Holmes is public domain. Some of his stories are not. Some of the Sherlock Holmes stories referenced in DGS don't become public domain until 2022.

That feel when you come out right after the current gen Smash, but so early in the cycle that by the time the next game wheels around the hype is gone and there's no justification.

I'm sure there are others, but the ones that come to mind are Isaac, a Gen III Pokémon and a Gen V Pokémon.

Maybe Wonder Red as well.

Probably Dixie as well as Tropical Freeze barely had any influence on Smash 4 likely due to both being in development at the same time. If it released earlier she could've been a viable choice for Smash 4's base roster.

I think the Holmes stories used in DGS are public domain everywhere except the US (they had to be public domain in Japan, at least, if the game was able to use them at all). So as usual America is the reason we can't have nice things. :p

Rare blades are just more visually interesting, from a design perspective.

The party (Tora, Rex, Pyra) didn't have a huge budget on their end at the time, they had to work with what they had.

Also, a mechanical flower sound like alot of work for very little benefit, imo.

In all seriousness, the character designs in this game make me feel super uncomfortable and I'm not sure how much patience I'd have for some of the more annoying mechanics I've heard about.

The Japanese form names also reference the age Poppi is supposed to have with her basic JS(alpha) being elementary school, JK (QT) being high school and QTπ being a college student. Those are abbreviations that are pretty much used there exclusively so a lot of the localization decided to go for jokes.

To be fair, the whole yoga thing as well as being featured in Smash might’ve helped with that.

Well a good chunk of Wii Fit’s fanart came after her Smash 4 reveal, so that’s a major boost to her popularity.

While Xenoblade 2 did spawn a lot of fanart, it still doesn’t have that major wide appeal that Smash has.

That’s the only other reason I can think of.

xenoblade 2 is one of those games that you have to get past the flaws to enjoy

if you can do that then it's an incredible game but if you can't then it's best to not waste your sixty bucks

I'm just curious as to why it seems that only the designs alone seem to be the main topic whenever XC2 gets brought up. Not for the reasons, that much I know, but it seems as if that's the ONLY thing that's ever been talked about.

Like the game has been out for a year and three months, and I've never really seen anyone on here talk about the music, gameplay, structure or what have you, cause honestly, XC2 definitely does somethings better than the OG Xenoblade.

But hey, what do I know, I'm just your friendly neighborhood totally legal and actual scientist.
