Speaking of challenges, back in pre-release, people thought about doing and Inkless challenge with Inkling, where you have to get rid of all of your ink and fight on an empty tank without refilling, but it was claimed that it wouldn't be a challenge like Solomar or Sopo.

Let me tell you, that did not hold up well at all. Inkling is beyond crippled without ink, but I haven't seen a completed challenge of inkless Inkling.

I never thought I'd see this Thomas the Tank Engine rip-off ever again but now that I'm looking directly into those beautiful eyes, I think he'd be the perfect hero to take down Thanos.

Challenge I came up with for everyone here next time someone puts up an arena:

Go into your fighter stats in the Vault. In the "Battles" section, find what character you've played the least.

Play only them in an arena.

Why is that a hot take? That's common sense if you ask me.

Link's a character with a fairly defined movepool. It's not like Mega Man, Ratchet and Clank or DMC where the weapons the character gets are usually totally different with a couple archetypes. Not that the Links shouldn't have differences between them, but since Adult Link's the default version in Smash, he should have the most standard weapon choices. Taking too much from one game seems a bit short sighted and gimmicky for a character like Link in particular.

I think that's why I have a problem Mario still having F.L.U.D.D instead of something more common like a Ground Pound or something, despite me really liking Mario Sunshine.

Not that newer attacks should NEVER be used, but as you said, reworking the Bombs to be Remote and adding Sword Beams are cool additions to Lin's movepool without feeling too out of place. Like Samus could have an Up-Smash that's the Melee Counter from Samus Returns and wouldn't feel too awkward I think. And it retroactively gives D.Samus a unique move.

Giving Toon Link some slightly less common, but still notable weapons like the Hammer or Roc's Feather/Cape could work.
