So while things are looking good for Banjo, he's not as rock solid as Erdrick.

the real challenge was upscaling and uploading the gif afterwards because it only exports in tiny gifs

Mostly because I watched the Game Grumps playthrough so now Banjo Kazooie brings back nice memories.

I feel like Banjo would be a good addition to balance out Erdrick, given that Erdrick is primarily an Eastern "outside" pick, whereas Banjo is a Western "core" pick.

I disagree, only because Microsoft is not only still actively making games, but has a vested interest in promoting those games to sell its first party products.

They have almost nothing to gain from Banjo & Kazooie representation if they don't have anything in production starring them. Should there be a Microsoft rep, I wholeheartedly believe Microsoft would try to negotiate a character inclusion that would benefit them in some way. Konami, on the otherhand, is a semi-retired third party developer that sees a chance for a small cash grab and is like, "eh, sure."
